The downside has to be that bloody awful, low-tech engine. I suppose it's pretty bulletproof but it's ugly as hell under the bonnet (check out an Alfa V6 or Maserati V8 if you want to see what I mean!), which results in dreadful fuel consumption & pathetic power output.
If only they'd used something like a Jaguar 4.2 V8 instead...
why you think we had it supercharged...,makes more than enough power for a road car now, and any V8 with a blower sat on top looks good, altho i would never buy or not buy a car going on how 'pretty' it is under the bonnet.
The 260 is a very good all round car, and handles over 400bhp easily.
@owenpetard Rover did tweak it and imrpove it, it's not standard. they actually did their "twiddly magic" and improved the fuel consumption quite a bit...
the power downgrade is because of the e.u, then when you buy the car x power offer you a kit with the supercharger to get to 400hp then a chip to get to 450 then a nitro kit to get to 900hp, the same kit offered as with the mg sv thanks to them being the same engine just different states of tune because of emissions laws, the v8 in that makes C02 like its gone out of fashion, very polluting engine but then again they dint have the money to lower the emissions so who cares.
TBH who really cares what DAC128 thinks??? I doubt anyone. At the end of the day I love cars from all manufactures, because I am a petrol head and not a blinkered fool who believes everything they see on top gear.
And a 1.8T Passat :p These cars are designed to last...Simple! I doubt many Rovers/MG's last over 100,000 miles. Audi's on almost 170k and its 5 cylinders! :D

Brilliant Vid, had an MG ZT V6 once, loved it to bits. What has the is V8 had done to it, would really like another one especially if it was as much fun as yours.
the car is a ZT 260 se, so has all the toys, and has a pair of x power stainless backboxes and a Dreadnaught supercharger...,other than that and the wheels(still 18's but alittle wider) the car is standard, and is fantastic, had a brand new sti impreza with a prodrive kit before this and it was poo, and also sold a TVR T350 in favour of the mg also :o)
It has the Dreadnought supercharger conversion, so it has just over 400bhp. Put it this way, even towing that trailer with the rally car on it, it still has a better power/weight ratio than a Civic VTi.

the supercharger really does make it quick. The ZT 260 is Bentley-esque in feel and performance, even more so (I imagine) with a supercharger.

Sounds like it's the V8, so 260Bhp.
If it's the Supercharged V6, then 220Bhp.
Or if it's the same as mine, V6 190Bhp.
These were all standard factory engines for the ZT.
And I wouldn't recommend that style of driving with a trailer. That was very stupid.
