@Hoppus217 I went to see The Big 4 lately. Metallica had the best sound, lights, fireworks and big screen behind them. James' singing was melodic and he did lot of interaction with the crowd. Metallica was the only band which combined fast thrash songs like Creeping Death with slower ballads like Fade to Black or Welcome Home. That was my impression. Mustaine sounded like a dying dog and was probably nailed to the floor with the rest of the band.

Kirk Hammett has influences so many guitarists that you probably listen to these days. Listen to kirk's solos in The Unforgiven, Bleeding Me, Wherever I May Roam, The Outlaw Torn, (welcom Home) Sanitarium, and Fade To Black. I don't think James' voice was "destroyed" per se. He blew it out back in the day, yes, by not knowing self control, but the voice lessons in recent years have helped him. He sounds different, yes, but can carry a melody better now that he's not just growling, so I give him props, plus age doesn't improve much of anything when it comes to the human body, and James is not in his 20's anymore. It's just a fact of life unfortunately.
