Very well played! Though a few painful memories occur @ 1:10 with the retrograde 'la campanella' figure, and @ 1:41 with those pesky Brahms studies.... a testament to my laziness and a tribute to your studiousness!
First of all, the fingers aren't flat, they are curved in the natural way in which they should be. Second of all, his approach to playing reminds me of Marc-Andre Hamelin's interpretation, where the melody is brought out and the rest is more of an accompaniment, which is a great way of interpreting it. Kapustin endorsed Hamelin's recording and said they were played beautifully and in a way he would have liked. And with that said, you played this exceptionally well and I love your style. Bravo!
Awesome! I love your "flatter finger" technique, and your hands look so calm without any loss of energy in unproductive movements... And you have a neet crisp sound quality, that's appreciated!
looking back on this performance, having played the piece myself now, it's impressive how you manage to bring out the melody so clearly, but i think you marginalize the accompaniment and all the rest too much, it's barely noticeable and this piece wasn't made just for the melody, the accompaniment wouldn't need to be so complicated the way you play it. just my opinion on the interpretation though, as i said your technique and feel of melody is amazing!
A little fast, but I guess that's your interpretation. Personally, I think pieces can lose their jazzy feeling when played too fast, but you managed to keep it in there.
a few minor slips here and there, but this was a very VERY thorough recording. some impressive thumb passing i see there with the left hand. i'd only like to say be mindful of your execution of the triplet runs and trills. the undulating crescendos on transitions and the consistent handling of the textures woven into that intricate passage work really gave this piece a distinguishable character, which imho, remained untried since the onset of its audit on the public front.
I love you!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent! It's hard to find good Kapustin interpretations other than Hamelin's and Kapustin's own recordings.
