  • I was 19 too - watched it live and still love this song and this group. Memories!! Thank you for the video.

  • Dear Lord, I was 19 and watched this live - and oh those outfits lol

  • Abba only went disco when everyone ELSE went disco, after @ 1976 & Dancing Quuen. The first couple albums--Waterloo, Fernando, etc. etc. definitely not disco. :-)

  • abba is the best

    thank you for that music

  • you wont see Queen here get you are checking out the wrong band Abba is my favourite all time band very closely followed by Queen may I add

  • I like singing this on karaoke. WATERLOOOO!

  • May I recommend the book 'An Essential Guide To Music In The 1970s' by Johnny Zero. The author is a big fan of this track.

  • napoleon for president

  • welcome all to the greatest band ever

  • @Gusdocs1 I don't see Queen here....

  • @PauseForGames Queen are AWESOME .. also .. but ABBA is my no. 1 :-)

  • That was THE music <3

  • Kamionki - jezioro w kujawsko-pomorskim to były czasy moja mama miała w 1974r 15 lat ja obecnie 23-lata i słuchamy ten utwor jakby było to dziś

  • Tenían que ser europeos este grupo, para que hayan sido tan exitosos, y sus canciones que todavía percuten en nuestro días.

  • I Love this Song ;)

  • most beautiful song in Eurocontest.

  • Italian song "Si" was better than Abba's Waterloo. But Abba is a classic, and they did better songs after Waterloo. Apart from that, at first Abba chose "Hasta Mañana" (best song for me) to perform for Eurovision, but they did prefer it finally.

  • @OscarGamarra2014 ABBA was by far the best even they did better songs later on. And "Waterloo" was surely the bettr choice compared to "Hasta Mañana". Actually this song was chosen the best ESC song ever in 2005.

  • @MelodyVision19th I prefer "Hasta Mañana", you prefer "Waterloo", but we all have something in common here: We LOVE ABBA.

  • ABBA are amazing!

  • Perfect storm in music world in the 70's... Thank you Abba. We love you. Thank you from Turkey.

  • @ankmuratt

    absolutely ı agree............

  • @alienatedalienated This is not disco :))

  • This is the music my parents liked when I was a kid. That is why I listened to Kiss, Steve Miller Band, AC/DC, etc.... It's fun now I listen to ABBA now. My parents still hate the others.

  • I remember my reaction when I first watched this, live on TV, as it actually happened in 1974. It was so different to anything that Eurovision had seen before, and it was rather shocking actually, in the context of the twee past successes like "Puppet on a string" that we were all accustomed to expect, in those pre-Abba days...

Little did I know that this performance was eventually going to lead to one of the biggest musical success stories of all time...

I'm jolly pleased that it did..!

  • sweden's biggest export werent they

  • The aspect ratio is wrongs, that's why their faces seem very wide - and the girls' butts too :).

  • @softdown123 this I did 2 years ago - i have much better upload in FestfoletEurovision channel .

  • @Festfolket * FestfolketEurovision

  • After 1974 Eurovision turned into a gay fest. :P

  • Ah, 1974, when men looked more like women than women did!

  • @slaphaddalztick at least they weren't EMO

  • Schade, dass ABBA nicht mehr gibt;-(

  • Iknow this post is dated but on the night of the contest, my country, the U.K, gave this classic zero points, which explains the backwater we were and to a certain extent still are musically. With the possible exception of Queen we have created nothing of any merit for 40 years.

  • @TheSsmith64 Surely you are joking - The Clash,Smths, The Jam, Depeche Mode, Def Leppard, Motorhead,

Iron Maiden, Alan Parsons, Talk Talk, Squeeze, Duran Duran, The Cure, Eurythmics, The Police, The Jam, Oasis, The Waterboys, Keane, Travis, Blur, Radiohead, Coldplay, The streets, The Coral.......... and that doesn't even scratch the surface. Giving this classic zero was the oversight of the century I agree, but c'mon, nothing of any merit for 40 years??

  • RIP Sven-Olof Walldoff. Your arrangements of the early music of ABBA, both the group and its individual members, were as much responsible of the ABBA sound as the music itself.

