  • Wow! What men would do to get women back in the day...

  • This was some funky ish! i still have it on vinyl! I wish they had the chance to do more.

  • So sad that you follow people lie lemmings. Why would you stoop so low and sell yourself out and do shit like this. Would have been a lot better if you guys where not so gay (on a totally non homo level so that is what makes it so bad)

  • wow.. crazy (screamer, aaron) you guys rocked that shit.. whatever happened to the reunion??

  • Love this so much!!!

  • **You knowww...the guy above mentioned something about hip-hop..I'm 1/2 African American & I can say, I really agree. I like hip hop, don't get me wrong..but hip hop is loved by certain people. This music, Prince, The Time & others it was definite Funk music and it was loved by so very many different people. You loved it, wanted to dance to it, they lyrics you loved...it was just music that almost everybody loved..white black, asian, older, younger. It's just so different today!

  • This Is One Band That Prince Put Together

  • @AJm53206 mark brown put the band together

  • @drummer3341 Mark Brown Was In Prince's Band So Mazarati Is Part Of

    His Posse Dumb Ass

  • @AJm53206 Wow such a child to call me a dumb ass. Let see I was there at the beginning when mark put the band together. I was in a band with mark before Prince call Phantesy. Do you know the original guitar player for Mazarati, His name George. I might have been the drummer but I wasnt going to quit my job to do it. At the time I had a wife and kid. Iv been to there rehearsals in marks mothers home. To there gigs. I know jerome since jr high Prince did not discover these guys

  • @AJm53206 BTW The reason why Mazarati got cut from Prince record label is Mark was going to quit prince's band. Prince made it clear if he doesnt stay in his band Mazarati will be cut from the label. Mark quits the band gets cut. Now if prince discovered the band why cut them if Mark quits revolution. Hmm and all you can do is respond with is dumb ass. LOL

  • @drummer3341 I agree. If "Brown Mark" formed/discovered Mazarati, they are part of HIS Posse not Prince's.

I've loved that Minneapolis Sound from the beginning, from His Royal Badness to The Family!!! Wish I could've been in that circle.

  • Still have the original album. this brings me back!

  • Blu, yo unc and the rest of the band have MAD LOVE here in CALI, we appreciated them for their raw funk'kay funk'kay jam's, they can come here to the bay area anytime and blow this spot up ! MAZARATI C O O L CAT 4 LIFE !

  • looks like this is where Ready For the World got their start

  • Found their album at a local Goodwill for .99, in great shape. I about crapped my pants. Had been wanting this for a long time. Another great funk band of the 80's. Prince connections are hot shyte.

  • I remember this band 100% kick ass

  • @blu11777

Tell your uncle if Mazarati gets back together and release an album please do not play hip-hop or put a rap artist in their songs come back with the glam- funk- rock they are known for and us fans will buy their albums with a passion. Real fans young and old don't want Drake or Micki Minaj on a Mazarati Jam !!!

  • @TheNewsoul2 Nahhhh lol , Mazarati is funk all the way , lol Rap really isnt my unc Terrys thing, and thank u very much for ur comment, ur letter put a smile on his face : )

  • @blu11777 When I was a young Funkateer growing up in Brooklyn NY this was the cut for the summer of 86' this was another HIGH POWERED Jam from an underrated group do tell your Uncle that he has my respect for life this Album is still one of my favorites and still holds up to the majority of what is supposed to bemusic Today. God bless Kyle S. Christian

  • @kscotto8

hey christian , thank u soo much for ur comment and i will let him know , for ya Godbless

  • @blu11777

Blu, please ask your uncle why Mazarati canceled their gig at the Ritz (in NYC) back in the day? I had tickets to see them but instead of being able to get my money back I had to settle for Billy Preston who was their replacement.

    I'm sure Mazarati would've been a blast. :-)

  • @blu11777 man thats on the strength just one more time cane them boys rock us for the old times they aint dead yet

  • @ThePookie27 No there not dead . LOL They still play but for them selves really , there all holding jobs , my unc is working the night shift so the week end is really the only time they get 2gether and rehash memories , lol and play some music , my unc Terry says there all to old to travel , lol lol i think thats bull , but u know what can u do , right

  • @blu11777 Cool to meet u Blu Casey, Keep the Funk Alive!

  • @blu11777

    hey blu

listening to mazarati on a daily basis was an amazing time in my life.i started my first job and grew with many new friends.its is such a blessing that we have the power at our fingertips to take us back to the funky days.thank you to mazarati and all the new revolution of prince proteges that flew under the purple ones wings.these were sunny summer days of fresh love and character.the feeling of being sexy and honing a power of control from this music.was a great feeling

  • @blu11777 Would you happen to know how I could get a hold of their version of Jerk Out? It's a little different from the Time. I actually like the Mazarati version better.

  • i wont to say this was part of the punk rock/funk era??

  • Love this song. What ever happened to the lead singer?

  • these girls can jam

  • MPLS glam, REP!! sparkle sparkle...

  • this is some old skool stuff, prince produced group mazerati. they use 2 jam, even though they looked like girlz, lol,

  • Promise not fulfilled , this was a very good band .

