  • I was born in 1973. Yet I've seen all these cartoons you've downloaded. Does anyone know where I saw them, why I saw them, when I saw them? Sounds like a silly question, but these hit me hard and I remember them so well. These morality tales are so much stronger than the crap I grew up with- selling Super-friend dolls, GI Joe and He-Man figurines and pop-poop culture plastic toys. I never cared for playing with toys, yet these type of cartoons taught me something real. Any input is welcome.

  • It's a good thing that I never caught on to the grim ending of this cartoon back when I was a kid.

  • The voice acting of some of the characters in this cartoon remind me of Popeye and Bluto..

  • i miss this

  • The lil chap urging him to gamble is The Green Manalishi, who appeared to Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac) in a dream. Money is the devil.

  • The people who found a dime should have gone into a homeless shelter instead of gambling with that dime or anything else.

  • LOVE Modern Madcap cartoons. These were my faves growning up. The Music in the beginning was great. Thanks for the nostalgia.

  • And so the vicious cycle of gambling goes on and on and on.

  • Haha, dude sounds like Frank Fontaine.

  • Comparison moment: This cartoon is the rise in Greed shown plain as day in regular joes. Johnny Test is random cheesy-ass BULL(BLEEP) which is a total hack off of the original classic Johnny Quest. I pick one. I pick the cartoon with the implied suicide, because it's something everyone has to know.

  • I have to say, those Modern Madcap cartoons were rather disturbing.

  • This is similar in tone to "Finnegan's Flea" (1958), which also had an unhappy ending. Lead animator Tom Johnson designed the charcaters, 'bahji'. Jack Mercer is the voice of the "conscience"; Jackson Beck is "Lucky Louie" and several "croupiers". "Mazel Tov", incidentally, is Hebrew for "Good Luck".

  • Ahhh great stuff. THey just don't make em like this anymore!

  • This cartoon would have felt epic to me if he really did lose the first time, and just walked away and that was the end of the picture :)

  • Who okay'd these butt-ugly designs for these cartoons?

  • 6:17 - Holy shit! That IS a sore loser!

  • no wonder this was never on television. It has a good moral, quit while your ahead or don't gamble, but then he kills himself and the green dude just keeps on going after the poor suckers

  • Yes. It was already shown on TV. Great cartoon with nifty animations for a Modern Madcap short.

  • Feels more like a Twilight Zone episode :)
