  • This is my all time favorite version of this song!

  • YAY, FDR!!

  • This song reminds me very much of JFK's run for the presidency in 1960. Great times!

  • I knew Joe Ferko all my life, his drug store was around the corner from where I lived. He was the sweetest man I ever knew and I love the String Band, they are still the best and I miss Joe!!!

  • What I'll play when Obama gets voted out of office.

  • When I heard they got Bin Laden, I immediately put this on my play list.

  • Happy Days are here again, GO ALLEN WEST!!! Rock This Nation!!!

  • In honor of the possible cancellation of the 2011 football season!

  • Don't Vote... Why side with any of the tyrants??? Rebel instead...!!!

  • VOTE REPUBLICAN!

  • The Lone Ranger political? Was he republican or democrat?

  • WASHINGTON (AFP) – New opinion polls Tuesday made painful reading for President Barack Obama's Democrats, cementing conventional wisdom that they face a pounding by Republicans in November's congressional elections.

News article this morning. Happy days are here again!

Now to clean out the bums on the Republican side of the aisle too!

  • gosh im at butlins in 1975 they played this all the time.

  • Mission accomplished? Lol.

  • woo-fuggin-hoo! :)

great song for bbq weather comin' up

  • grandpa was a mummer. (banjo) this song was heard quite often. i never associated this with FDR except in passing. it brings back many happy memories of childhood. added to faves!

  • The Democrats weren't the only ones using the song. It was on Volkswagen commercials during the 70's and also the theme song for the mid-70s sports nostalgia TV show The Way It Was with Curt Gowdy.

  • Happy Days Are Here Again was copyrighted in 1929 by Milton Ager (music) and Jack Yellen (lyrics). It was first recorded by Leo Reisman and His Orchestra in November 1929 and was used in the 1930 film Chasing Rainbows. Unfortunately, it was co-opted as a song for FDR's 1932 campaign. FDR won and it became the unofficial theme of the Democratic Party. Were it not for that the song would be barely known today.

  • Hehehe. You people crack me up. It is possible to listen to a nice song without getting all political. I'll bet that most of you can't listen to the William Tell overture without thinking of the Lone Ranger.

  • Democratic fight song from the 1930s and used at least thru JFK's convention. Great song.

  • Would the American fundamentalist right wing Taiiban please stop crapping on every site on YouTube? Thank you.

  • Do you someone know what yaer is this record?I think its 50's?

  • I think that it was around 1930. This song was used as Roosevelt's campaign song.

  • is more like the 20's or 30's

  • @honzarudy

In Germany the Vinyl record is from 1958. (LONDON DL 20 053)

  • Answering rogertrew'

I am neither young nor stupid! I find that people who are so immersed in their own ideas of world politics that they are not open to other opinions are usually bigots, racists and as Americans so colourfully put it "red-necks". I am a 57 year old N. Irish catholic {something else to insult me with} so am quite used to your type of insults and amused by your vitriolic comments. Use an Oxford dictionary to find the meaning of the words too long for you to understand.

  • @maryred11 I'm afraid you're tilting at windmills, i'm sorry to say. Reason, logic and facts have no bearing on personal or religious ideology. I call it the Bozone Layer, a dense layer of gas surrounding Bozo-Americans that prevents original ideas from reaching their brains.

  • This is just some music from the 30's but some idiots try to turn it into political crap. Shame on these nincompoops. Relax and enjoy the tune.

  • When they quit using it is when the Democratic party went to hell and became Republican lite. Thank God for the new President

  • Yes even though I'm a Canadian, I'm looking forward to January 20th when Barack Obama is finally sworn into office. After 8 years, it can't come fast enough. HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN!

  • Yes!! He's in!! Happy Days are here again!

  • Ferko the greatest string band.

  • actually was first used by democ'ts in 1928 with al smith and was played at dem conventions as late as humphrey in '68. by '72, dems had switched to grateful dead, more than likely.

  • Obama 100 v Nasty Old Republicans 0

  • I'm trying not to gloat as I send this link to all my Republican friends.

  • Go ahead, GLOAT!!!!

  • I played this video the moment Obama won! Every Obama voter should play it too!

  • FDR 1932 = OBAMA 2008!

  • OBAMA BABY!

  • i can tell you one thing when this president race is over i think everyone is going to be singing this song

  • this song isn't that bad you idot.

  • VOTE DEMOCRATIC!

  • @monadnockandcasey I'm with you!!

  • Play loud for the DEMs when Barak brings it home in November and sets America back on its historic role as shining beacon to humanity. Its been a very tough 8 years!

  • Exactly! We're seeing bank failures and unemployment lines! We need SOMETHING to cheer us up!

  • hillary or obama!

  • Hilary!

  • Buster Keaton!

  • This is the Ferko String BAnd from Philadelphia...one of the top performers in the annual Mummers Parade held each New Years Day! A great song and band!

  • As jmmdk5 said, Ferko is one of the powerhouse Mummers clubs.

The Mummers Parade is a day-long parade, and is the Philadelphia version of Mardi Gras. Many performers wear outlandish costumes which feature ostrich feathers and sequins.

Ferko has won the String Band category in the Mummers Parade 20 times since 1927.

    They won in 1927, 1929, 1930-32, 1936-39, 1947, 1950-51, 1958, 1969, 1974, 1982, 1994, and 1996-98.

  • Also, the Mummers Parade is broken into three categories:

    Comics (spoofing various current events)

    Fancies (very fancy costumes)

String Bands (which also wear very fancy costumes)

There is a fourth division, but the Fancy Brigades (elaborate staged performances) no longer march up Broad St. Instead, they perform at the Convention Center.

For those outside of the Philly area, if you get cable channel WGN, they televise the Mummers Parade.

  • BTW - I just learned that Ferko will perform at the Mummers Museum at 2 St. & Washington Ave. on the evening of Thursday, July 10, 2008.

  • This would be a good song to play if the USA went back to being isolationalist.

  • The perfect slam on Bush to play this at the inuaguration immediately after the oath is done.

    Anyone think the same way?

  • You bet there are a lot of us that think the same way - both Republicans and Democrats.

    BK

  • In Germany it is known as "Wochenend' und Sonnenschein" (o:

  • This is actually the official song of the National Democratic Party. Its been the official song since the happy days of the great Franklin Delano Roosevelt!

  • I love this song!

It's so upbeat and cheerful! Just what we need in this day and age.

  • This song were one of my favourites when in my dad's record-collection, with Deep In The Heart Of Texas on the other side. Thanks for hearing it again!

  • Say, this song is really swel!!

  • you said it brother! why? because the writer's strike is over!!! the great cartoons can return and this video says just how I feel!!!! WHOOPIE!!!!!
