Damn... What happened WoW... Vanilla was by far the high point of this game. Its crazy to think that this game actually used to take time to progress though end game content.... I remember it taking me 2+ MONTHS to get full Earthfury. Now you can get full tier sets in a few weeks... God forbid making people work for thier gear. Sad part is, was (if you infact played in vanilla) everyone saw it coming as soon as they made GM/HW gear buyable with honor points.

You can't tell in this vid, but one of the three tanks died right off the bat and they had one warrior tank holding all the icecrown guards. His health was going from near zero to max constantly.
To be completely honest, if those of you looking to play vanilla again you realize that you can download a patch called Scriptcraft right? It's a private server dedicated to preserving the sanctity of all that is vanilla. Google it out!

Most games you can go back and replay the content you love so much but not this. I'd love to have my raid gear tank/dps, resist gear, and my ashkandi just to do a few raids a week compared to all the shit games on the market.
Ragnaros was harder in vanilla, imho. As with KT and every other boss Blizzard has remade. It's so sad that that can't pull something new out of lore-filled asses .-.

@Evanhardlife Thats why the bosses of Classic or TBC were so unique, is they were killed in 10m (Some), 20m, or 40m. Each had only one diffculty making it so epic to kill them for the first time. (And of course the previous times after that :D)
I think what really made the big difference between vanila and the rest of the expansion, is the people who played it. MMO was quite new to everyone. There was no sites for everything that you wanted to know about WoW. There was no guides, there was no websites recording the pve progress. Everything was unknown, unexplored and mysterious. Now a days you're independent, which takes the essence of wow away.
@Evanhardlife Explain the fact that only 22 european guilds managed to kill Kel'Thuzad before TBC got released. KT was hard. It wasn't unormal to gain every possible buff in-game before attempting the boss, just to get slaugthered outside the instance by the opposite factions and lose them. I happen to know the guy who frapsed this kill, Jimmy, he was a decent warrior for sure!
I wish blizzard could do something about this man. This was the days where I enjoyed leveling but I only got to level 43, BUT IT WAS FUN DOING IT there were no op items like heirlooms now a days. I really with that they would make it so we can enter different sections of WoW like when we log in we get to choose to play in "World Of Warcraft" "The Burning Crusade" "Wrath Of The Lich King" & "Catalysm" i just wish that this could happen so I can relive the old days :(
@CrazyTheDk in PRE-bc, once someone attacked something and combat started, universally, you could no longer charge. Charge used to be an opener, and that's it. You couldn't even reset combat, or charge in combat. It was effectively useless in PvE unless you tanked.

As good as people think pre-tbc was. The negatives outweighed the positives. Did you really enjoy 1-60? Did you enjoy being stuck in one raid because that one peice of gear which you NEEDED wouldn't drop? Did you enjoy getting gibbed by rogues on the way to raids? The game was moved on, adding things which needed to be added.
@Rydoskraze True but then again..all those downsides had their charms when you look back on it. Really when TBC was introduced I felt like: WTF blizz FUUUU for taking those epic 40m raids away. Then in TBC I raided up till deep Sunwell, never got the chance to down KJ :( And then wrath came and again I felt like: WTF blizz FUUU. I guess that is just how dedicated players react to expansions..perhaps. Vanilla and TBC were the golden years for me!

@ConnTactish To be fair, as cool as the idea is, too many people have been playing differently for so long. Did you honestly like the grind of 1-60? and how Loot dependant TBC was. If you werent in a good guild they werent fun expansions. Also if you consider how many people remember exactly how they played 5-6 years ago your gonna have alot of bad players on those realms
The thing that upset me the most about them recycling Naxx for Wrath was all the gear was absolutely THE SAME. And For the most part the raid was too. I was extremely happy that they had learned from their mistake and made Rag into one of the hardest bosses to date.

