I loved this video beyond anything else I've seen on youtube in a long time. I love your way of thinking, I believe cynicism is what keeps us from remembering how great life can be, despite the hurts of the past.
I believe if you know the truth deep down and understand who you are or would like to develop into, the way you get there is the journey. If that journey happens to flow through a darker view of reality, then so be it. We cannot control our lives absolutely because we have already made decisions in the past that will echo into what we are approaching in the future. You can only start with the moment and decide what is best for your particular circumstance. There is a niche for everyone.
@pshaw951: Yeah, I made this video over a year ago now. I am not saying that my way is the only way, or even the BEST way. If cynicism or a darker view of reality works for you, then that is cool with me. I say do what works for you. When I made this video a year ago, it was mainly about me stating my personal preference. For me, I prefer optimism and staying as positive and upbeat as I can. I am not saying it is the best way for everyone else, but it is the best for ME.
cynisim is totally rooted in past wounds at least in me it is I struggle everyday with trying to stay positive the positive side of me says to follow my dreams but the cynical part says no dont your dreams will never come true and its a constant struggle with in myself but most of the time I'm im pretty cynical
Seeing the world as a negative place will surely create one for you. Instead, understand that humans have the ability to be free thinking INDIVIDUALS, we have the power to change what we believe and thus our attitudes on life. I believe that a world of cynicism will create nothing but that and vice versa. IT would be doubtful that the people who have created joy in our lives had a cynical attitude.
There's nothing wrong with being a cynic - I'm one and still enjoy my life very much. Just because I feel no hope for a lot of the world around me and don't believe in god doesn't mean I'm not a positive person with my own life.
@jaredowty: First of all, I don't think I ever said in my video that there is anything inherently "wrong" with being a cynic or being cynical/sarcastic (I don't know where you are getting that from). I just said I don't like it. It's a matter of personal preference for me. Second of all, in regards to cynicism, I am mainly talking in terms of an individual's life (not the whole world). So, if you are positive and hopeful about your own life, then you are not a cynic in my eyes.
@jaredowty: I want to add one more thing and that is this. I am not under the illusion that I can change the world or make everyone be positive. I am like you in the sense that I don't have a lot of hope that world peace can ever happen or that everyone can be all happy and gay. However, I do believe that I can create peace and happiness in my own life. If others want to join me, then that's fine with me. But I don't like cynical or negative people to be in my own personal world.
My golf teammates are extremely cynical and it is truly hurting us. Instead of being positive, they bring each other down. I now understand that they probably have been hurt in thier childhood. I don't feel pity though because their attitudes don't do any good. Thanks for this lesson of wisdom my friend. It has helped me. I'm pursuing my passions for golf.
I found that, when I stopped trusting people is when I became miserable. My outlook on people was poor. I wasnt always like that. I am afraid to become like my father, as he was a horrible person..
You spoke with great wisdom, young man. Are you considering a career in the psychiatric field? If not, you might want to at least look into it. Thanks Kelly.
What is the use of having cynicism though? Surely you might as well try and be as optiomistic and posotive in your thoughts and actions as possible and if life and the world end up holding you back in some situations to an extent then so be it, accpet it, but keep trying. If you let cynicism in it just holds you back. Seeming as there is so much of it in the world at points you may aswell let that be your boundairy.
Reality is placed between the extremes of optimism and pessimism. Children are often far too optimistic, but sometimes with hard times and painful experiences, the person shifts toward pessimism (usually in the early teen years). With a good balance of pain and happiness, one achieves an ideal state to absorb the concept of reality. Furthermore, only in removing presuppositions and keeping an open mind to learning can one hope to embrace reality for what it is. Cynicism and sarcasm can hinder it
Maybe I'd just add that people tend to shape their beliefs based on "evidence".
Rather than creating beliefs based on evidence (tends to be relative and arbitrary) you should create your beliefs based on whether or not they serve you.
For example: "no one will ever love me" is NEVER going to be a resourceful belief.
Not to mention, once you have a belief - as you said - you'll create it in reality. You'll always have so-called-evidence to back up your belief.
@matt0218: I really agree with you. I also learned from the Abraham-Hicks material that there are different "truths" on which to base your beliefs. For example, there is a truth of health and wellness and there is a truth of disease and sickness. There is a truth of extreme wealth and there is a truth of extreme poverty. There is a truth of loving, kind relationships and there is a truth of hostile, dysfunctional relationships. I think there is "evidence" for whatever you want to believe. :)
Parabéns, Kelly. O teu testemunho é crucial nesta era dominada por cinismo.
Congratulations, Kelly. Your testimony is crucial in this era dominated by cynicism.

Thank you for the tips on how to be a bit happier
coming from someone who is a cynic (myself).
No sarcasm.
The truth.
