A GTO was beside me at a redlight today, light turned green, HE FLOORED IT, it was an automatic, it kinda barked 2nd gear, then this guy merging onto the highway (what I think was on purpose) pulls right into the GTO driver's lane, guy in the GTO SLAMMMMS ON BRAKES, ALMOST STARTS SLIDING AROUND, got like a foot from rear-ending the guy, then we just started laughing at the guy trying to be a hardass, and almost hitting someone!! hahahaha... you could smell those brakes!! lol

@flyjum you are wrong, F body does 13.8 on the 1/4 mile (about as fast as an 05 mustang gt) and an ls2 gto does 13.3, a corvette c5 also does 13.3 c5 weighs 1470kg, camaro 1644kg, gto 1690kg, I can confirm this because I have an ls2 gto and an ls1 Vette c5, we raced them, both automatic about the same stock gear ratio's (3.15 for the vette and 3.23 or 3.46 for the gto) and from 0-120mph they are dead even, above 120mph the vette starts to pull away,c5 does 175mph (gps'd) gto 170mph,f-body 155mph

I don't get why people hate on autos..first of all I think the auto gto is quicker than the manual, second there making auto transmissions these days very good to the point where it is not possible to shift quicker than it in a manual, you get different results each time in a stick, where as the auto your very quick every time. @khammett12 Tell me why you cannot daily drive a manual? They tend to cost less to buy and maintain. You also get much better gas mileage with a properly driven manual vehicle.

I drive a manual every day, everywhere, it becomes second nature; soon enough it becomes second nature to constantly do downshifts, then double clutch etc. You don't even need to think about it at a point, you can even start using heel-toe to keep it interesting although it is tough to use it in a non racing situation.

GTO cost $32k new, GT500 is over $55k? For $7k you could supercharge a GTO and outrun that GT500.

Mustang GT vs GTO is the only comparison you can make as they are both around 30k. And GTO wins that one by 100 horses plus a better interior to boot.

The GTO is a 30k car that can only be compared to cars over 50k. And that is what makes it so good.

??? a cld air intake doesn't really do anything to performance... and with the newer cars all they are is a helper mod with your tune that will pick up 2-3RWHP "if you are lucky" on top of the tune

I'd say without the tune I was losing about 5BHP with the stand alone CAI, the loss of power is because the MAF needs to be reflashed to accomodate the increased airflow

but for better or worse a CAI isn't picking up or losing 30BHP, it's just not possible