  • I knew these guys growing up. wonderful talent

  • If you look at them, they all look like a different version of Brown Mark. Check out the Purple Rain tour live from Syracuse NY and you"ll see what I'm talking about. Tamara and the scene as well.

  • @tmewarp5 YEP!!!

  • I say this with love, but this is probably one of the most hilarious R&B videos of the 1980's. The song's lyrics are goofy enough, but the guys look ridiculous with those outfits on. Believe it or not, it was actually Prince who pushed the members of Mazarati to dress them up the way they did here. The guys unfortunately look rather clownish and it ends up causing the song and video to be so hilarious and ridiculous that it practically borders on self-parody.

  • wow!!! he was like big version of PRINCE!!!!!!! lmao.....i like it!!

  • This is real music and a REAL band.

  • No this group was not a Jesse Johnson creation. This was brownmarks baby.

  • Jesse Johnson's creation....They were wild!

  • "I bet you think the way I look -- I'm gay/don't be afraid, I just dress that way" LMMFAO. At least dude was honest. I liked Mazarati's album (especially that song "Suzy", LOL), but that androgynous look that Prince made famous was beyond hilarious.

  • Great album, the dancing is terrible. Lots of overacting.

  • Man i had their cassett.e i had it till it got stolen. I believe they were hand picked by Prince and funded everyting

  • WOW!! I CANT BELIEVE YOU HAVE THIS!

  • they looked like women but they sure could play some music, coming from prince type producers what do u expect,.

  • Truly a band that broke up before they were meant to.

  • a bunch of fags with wigs

  • and pearls.

  • At first look, you are kind of disappointed that the video quality is poor. In actuality, it's probably best because these people are odd.

  • GET YOUR RINGTONE

TEXT 3151165 to 69937 to get 'Dj Avevor ft E6 Swangin Doz [Slab'

  • @Merrida thank you for that correction. But whatever, Mazarati was funky.

  • Glam Slam from MPLS

  • Let your soul glo....

  • awsome band!!!!!

  • Prince's best offspring. Jammin riffs.

  • They are a Brownmark project...not Prince.

  • I STILL pump this song in my car...matter of fact I just did!! 100 mph next!

  • U had to beat the girls off with a stick with that look. They went wild over u.

  • I have the extended 12 Inch of this in my closet. I think the B-Side is one of my favorite ballads of all time "I GUESS ITS ALL OVER". This song was cool but my joint is 100 MPH written by Pri ... oops ... I meant "Jaimie Starr" lol.

  • And for the few that know, MPLS sound opened the door....

  • Mazarati was mad funky! Glitter Funk maybe?! The drag queen look was definitly in during the 80's!!

  • Yep, and was evident even in most music genres, lol.

  • It's not drag....it's called Glam Slam...attracting women with a mirror of themselves.

  • I luv this, this is totally my style. Go 80's

  • I wonder if they still have that VH1 show that unite bands I would love to see these guys again.

  • Yea. America is clamoring for the reuniting of Mazarati.

  • Hey I just about remember this song way back.

  • I like at 1:09 where the keyboardists are getting their dance on. This song is THE JAM.

  • Hip hop ,and the hip hop mentality has destroyed all the REAL MUSIC!!!!

  • Careful what you say... Hip Hop did not destroy anything. It's naive consumers mesmerized by contrived "images" that enabled industries to rape and steal Hip Hop elements for their own monitary gain. It was stripped of it's true flavor to sell to mainstream white audiences. You don't know real hip hop you just know pop music that STEALS from the culture.

  • People who cannot play instruments speaking rhythmically in rhymes over music they don't have the musical education to create? I think you're talking about lyrics, not music. Real hip hop is a lyrical art form, not a musical one. I fully support the old timers who were more social critics than uneducated morons talking about their rims and being at/in "Da Club".

  • Pop music steals WHAT from WHICH culture? Popular music is a mix of things from all over the world, not WHITE stealing from BLACK. Jazz music did not exist in Africa. So how is it that people of African descent get brought to this country, get influenced by the instruments and music that did not exist in Africa, make music WITH OTHER CULTURES that evolves into many different styles yet all you can think is that it all came from Africa? Not everything comes from Africa, my friend.

  • you know shit about shit so shut the fuck up you stupid , uneducated asshole..... and go fuck your mother one more time!!

  • John Coltrane's innovations came from studying modern classical, (European) music. Why don't you say he was stealing? Because he wasn't. You like something you hear and you add it to your own music. It's always been that simple. You think the Hip Hop pioneers weren't doing that shit to get paid? You don't think every black man or woman who has their own label would be doing it if there wasn't money involved? The devils in the world aren't exclusively white. I do it for the art. I am very rare.

  • God, is this video a nightmare.

  • This was when music was music down with that mess they call music these days, couldn't get any of them in a room full of instruments to play anything, a rat pissing on cotton would sound better

  • The last of the great FUNK bands. Non-existent now, True Funk bands like this didnt have that stupid Hip Hop attitude that supposed "bands" in R&B have today.

