The 360 of today is the PS2 of 8 years ago. The 360 will have a 10-year life cycle...
Sony changed up their strategy from PS2 to PS3. The PS2 was competitive immediately. The PS3 took some time to shine, and even now it's still much less popular than the 360. It seems like everyone I know has a 360, but I only have 1 friend with a PS3. I don't see this changing. Hardcore gamers might switch to PS3, but most people are going to stick with their 360.

Hell, I upgraded my 360. I bought the Elite and traded in my old one for more games. PS3 is just struggling, because all you can do with it is play Blu-Ray. Sorry to break it to you folks, but Blu-Ray is not the same big leap as VHS to DVD. The only reason why PS2 killed Dreamcast was the Matrix DVD.

If the PS3 did in fact outsell the 360 at its launch, it was because the 360 had already been out for a year...
Now that both consoles have been out for a while, it's appropriate to look at the big picture.
The PS3 has sold an average of 4.0 million per year. The 360 has sold an average of 5.2 million per year.
And by the way, I'm not here to get into some fangirl catfight. I don't even own a 360.

FUCKIN A!!!! I'm tired of these fucked up prices. They need to drop it to 200 dollars or some shit. Plus you get no games with the 299 console. Unless you get the bundle pack and you're paying 369 for two games you might not like or 339 for one game you probably wont like either. I called up a rent to own place they are criminals. They said in the long run it would come out to roughly 600 Cant relax or have fun without going bankrupt these days.

you can get Bluray ROMs for your PC from 75-100 bucks man and brand new bluray players for the tv for just around 100-150 bucks brand new. I rather upgrade my PC with that money. PS2 sales are still higher than ps3 right now. i will never buy a console box more than 250 bucks. maybe 300 but thats pushing it. and when i heard the announcement for the price of the ps3 when it came out i pissed my pants laughing my ass off..... lol

By that logic, while the $200 Xbox would be crap, then the $400 Xbox should be quality but the failure rate which you are using as your crutch is for all the xbox 360 systems across the board. Also in regards to quality, again by your desperate logic to defend YOUR system of choice, the Wii should be priced higher, because their failure rate is very low. Indeed. Whenever I walk into an electronic store, and WANT to purchase a PS3, I play the demos and look at the library. It just doesn't cut it at all.
Hell, I upgraded my 360. I bought the Elite and traded in my old one for more games. PS3 is just struggling, because all you can do with it is play Blu-Ray. Sorry to break it to you folks, but Blu-Ray is not the same big leap as VHS to DVD. The only reason why PS2 killed Dreamcast was the Matrix DVD.

trust me, if you watch a Blu-ray on a full 1080p HDTV with HDMI, it is a HUGE step up from DVD. DVDs look cruddy on my HDTV in comparison.

The ps3 is actually a good deal because it will last 10 years (the ps2 did, I think that ps3 will). Wii is about 3 years Xbox 360 4-5.
