I saw this back in the late nineties. It will eventually even be used as a wall cover, which would allow one to change the color of their walls instantly. Also has uses for cars on their outer bodies,as well as interior. Why it hasn't been put into production though,is way beyond me.
@Super7820 The sort of technology you're talking about is e-ink, quite different from this. For both technologies the delays are driven by getting manufacturing costs down, getting yield up and sometimes improving reliability. Getting a demo helps you get investors, but getting into production can sometimes take a decade.
if only they put these in PSP's then we wouldn't really need to replace them cuase they wouldn't break as easily like the other screens, and if you did have to replace the screen there would be a part to upen the part around the screen to un connect the screen but the wire would stay and you would just have to connect the old wire to the new screen
I only wish there was more color than green and dark shades(-aka black and greyish green). I want to see the many colors my TV currently provides thank you. BUT I LOVE THIS TECH! I want one :) especialy when there's more color than green.
i was not trying to offend you or any one else , ??? I think there was a Misunderstanding ! I was just saying that technology is ever evolving at an exponential rate. I am optimistic about the future and there are many minds in world just waiting to gift us with amazing new technology I sure you are one of them. Good luck friend ..
Ever heard of the Fairlight CMI? How about the rollable piano? Merge those two together with this display and make it a touch screen and you have a piano that plays any instrument that you can stick in your pocket.
This video has been up on their website since at least about 2 years ago. It's still new to some people though, and is the latest FOLED demo they've got posted. http://www.universaldisplay.com/foled.htm (disclosure: I bought some stocks in them at that time which I still hold, but am not the video poster)
What a great comment! Thanks. I put the video up and went back to leave comments like 20 minutes later only to find the above comment. Cool stuff. There are variants of this tech showing up all the time, but this is still one of the best demos I've found even though, as augnob said, it's already two years old.

It will be competing against E-ink which is developing flexible displays that can maintain an image without power.
I own a rigid OLED watch and the technology seems capable of surpassing current LCD technology.

I am totally geeking out about this stuff!
The great thing is, most of this stuff will be commonplace by the time I'm an adult.