Rofl, if your looking for a real vanilla p-server it's sriptcraft you should go to. Feenix is way to run down, and the GMs dosnt care anymore for the game. Scriptcraft is a pretty new server so everything isnt downed yet.
I loved this though. Killing a boss now is like "Cool. It's down. How about the next one.." But at the time you'd be screaming at even Anub'Rekhan. :L
Nihilum and Paragon were (Nihilum) are (Paragon) the best guilds in WoW. Because Nihilum has killed Kel'Thuzad. because Paragon has killed the Lich King Heroic mode 25. The hardest bosses WoW ever had.
Man... I wish i could've played in Vanilla. People say it was one of the best times in WoW, and I don't blame them. I've heard stories about 40 people all having to do the right thing at the right time, etc... I think it would've been amazing, but a headache at times. :D

Killing a raid boss was actually epic back then and not many were able to do raids because back then, (lets face it) everyone sucked at first. You actually had to put time and effort into the game to be good, and nowadays you just have to put in the time to farm and grind for gear, and epic gear is given out like candy nowadays. Instead of making the game better to prevent us from going to SWTOR, Blizzard wants us to buy 12 months in exchange for some goodies. I miss that feeling of epicness :(
Idk what people are saying tbh. 40 mans were odd. In the end I only healed a few people each encounter like I was supposed to, and most encounters throughout the expansion, I just stood there waiting 'till it was my turn to do something. Vanilla WoW was new, I might be the only one, but really, it wasn't anything special at all.

Was a part of Method before they became "famous", back in mc/bwl/aq40 days & it was just amazing to be a part of that (yay for splinky getting the mount :p), i quit playing that character for some time after that though because the time investment was pretty wild. So i never got to see old naxx. Vanilla was just cool because wow wasn't so mainstream & had a better overall community because of that.

You see a lot of noobs nowadays with tier 3, but they basicly got it far into tbc with some farm run like you see people going through sunwell nowadays.. they don't really need to have skill.. they just joined the farm runs :P
WoW is a better game today. People that just start playing talk about how great it is and my friends who started in Wotlk say that was the best expansion ever. It all depends on what expansion you started in and what you had more fun in. BC wasn't better, you just had more fun because the game still felt new.
Saying that TBC was better is just rubbish. You can't honestly been playing since 05' - Boring instances and the only raid that was kind of interesting and original was Karazhan / magtheridon. No good World-PvP Everyone was staying in Shattrah. The feeling was gone imo. Arena was the only good thing with tbc.

@orim nilla was amazing but the work you had to put in for gear was irritating as hell but totally worth it i received 8/9 pre bc cause we couldn't get down sapphiron and kelthuzard before BC but we got it early 70 and finished off my set obtaining the ring and i gotta say this is the highlight of raiding to its biggest difficulty to date not many players got to experience the difficulty of this place and how it challenged everyone in the group to work there ass off to achieve great feats

You'd have to be an idiot to think that Vanilla's encounters were more difficult than today's. The only thing "hard" back then was the reputation grinds, the artificial set-backs of resist gears, the leading of 39 other players. Only a few percentage saw Kel'thuzad because WoW didn't have the same amount of players it does now.
Now, even with Heroic PTRs, mass datamining, theorycrafting, 5-year raid conditioning, and you still have the top guilds struggling on Yogg+0, LK, and even today's Rag.
[Me]: No.........The grind still give me nightmares. My jaw is still sore from all the yawning during Molten Core trash. Few encounters were actually "original".
But that isn't to say that it was a bad expansion.
@tomank101 The issue was that Naxx wasn't out that long before BC came out. High end vanilla content likely has the same % of people who have completed it as the current heroic raids. The difference is that in Vanilla that small % of people were the only people who even SAW the content. So basically devs spent all of that time developing Naxx only to have 1% of the player base experience it. You don't have to be a genius to see how bad that design philosophy is in the long term.
Vanilla WoW was a huge part of my life... I will never regret staying inside on Saturday night's. The only thing that could kill WoW is Blizzard. RIP Vanilla WoW

@smallbrownbeavers it's all about the gear. In the cata expansion they started to give you blues at 15. I remember I had a 30 rogue in vanilla with only like 2 or 3 blues (and that was a big a deal) Give a 15 all blues and compare it to a vanilla 30 and of course the 14 will do more dmg.

