T50 - 400 vs. F22 - 220 km is detecting the enemy and firing (only plane not with AWACS assistance or something else), the F-22 primary weapon is AMRAAM or Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile, because of that and some other things F22 undergoing MAJOR upgrades (with the money US borrowed from China). The T-50 pak fa is much better than the f-35 as the f-35 cannot turn, climb, does not have range, cannot carry much weight. Compared to the f-22 not much can be said as there is still not much news on the mantainment but based on range, load and cost the t-50 has the upper hand up till now.

So they picked up an extremely small radar return when the F-117 opened its bay, (the Serbians got lucky by pointing the radar almost perfectly on the F-117 [if they hadn't they never would have found it]) and just shot, and got lucky
They placed a radar where they previously had heard (on previous nights) aircraft go by, and set up a Pechora radar, which they moved from an instalation 75km away. They turned it OFF (to make sure no RWR warning allowing premature evasion) and turned it on when they heard aircraft, got a lock and shot it down. That's not luck, that's a methodical laying of a trap for a kill.
@52111centrumcz They got lucky considering the F-117 opened its doors at the right moment for it to get a lock, if it hadn't opened it doors, the Serbians never would have locked on, considering be time you hear and aircraft, it is already miles ahead of where the sound is coming from.
The S-75 has sufficient radar power/sensitivity to achieve detection even with the door closed at such close proximity...I do admit readily that it helped though. And that's why you have many observers dotted around the countryside, not just one.
@52111centrumcz No, the actual report says that the Serbians where operating on extremely long wavelengths, and when the F-117 opened its bomb bay, the Serbians got a quick blip on radar and shot at it. They got lucky... they had no idea they had even shot anything down until reports had come in.
1) Long wave radar has such long wavelengths bomb bays are too small of an aperture to have ANY sort of return - at such wavelenghts, its the wingspan that makes a difference.
2) The bomb bays were stuck open, because the mechanics failed.
3) Preparing a trap on the most probable route, transfering a SAM there, operating in passive mode until probable aircraft is overhead and then illuminating a tight sector is NOT being lucky - its working methodically to get a kill.

Now, if there is weapons on external points, two points will have fuel tanks to accommodate the fuel used with the extra drag, so, if in nothing but Air-to-Air, 14 missiles, second the PAK FA wont be able to maneuver with the extra weight very well,and won't be able to go far, so effectively, the PAK will have 10 missiles at any time.

T50 - 400 vs. F22 - 220 km is detecting the enemy and firing (only plane not with AWACS assistance or something else), the F-22 primary weapon is AMRAAM or Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile, because of that and some other things F22 undergoing MAJOR upgrades (with the money US borrowed from China). Im not russian and do not want to argue :)

They turned it OFF (to make sure no RWR warning allowing premature evasion) and turned it on when they heard aircraft, got a lock and shot it down. That's not luck, that's a methodical laying of a trap for a kill.

1) Long wave radar has such long wavelengths bomb bays are too small of an aperture to have ANY sort of return - at such wavelenghts, its the wingspan that makes a difference.
2) The bomb bays were stuck open, because the mechanics failed.
3) Preparing a trap on the most probable route, transfering a SAM there, operating in passive mode until probable aircraft is overhead and then illuminating a tight sector is NOT being lucky - its working methodically to get a kill.

Not to mention that many of the Russian trainer achieved ace status, by shooting down your giant, unmovable coffins - F4 Phantoms. Yeah, MIG 21 was that much better. ;)

It's thanks to them that yanks invisioned project Top Gun and started working on F14. F4's and Thunderchief's were dead meat for MIg 21's in Vietnam war, especially in close combat (dog fight). Shitty F4's didn't even had guns...

@dobrovolets777 The PAK FA has a total of 16 points for weapons, 10 internal, 6 on external. Now, if there is weapons on external points, two points will have fuel tanks to accommodate the fuel used with the extra drag, so, if in nothing but Air-to-Air, 14 missiles, second the PAK FA wont be able to maneuver with the extra weight very well,and won't be able to go far, so effectively, the PAK will have 10 missiles at any time.

@MrFATasYOURmom About the quantity - yes, my datas are old...but anyway it can carry 16 missles as you have just confirmed...And no, it is not nessary to use two points for extra fuel tanks...Its battle range without extra fuel range is already pretty good...Using of external weaponry decrease the range but not dramatically...As for its maneuvrability - PAK FA can safe its minimal requirements with any permissed extra weight..look its capacities` list.

Russians have always made their planes with not a lot of fuel, look at the SU-27, and the Su-35, maneuverable-yes, but any plane just has to keep up for a couple minutes then once the Su reaches bingo fuel, the other plane wins. its as simple as that.

As for PAK FA - it may be operated twice longer range than F-22A... You even can not find defferences among Su-27 family and MiG-29 family...PAK FA range is 4300 km without extra fuel tanks.

If it needs to destroy 6 targets ob surface and fly farer to destroy 10 targets in air - it will carry 6 Air-to-surface missles under the wing and 10 Air-to-Air missles inbay...all depends on the task!
