  • Thanks mate. Glad you enjoyed.

Yeah you do have to consider how your piece would be done live, when I won I was in charge of organising that, and Tropfest paid for all session musos.

Last year the score that won needed a 64 piece orchestra so they just played the recording, which was a bit of a let down.

If you want to write something 'big', you could get just a few real musicians to play along with some pre-recorded stuff. We were playing to a click track anyway.

    All the best with it!

  • Yes, I agree with you and I assure you that I can appreciate what you did :)

I just got the impression that Tropscore seems to prefer scores with less "classical" approach, which could be mentioned somewhere in the website info of the whole competition...

Still I think that if your song were written first, the video you scored could work quite well as a "video clip" to it ;) - actually there is nothing wrong with it, isn't it? :)

    All the best

  • I think Pluto written great song and I really enjoyed listening to it. The only thing that organizers should have told the composers that they are not looking for a SCORE they looking for music that blend into the visuals in a "video-clip mode" - and those are two very different things...

  • A score is a piece of music that follows the contours of the visuals and, most importantly, adds to them. Watch again closely and you'll see 'same perfume' is not just a song that washes over the whole film, making it a 'video clip'. The whole arrangement closely follows the action on screen.

I believe even though a piece of music has lyrics, a melodic hook and modern instrumentation, it can still fit the bill for a 'score', just not for a 'traditional' score perhaps.

    Some may disagree though
