According to Maté society is producing addicts and most of the damage that is normally attributed to the criminalized substances. But Why? It's a business. A business for criminals on one hand but also for social workers, psychologists and physicians and the justice system, the prison industry on the other hand. And finally those addicts (and/or the substances) can be blamed for social problems that are caused by the same rotten system. Adding insult to injury!
