Also ask yourself whether MSNBC have an agenda. If you answered no, rethink. If you said yes, how is that different than Fox News (or for that matter the NYTimes) trying to influence public opinion...But Charlie Rose knows this, he was just playing to his audience.
I believe when he says "we tried" he is referring to the editorial aspect of his media "empire." Most media outlets have an editorial page that is separate from its hard "news" page. The New York Times in its editorial page takes positions on major issues every day (almost exclusively left-of-center positions). Surely through this they're helping to "shape an agenda."

I've also been studying political movements similar to that of the neoconservatives throughout the 20th century, and I've learned that they enable a variety of things (these can range from social to foreign to economic policy) that I would like to see happen that are not possible under normal political settings.
Not that people like Murdoch would necessarily care about these issues. However they would enable some of these goals for purely political reasons.

Fox News isn't what is expressing Rupert Murdoch's personal opinion, it's some of his newspapers that have done that. Whereas Fox News is expressing what their reporters and anchors say and they have a healthy balance of liberals and conservatives to try and make it balance. Obviously its impossible to be 100% balanced but Fox News is the closest to being fair and balanced out of all of the broadcast and cable networks combined.

I've also been studying political movements similar to that of the neoconservatives throughout the 20th century, and I've learned that they enable a variety of things (these can range from social to foreign to economic policy) that I would like to see happen that are not possible under normal political settings.
Not that people like Murdoch would necessarily care about these issues. However they would enable some of these goals for purely political reasons.

Fox News isn't what is expressing Rupert Murdoch's personal opinion, it's some of his newspapers that have done that. Whereas Fox News is expressing what their reporters and anchors say and they have a healthy balance of liberals and conservatives to try and make it balance. Obviously its impossible to be 100% balanced but Fox News is the closest to being fair and balanced out of all of the broadcast and cable networks combined.

I don't get the outrage on this topic. Every media outlet - whether left wing, right wing, anarchist or anti-christ - offers its OPINION on topics, and is fully free to do so. It is our job, as human beings (and not sheep) to take a critical look at this information and come to our own conclusions.

I agree, jjjfisher123, but when you have "Focus Groups" the likes of Frank Luntz conducts at the most recent GOP Debate, which clearly shows many of these viewers are not in tune with media biases and aren't even aware they are being manipulated, then this is dangerous. In theory, you are correct. But if human beings don't even realize the manipulation, especially when you have a War Mongering POV that actually endangers us as a nation, then this is very, very dangerous.

It's a very serious problem because Rupert Murdoch has power news outlet (Fox news for example), and he can influence news and shape commentators opinions which other major owners of news media couldn't. Because his support of Bush administration, we don't know the reality of Iraq war. In addition, because he owns multinational companies, he can evade taxation with ease.

Kurdistan-Iraq remained under 1992 constitution and Iraqs new constitution clause #137 has retained Kurdistans 1992 status all along.sadam was not denounced or deposed by Iraqi Parliamen under clause #58.
He remained President of Iraq by virtue of retaining presidency of Kurdestan-Iraq, isn't it?

ha, considering 4 of the 5 major networks are liberal-left leaning i think it's important that you have a different angle on events.

I think if you say that there has been an extreme rightward shift, and that there is virtually no real liberal voice out there, so centrist is what you would call liberal... yes, in that case, there are left wing networks.
You should check out one of the investigative journalism reports on the media and politics. You might be surprised what you find. Fox really is a worrisome influence on public discourse.
