Just so you guys know, she is kneading the fondant COMPLETELY wrong.... If you knead fondant like you would with bread dough, then it would take half the time it took for her to get the color, and it will make the fondant one solid color. (instead of fondant with some parts that aren't as dark)
hi i was just wondering if u can use food coloring like the normal one! can someone plz tell me im making my 1st fondant cake on the 26th so plz plz help me before then thank you!
@dancer5616 : According to Karen's other video about fondant , Cake Decorating Tips: Tools for working with fondant, she says regular food coloring will not work as it's too wet and will moisten the fondant too much. Good question.

professional fondant is easy to make....glycerin, glucose, gelatine and pure icing sugar (confectioners sugar). google 'professional fondant'...it will come out like store bought.
Then YOU do the videos!!!!! I'd like to see YOU doing it!!!! Come on!!! Record yourself doing the whole thing "better" (because if you're calling this lady "stupid" I'm assuming you're an "Ace of Cakes" type of expert ), post the video here...and then have everybody talking trash about you anyway.
Not to mention most of those people criticizing this lady are probably doing so because this is suppose to be an instructional video - to teach - and you cant teach others unless you know what you are doing.
And it doesnt take an ace of cakes addict to differentiate a nice looking cake.
i suggest that in order to reduce the amount of time in coloring the fondant, color about 1/8 of a piece first, then slowly knead it in to the bigger chunk. And dont shape it tube-like after incorporating the color into it, knead it like kneaing dough. Push, pull, push, pull.
Dude why did she put the food coloring in with a toothpick. Then on the first batch she said you can use this if you want to have swirls in the fondant. You tube please take her off of here cuz she gone have everybody fuccin up cakes with this fondant she is so terrible at making. If I buy a cake it looks like she made it ima post a response to all her videos exposing her for the baking fraud that she is.
If u r reading this, then u will find a dead bloody body hanging in ur closet. U will be haunted and killed by her. to stop it posti this to 6 other videos in 30 GOOD LUCK
Its easier to add colouring to a tiny piece, then add that to the rest of the fondant.. Otherwise, if you do it with the toothpick, itll take forever to try and get the "stripes" out of the fondant and get a true colour.. :-)
Well if youve ever seen the cake decorateing colors theyre actually in a gel form theyre highly concentrated so a little goes a very long way.... theyre made that way to avoid changeing the consistency of the fondant or iceing such as the liquid ones would do, so if u droped a piece of fondant in it would really just make a nasty mess.... hoped that helped
I use fondant just because it makes the cake look nice but not very many people eat it or even like it. You can however flavor it. I've flavored mine with lemon/orange/almond. You do have to soften it first by placing it in the microwave for 5 seconds at a time until it is really pliable. I tell you it is so much easier to work with that way. Making your own is no big deal either. Anyone try covering their cakes with molding chocolate?
I actually made marshmallow fondant and it wasn't too bad. It wasn't as bad as people said, but I'm more of buttercream guy. I agree people like fondant because of the smooth and satiny appearance.
From what I understand, some fondants are less palatable than others. I made a Marshmallow fondant that I think taste's really good! It's very sweet and sugary though, and as with everything it depends on personal taste--I know some people hate that kind of thing (super sugary). I'm afraid that taste is not the reason fondant is used though. Just how smooth and satiny it is.
its not disgusting...but well Not very tasty!! Just taste like some thing sugary blandish. MarshMallow Fondant(MMF) is wayyyyyy way better! Super easy to make!!

how stupid can this lady be?!
u need like, one teaspon of colour for it to turn blue
choco33333333 2 years ago
you would never need that much! Not unless you wanted a true black color.
There is a reason that they use paste color and not liquid. The paste is condensed and strong.
srfboardin 2 years ago
so your saying that 1 drop of food colouring can make a giant blob of fondant blue?
choco33333333 2 years ago
this lady is horrible, she's terrible with fondant...and "stri-rated" instead of striated.. i mean c'mon!!