  • I've lived in Brighton all my life and have danced on that same stage...so have both my daughters and one of my granddaughters. That's our claim to fame lol

I still love playing all their music....it's never been bettered by any group!

  • I love ABBA! The songs that win Eurovision now are awful!

  • it's not only a video, but the history from the music.

  • she is a good singer in ABBA

  • @kevin184988 Who? I suppose, you mean Agnetha?

  • good times, good times

  • Look how relaxed they look!

  • the costumes looks awful but the song is great!!!!

  • That applause was disgusting!!!! They deserve so much more.

  • When I first heard Abba on the radio I knew this was a group that would be around for a very long time.Their music lifted our spirits so high and you fell in love with them immediately.Could not get enough of this sensation that had swept the airways and the Television. And even tho the radio stations played their music non stop we would call in and request them even more.Abba you rock.55LINDA11

  • Eurovision is not the same anymore :(

  • There's something wrong in the world. This could seriously still compete for the win in ESC. There must be something in the water in Sweden.

  • I sung this in class while learning about Napoleon. :D

  • I have loved many recent Eurovision entries, but no song will ever come close to this.

  • Unlike most of my friends that love Hannah Montana songs and Miley, my favourite is ABBA, they think I'm weird. I just tell them: Unlike Miley and Hannah, ABBA never did anything bad: like posting nude pics online, and their music is way beter

    sorry 4 my english

  • @Lazydina what's so bad about posting nude pictures?

  • @Ninjistic well, lets just say that there are a lot of young Miley fans .. and most of them want to be like her..

  • Lol@ Bennys guitar :D

  • @VeronicaGSweden Benny has no guitar .. he has a piano :-)

  • @Festfolket You think that's Benny at 2:09? I think that's actually Bjorn.

  • @LogoMan8888 VeronicaGSweden wrote "Bennys guitar " when Benny plays the piano and .. yes it is also Benny at 2:09 playing piano.

  • @Festfolket Looks like Bjorn to me.

  • @LogoMan8888 I have been ABBA fan since 1975 so i certainly know how to tell Björn from Benny :-))

  • @Festfolket OK, if that isn't Bjorn at the piano, then where is he?

  • @LogoMan8888 He is playing the star shaped guitar

  • @VeronicaGSweden forget that. Look at Agnetha's pants and boots! D:

  • great real winner

  • 2:12 to 2:15 . worst mimic on the world !

  • Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but i do recall watching the showin 74 and realising iwas watching something very special,i,m old and wizzend now, still enjoy EUROVISION but its become ajoke here in U.K

  • @TheSsmith64 Indeed, the last few years we've put next to no effort into our song, even last year when Lord Lloyd Webber wrote it we still got nil points.

  • ABBA and Lordi are the only Eurovision winners worth a damn... two, TWO, out of how many years? My God that's sad...

  • I'd listen to music like this 10/10 instead of modern soulless shit.

(music like this and rock. I need nothing more)

  • CRACKWOOD

  • i just had a really strange urge to listen to this song. im 15, and i've never listened to abba in my entire life...

  • @heyyninaa - If you go to my channel and look in my Favorites list, you will find about 99% of the songs ABBA ever did and 100% of those are great songs! :) Enjoy! :)

  • ABBA was so much more than merely a "pop" group.

  • @TomArayafied For me the word pop or pop group does not mean simple at all. In the category "pop" you find a lot of good music and artists.

  • @Festfolket well yes your right arnt you, because pop means popular, so if a lot of people like it then will be rare that there is nothing good that the people who have real taste appreciate ;-)

  • @Festfolket Yes, but a lot of bad ones, as well.

  • A good band like abba is pure cheating in a contest like the eurovision

  • @rodgu What do you mean ?

