Not sure if its been mentioned, but turning the windows sounds off can be pretty handy too. just incase something does pop up, or it tries to alert you of something. although, if your running sound through a software controller, this shouldn't be too much of an issue. but, just another little tip. great vids though mate, keep up the good work!
The best advice I've ever seen anyone give, all common sense stuff.i run a pc just as well as any mac book, glad you were actually neutral on that front,Gr8 video!
If you're using Serato with a macbook (pro) it would be wise to buy an iSkin or any brand of Serato keyboard skins. this is a thin rubber layer that goes over your keyboard and has all the shortcuts mapped out so you can always find your shortcuts. Even more important, it protects your macbook against liquid. It has saved my macbook twice!
very good aspects... thank you! but if the screen of the macbook is to smal for you take an external screen and if 2 Usb are not enough , take a usb hub for the thunderbold !
I really appreciated this, Phil. I've heard a lot of people say that it's necessary to have x and y in a laptop in order to dj, but I've been running a fairly cheep laptop for some time and it's worked just fine. As you said, it's all about playing music at the end of the day. Keep the good advice coming.
@DJCript1 If you need 2 external HDDs then you should really think about upgrading your externals. I have a 1tb external HDD and a 250gb HDD in my laptop, combined that is more then you should need for a gig. If you have to have more then 1 external HDD with you at a gig then you should take at look at why you have to bring more then 1.
@DJYukiSorrelwood I have several, but only need 1 for djing the portable ones have the 2 usb cords "usb y cable" but yer now that I think about it I should put everything onto one =D
@DJCript1 See sometimes all it takes is someone else to look in on your gear to help you see some issues. Hope you can also clean out old/bad files while you move them onto 1 external HDD. I have well over 200k songs and I have been cleaning them out all day and night for weeks. Take it from me, having only the songs you want and like to play and having a drunk fool yell at you because you dont have his "song" is better then having every song out there.

@djTLMtv I heard that it basically fries your hard drive though, as the air can't get out?

@LAtechniker Yes that's true, but it's all extra clutter that you could avoid the need for by choosing wisely in the first place.

OMG having 3 USB's Sucks! Please do your self a favor and get more!
I have CDJ400's requires 2 ports
another sound card requires 1 port (to record)
Camera 1 port (to record)
and an external HDD 2 PORTS (to run better)
6 Ports =( I have 3, get at least 4 for the needed stuff (don't need to record at gig)

Great tips. I am looking into a new laptop, do you recommend the HP Beats Envy or the Macbook Pro 15"?

Some cool tips. Having something spill onto my laptop or it breaking from being banged about is one of my worst fears about DJ-ing live.
