I stumled on this while doing my personal "heritage tour. I was born on the base in '62, while my father was stationed there as an ETEC-A. He was killed in an auto accident in 1970, while at CFB Portage. Thanks for helping me out.
This video brings back many great memories of when we lived in Marville(1960-64) My father, Sgt. Bob Miller, was a member of 445 Squadron until it disbanded in 1962. I went back to Marville for the 50th anniversary reunion in Sept. '05. Took some old pictures over with me and stood in the same spot to see how much it had changed, some had changed a lot and some had changed a little. Living in Marville , watching the Sabres flying constantly has left me with unforgettable memories. Steve Miller
I have nothing but respect for our unsung heroes of the Cold war, we lost alsmost as many servicemen on NATO missions as were lost during the Korean War.
Un gros merci pour cette vidéo...cela me rappel bien des souvenirs...G.

Thanks. Videos of our Forces are not something that you find very much of. Especially during those periods.

F-86, 107 pilots killed
CF-101, 10 pilots killed
CF-104, 37 pilots killed
CF-5, 10 pilots killed

Publicly, thank you 'Avrocar' for editing and posting this video of 445 Squadron.
Here are some of Canada's finest Cold War heroes defending the skies of Europe armed with their rocket pods.
Bless them all!
