Ok...STFU about the whole paintball is better than airsoft or vice-versa bullshit. How about both sports just recognize their similarities and see that they can both be fun. Personally I prefer to play airsoft because I enjoy the realism, but I have many friends who prefer paintball. But I'll play paintball and they'll play airsoft. No matter what we end up having a great time...Even if I do destroy them all at airsoft :P

I play both speedball and airsoft on a regular basis. I've tried woodsball, which is effectively airsoft with paintball guns, and found that even RAMs don't approach the realism of airsoft guns. Paintball is more geared towards fast-paced adrenaline-pumping battles, whilst airsoft is more of a military simulation sport. Also, please don't bring up pain; I don't play either to get hurt, and I'm sure you don't either.

1. Airsoft is restricted to age 18+ in most countries.

2. Militaries around the world use airsoft for training. The US uses Systema PTW (professional training weapon), China uses the Realsword QBZ95 etc.

3. Gas airsoft guns sound exactly the same as a paintball gun.

4. Paintball is the more expensive sport.

5. You're probably talking about simunition. Airsoft is now being used for the realism and lower costs, as well as conserving perfectly good weapons.

@jab7805 I'm in the UK. You need to be 18 to purchase and possess realistic imitation firearms. They do have brightly coloured ones for under-18s and non UKARA holders, but the purchase age is still 18. Most sites also restrict player age to 16 and up.

@IIKiboshII Because we dont need paintball guns to use paint rounds. Simmunition uses a modifieds bolt on a REAL gun so no toys are required. But its also marketing technique it seems. Branch into the airsoft market with guys who love guns and things of the sort. only a matter of time before they become customers. But yeah, airsoft is cooler and i play it. There were even AEGs on Sand Hill when I was there in '06. they got no use tho. why use toys when we cuold use blanks?