Killing a raid boss was actually epic back then and not many were able to do raids because back then, (lets face it) everyone sucked at first. You actually had to put time and effort into the game to be good, and nowadays you just have to put in the time to farm and grind for gear, and epic gear is given out like candy nowadays. Instead of making the game better to prevent us from going to SWTOR, Blizzard wants us to buy 12 months in exchange for some goodies. I miss that feeling of epicness :(

Idk what people are saying tbh. 40 mans were odd. In the end I only healed a few people each encounter like I was supposed to, and most encounters throughout the expansion, I just stood there waiting 'till it was my turn to do something. Vanilla WoW was new, I might be the only one, but really, it wasn't anything special at all.

Vanilla was great if you had a good raiding guild.
Was a part of Method before they became "famous", back in mc/bwl/aq40 days & it was just amazing to be a part of that (yay for splinky getting the mount :p), i quit playing that character for some time after that though because the time investment was pretty wild. So i never got to see old naxx. Vanilla was just cool because wow wasn't so mainstream & had a better overall community because of that.

I do miss old Naxx but some fights like faerlina, heigan, and probably loatheb. Never reached KT as sapphiron wasn't kind with us :P
Still i remember most ppl in the raid having like 2-3% hit during those days, we didn't care about stats. We did our best to beat a fight with any means necessary( Darkmoon faire buff+onyxia+Zg buff ftw) xD

WoW is a better game today. People that just start playing talk about how great it is and my friends who started in Wotlk say that was the best expansion ever. It all depends on what expansion you started in and what you had more fun in. BC wasn't better, you just had more fun because the game still felt new.

Saying that TBC was better is just rubbish. You can't honestly been playing since 05' - Boring instances and the only raid that was kind of interesting and original was Karazhan / magtheridon. No good World-PvP Everyone was staying in Shattrah. The feeling was gone imo. Arena was the only good thing with tbc.

vanilla cannot be compared to the other expansions, it just was too different, but nevertheless enormous fun.
the causual concept for wotlk and cata is destroying the game imo.

Some of us did make it to naxx in vanilla, but only very late, and too close to tbc. Personally, the guild I was in cleared two wings and got halfway on the other two.
I'm willing to counter-bet that the people watching these videos are the people who actually THINK about vanilla days. And the only people thinking about them were the people who were there. We're proud of what little we achieved, okay?

@orim In my opinion blizzard would be better off to cancel all public and private test realms as well as in game help on mechanics and such to bring back the CHALLENGE in warcraft that was so well presented in pre-bc. @orim nilla was amazing but the work you had to put in for gear was irritating as hell but totally worth it i received 8/9 pre bc cause we couldn't get down sapphiron and kelthuzard before BC but we got it early 70 and finished off my set obtaining the ring and i gotta say this is the highlight of raiding to its biggest difficulty to date not many players got to experience the difficulty of this place and how it challenged everyone in the group to work there ass off to achieve great feats

You'd have to be an idiot to think that Vanilla's encounters were more difficult than today's. The only thing "hard" back then was the reputation grinds, the artificial set-backs of resist gears, the leading of 39 other players. Only a few percentage saw Kel'thuzad because WoW didn't have the same amount of players it does now.
Now, even with Heroic PTRs, mass datamining, theorycrafting, 5-year raid conditioning, and you still have the top guilds struggling on Yogg+0, LK, and even today's Rag.

@tomank101 The issue was that Naxx wasn't out that long before BC came out. High end vanilla content likely has the same % of people who have completed it as the current heroic raids. The difference is that in Vanilla that small % of people were the only people who even SAW the content. So basically devs spent all of that time developing Naxx only to have 1% of the player base experience it. You don't have to be a genius to see how bad that design philosophy is in the long term.

@smallbrownbeavers it's all about the gear. In the cata expansion they started to give you blues at 15. I remember I had a 30 rogue in vanilla with only like 2 or 3 blues (and that was a big a deal) Give a 15 all blues and compare it to a vanilla 30 and of course the 14 will do more dmg.