  • @Festfolket Att ett så pass bra band som Abba är fusk i en tävling som schlagerfestivalen ;)

  • @rodgu Jeg er nu glad for de var med. Så Sverige ikke bare skulle have dem for sig selv ... :-P

  • @rodgu

    This was their breakthrough

  • @TheManuRulesIsBack Well, that's not my point, what i said is that eurovision songcontest really doesn't involve good bands. By adding a good band like Abba into such a contest is (in an ironical way) cheating. And no, just because someone's famous doesn't mean they are good musicians. Just look at bieber or rebecca which is too famous for the good of this world. Abba was just as good before eurovision as they were after.

  • @rodgu a that time they weren't that famous....(only in their country they were known)..then when they won the eurovision they became famous worldwide

  • @rodgu Waterloo was Abbas breakthrough and what made them famous.

  • Qué bailongas!

  • Wow! Great to see this. No wonder they won Eurovision that year.

  • that was the winner? its good song but injust.. the winner for me its peret from spain

  • So young!

    So Frisky!

  • Holy smokes I saw this one when they won and hoped to hear more from them. I was only18 or 19 then.. They blew all the rest away that night.

  • sounds like they are actually NOT lip-synching this one. Great!!

  • @doofus0123 In Eurovision Song Contest everybody HAS to sing live so definetely no lip synching here :-)

  • @doofus0123 They could sing all of their songs live perfectly, if you look hard enough you'll find them! I think it was just a case of the music and orchestration being so complicated, it was very hard to replicate it in a T.V. studio. They managed it on live tours obviously and were excellent!!!

  • @stillovescott People are forgetting that mimed performances wasn't rare during those says. Even in the 80's. My mother has all of these wonderful VHS tapes and most of them had mimed performances...SOLID GOLD is a good example and other televised performances also. She has tapes of Samantha Fox, Olivia Newton John, Peter Cetera, Human League etc all lipsynching their hits. I think it was more a matter of convenience. The ABBA girls were great singers & their many live perfomances prove it.

  • I was 12 back then. Seen them on a 15" black and white TV screen... I STILL remember it! It was like nothing I've heard before! We were all sure THIS was going to be the winner!

  • @Kostagh

I was only 7 years then and I can say that ABBA have influenced my whole life.

  • Where was the saxo?

  • Comment removed

  • @belbuc

They never were 6. I don't know you this but it is false.

  • @belbuc They had drummer and bass player on stage here. But they were never ABBA members

  • @belbuc do you mean the dumbgoose?????lol

  • @belbuc do you mean the drumbgoose?????lol

  • Where can I get a guitar like that?!?!?!?1

  • this was real talent than that shit today is making "auto tune" bring back the 50s-90s!!

  • Bjorn's squigy voice cracks me up!

  • abba has 40 better songs

  • @qxw66 lets stay all in abba bliss, this is a killer tune too the history book on the shelf is always repeating itself wonderful!

  • Great video. This is one of the only live performances by Abba where it actually sounds like they're singing live.

  • love this song, saw it actually, when it was going on, but now i need that blue outfit, halloween is coming soon...............

  • how i wish i was there during their times.... im a big fan though...

  • Смешные девчонки....

  • amazing song ABBA UNFORGETABLE!!!!

  • eurovision hasnt rly come along way what with songs...and stupid costumes...but only ABBA can pull it off! THEIR FUNKY AS! ABBA for life!

  • The song that launched the beginning of a glam pop era for thousands of Euro-trash drag queens, remember this win too - how old does that make me??? Arrgghhh

  • I remember watching this on our new Baird Colour TV when I lived in the UK and they still blow away all the bouncy Europop confections since then. Of course I went out to Woolworths the next week and got the single for 99p. Still have it.

  • @sandiegoharleyguy Hold onto that, i had the single as well and it had the swedish version on side b, and not sure what happened to it but all I know is it is valuable.

  • This is the only good song we Swedes have had.

  • @AnimalsInMyHeart ur wrong. most of ABBA's songs were "best"

  • Did everyone else pack up and go home after seeing this performance?

  • @deedubya286 haha .. would have been a wise thing to do LOL ! Though there were more good entries that year :-)

  • @deedubya286

"the history book on the shelf is always repeating itself"

    Lyrics made in heaven.

  • I never get tired of hearing that group songs they make travel in time [abba simply the best yesterday ,today ,always. ]
