The world has achieved brilliance without wisdom, power without conscience. Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants. We know more about war that we know about peace, more about killing that we know about living. ~Omar Bradley
im posting this song on my facebook......they dont understand how we live it every day of our lives....yrs down the road in our dreams and when we are awake.....IT NEVER ENDS FOR US!!!!
My wife deserves the Congressional Medal of Honor. She understands and has therefore put up with ALOT of crap. That is the measure of love.--I came home a wreck, and my wife is still trying to pick up the pieces.I gave it my all over there only to return to a wreck with "civilians." I shouldn't be so harsh,though- there is alot more understanding and awareness of PTSD than ever before.
@Karlzjayxday17 Your comment does not sound stupid. I don't ever give advice and I don't know what you should do. But I will say this...Just love him and most importantly please make sure that you have people around you that you can talk to and help you get through this as well. PTSD greatly impacts family members and it is just as important for you to seek help as it is for the people that have PTSD. Please find someone you can talk to. I will be praying for you and your Dad. Cliff
You too, Cliff. Thank you. Please keep writing songs for all of us who serve/served. We need it. Lots of people try to understand and write stuff that relates to us, but unless they have experienced PTSD they really don't get it, and it comes through in their music. I probably listen to your song more than twice a day now and it really helps me through some of the rougher spots.

Thanks so much. "Give me something to fight..." Bouncing between adrenaline and depression and no longer world wide deployable. Relief and guilt every time my unit gets redeployed with one fewer medic. It says so clearly the struggle. Former 1st Cav Medic
It is great to see that you 100% understand what I meant whe I wrote those lyrics. You nailed it, overwhelming mental conflict. Thank you for your service. Cliff Luckey

My heart and prayers go out to our soldiers/veterans who have PTSD. Everyone look at your own community to see what level of outreach there is to these people. They need your help, they're not getting enough support and attention.
I too have PTSD. Three and a half years of Iraq and I came home but my Soul did not. For a long time I refused to get some help or take medication. When I could stand the nightmares no more I went to the Doctor and got some medication. I feel a little better now. But I know that I will never be the same. But if you care about those who love and depend on you don't be afraid to get help. It is not a sign of weakness. May God grant you Peace...
Hey man I love this I want to thank you for justwriting this song, I have lost four guys to suicide they all had ptsd that was untreated. My dad told me before I went off to Iraq in 2003 that I would see stuff that I would never forget and was he ever so right .
In my book, after 5 deployments you have earned the right to say anything you feel about this subject. I want to personally thank you for putting yourself in harms way to protect me and this great nation of ours. If you are ever in Austin Texas look me up so I can buy you a steak dinner. Cliff Luckey
Please email me your address so I can send you some copies of the CD. Please tell your dad that I am praying for him. YOu can email me you mailing address at stratsterguy@yahoo.com
first of all, very touching for me and a lot of others.but, why is it that us civilian contractors do not see anything aout what we are going thru now ? kbr denies we have or that it our fault. V.A. will not help me even though I am prior military in the first gulf war. hell, i seen more combat hauling fuel from 04-06 and then with recovery in the Anbar from 06-07. any suggestions out there / but, great song and down to heart !! Shane "Eveready" McDonald
Everyone just looks at it like, 'Hey, the war is over man, get over it!' Well, it still rages inside the minds of those of us who have shame, fear and anger by the truckload inside of us. The wives who stick by their men and don't give up are the true heroes. My wife deserves the Congressional Medal of Honor for sure!! Watch my video on my page @ thepresticle1.
Great song. I was with 3rd ID on the first trip we made. PTSD haunts me almost everyday. I wish more of the "people" understood what it is and that we aren't crazy.
Be advised all; PTSD is just another name...not exclusive to the fighting man- victims of abuse and nearly any serious event causing trauma or loss can be the cause. Veterans are being housed when homeless by contractors who DO NOT have our best interests at Heart. The 'so-called' Per Diem Program has seen Many groups treating us like convicts and drug addicts with no respect for our nutrition or progress. Let's Bring Everyone Home so we can make One...SLOAN...U.S. Army
Thank you for your comments and Yes, PTSD impacts many people who have not served our country that have had tragic events happen to them. It is a very good point to make indeed. Keep up the good fight my friend and please stay safe. Cliff
"...not exclusive to the fighting man- victims of abuse and nearly any serious event causing trauma or loss can be the cause"
whoa...you know, I keep seeing things I can relate to over and over and over again
but than I remember that I was a worthless POG, I was nothing but a FOBBITT, hell, I didn't even deserve to be called a soldier, well, that's how my NCO's treated me, wait, I'll speak for the REAL soldiers...OH FREAKIN' WAAAAAA
Thank you for posting this song and bringing awareness to PTSD! The Austin Vet Center is one of the best places to go for one on one treatment and group therapy. There is true camaraderie and brotherhood in this family of veterans, regardless of what conflict you served in. Thanks Cliff and God Bless America!
Aint gonna study war no more! God bless all those who have served!
