They can cause serious damage to the cotton industry these little buggers.About a quarter of an inch long,it sleep all winter under dry leaves and grass,it's jaw at the tip of the snout are perfectly designed for boring holes into cotton buds.

I bet they do but will they eat t shirts? I dont need these things eating my NY Yankee T shirts. If they do im gonna get one of those tennis racket flyswatter things and im gonna zap em. Hope this goes thru b/c YT was doing maintenence.
oh ok sorry, i didnt have a tape measure at the time and I was just using what i had at hand, but i think the US quarter is pretty common item for size comparison some ppl use a dollar bill.
Not exactly. They aren't nearly as wide spread and aren't nearly as mobile. Some varieties can fly, but they mostly remain ground-bound because they aren't very aerodynamic. They can be parasites, but only if a large (as in, MASSIVE) hatching occurs in a single area. If this happens, they'll suck plants dry. Otherwise, they cannot migrate or feed as easily as locusts.
Actually most of them have their wings fused to their backs, so they cannot fly at all. Some do, but not for long, they generally tend to prefer the ground.
yeah tell me about it i have this one pic of this bug that i 4got to put in this vid but you can really see its face, I might reupload that one with the new pic i dunno
What the f+ck is that? I've never seen something so weird before in my life, but it doesn't look too common anywhere. Must be a new breed of weirdness.

I love weevils!! They are sooo cool. They have tube-like mouths with sucking mouth parts at the end. Super cute!!
fanofthegoodstuff 2 years ago
I wouldnt mind seeing what the mouth parts look like but its probably just a tube with maybe a tongue like thing at the end, not sure.

You know those things are parasites, right? They're like the southern equivalent of a locust swarm.
