Vera Ellen was the most perfect female dancer of the musical movie era. She was accomplished in ballet and tap, sadly she did not get the acclaim she deserved.
I wish I was Fred, he got to dance with the greatest looking woman of his era. What a lucky guy. He was all class, even with this women, he never cheated on his wife.
i find it odd that you had to change the track due to copyright as someone else has since uploaded the same clip with the song included since, however this fits very nicely :-)
@katandbaby I agree. This is a nice replacement, but the original tune was what made the dance so wonderful... I think I saved it somewhere, but I know it WAS on You Tube, at least.
Further to my previous comment I thought the original music was called "I'll Follow my Secret Love" or something similar. I'm not arguing fredginger2009 but I was certain of that. Can anyone sort this out?
@loujug1 It was "Thinking of You". It can be found by putting "Thinking of You - Three Little Words (1951) in the search box. As I said below, this is pretty, but it was the original music that MADE the dance complete - especially when it switched to a Latin rhythm at 2:58....
In my opinion this is one of the most perfect of all dance sequences. Their arms and legs are perfectly aligned the timing is faultless and Vera was probably the most graceful of all Fred's partners. Although Fred never let on I once heard that it was believed that Vera was Fred's favourite partner. Caught this clip ona film about MGM, it was introduced by Michail Barishnikov and I looked for it for years. Luckily I found it here on You Tube and thankfully downloaded it with the original music.
Very nice fit of music to the dancing-both in tempo and in mood. I'm surprised that I like it, because the original music "Thinking of You" by Bert Kalmar and Harry Ruby is one of my favorite songs by the those two.
Thank you. The original music is indeed very nice. I was really disappointed that it was not allowed due to copyright. Took me a while to find something suitable. I really wanted to post this little dance sequence because there was no footage from it in the theatrical trailer.
@ChibiTomo81, this is rare and it is good. You hardly ever find suitable added music to anything, this is a tru exception. I just clicked on the title, and, of course, would else could it be than Fred Astaire.
Vera-Ellen's dress and dancing is beautiful, but Fred still dances circles! I loved her in On The Town, though!

notice how much more fred likes dancing with a real dancer who can act as opposed to an actor who knows how to dance.