  • @GazamYT You are soooooo Right man. Is there still a scene in Minneapolis? The only band from that area to be doing it is Mint Condition. Although thier style is different from Mazarati's

  • Great song. I have the 12" also. Thanks for the upload.

  • man theses guys were the stuff, and i know screamer in real life

  • i still got the 12 inch

  • brown mark put this band together this is clearly the best band from his label talent and independent style

  • finally someone found this video love it

  • Thank you for posting this, I couldn't get another person to believe this band existed once.

  • I still have this 45. ;)

  • I am LATE! I never heard this as a kid back in the day. I loved the Minneapolis sound, but only knew Prince and Janet Jackson.

  • Jackson Jackson was NEVER a part of the Minneapolis sound.

  • Really? I was under the impression she was because Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam produced "Control". If I'm mistaken , hey, I stand corrected :-)

  • this track kicks ass, great band, underrated album these cats never got the attention they deserved fom Prince, between this and the Family albulm Paisley Park could have been more than a boutique label

  • I agree 100%

  • This song is bangin like a screen door in a tornado!!!!

  • Buckeyecat2002, get ur facts straight dumbass

  • whoever said this is a prince song lipsinked by Mazarati ,,,,,,you're fuck'n high

I was at all their shows,,,, and my brother played in this band also,,,,,,the drummer

Prince had nothing to do with this,,,,,,,respond when U know what you're talking about

  • Did Prince put this band together of did Brownmark? I think Prince penned some tunes. Their great I have loved this group for years.

  • your brother was part of a truly awsome funk/rock band that I wish I had the opportunity to have seen live all my best to you and your Fam.

  • Killer song!!! These guys were badass!!!

  • I have this album and I still listen all the time !! One of my all time faves from the PURPLE CAMP!!!

  • i have been trying to find this song for years.. thank you youtube..damn

    Tululahmoon.. you are the shit

  • any band members go on to any other group.........bought the album in LA in 1986...ahhhhhhh 18 and money and in LA didnt get much better

  • You know for us who remember when they came out this was a hot song and group. They really had an edge to them.

  • This is a Prince track,as recorded , and merely lip sinked under contract by Mazarati.

  • Prince did not write this. he wrote 100mph....

  • Comment removed

  • That's not true. My older brother was a member of that band. They played thier music live and sang for themselves.

  • yeah funk like this inspired my crazy raps. this is real music

  • Been looking for this song for forever...

  • This song came out when I was born in 1986,(the decade known as TSOM/The Sound of Minneapolis/Midwest)

  • technically '85,...it was recorded in '85, but came out in '86.....the song "100 mph" by them as well, came out to us in ;85...peace my maun!!!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!

  • i love everything about this

  • The 80s were a hot scalding embarassing mess!!!! I love this damn song!!! Hot scalding mess and all!!!

  • 0:33-0:41= solid fuckin' gold.

  • Great funk song,i love it !!!

  • I didn't know this was a girls group.

  • maybe 5 % girl and 5 % boys

  • i just bought this 7' single AT THE GOODWILL for .75 todAY

  • these cats ROK!!!!!!!!!! TWISTED SISTER FUNK

  • These guys are trying way too hard. And I'm not sure what sex one of the band members is....what a freak show.

  • It was the eighties and a LOT of Minneapolis bands looked like this.....Prince started it and the music was kickin' so enjoy or don't watch...either way get over it. Very few of the bands today make dance music this good anymore.

  • Ohh I forgot! It was the 80's....that explains it and gives it a great reason for this to be an over dramamtic , quasi homo, colossal failure. I remember all the guys in my hood wearing pearls from their grandmother's jewelry box.

  • lol ive seen you on multiple mazarati videos complaining.if you think they are such gay failures yet still watch the vids you must be supressing some quasi homo feelings yourself.

  • a fan of mazarati. dont try to twist my comments around to suit your fantasy.i watch these videos all the time and i see your little comments. (some of them date back over half a year lol what is your secret agenda against them? you have a problem).you are a joke who apparently has no taste in music so please continue to listen to your depeche mode(yes i looked at your profile. ) and whatnot while i jam this heavy mpls funkrock Combo YEAHHH!@

  • The answer is still NO. I won't go out with you or send you a pic of me. I have no problem with your sexuality. It's fine by me. BTW, I own this album, and Good Question, and The Family, and Madhouse, etc etc etc....I like the music. Their visual is disturbing . End-o fact-o. Please stop your obsession of me. Bye pal.

  • lol whatever fag. peace

  • is someone talking to themself?

  • My God they are wearing SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH makeup - still funky as hell though. They were trying to be the new TIME! Didn't work though - i still had this album.

  • BTW, here's a little unknown trivia about Terry...he sews and he would sometimes make his own outfits!! I was talking to him at one of the MN Music Festivals and telling him I made my dress and he said, I made my outfit too. I was WAY impressed!!

  • Who is the "pretty" one playin the guitar to the right (our right) lawd have mercy thats the one i liked....lol

  • hey sweetie thwere is 2 of them on da right?...the one all the way on da end is tony christian (rhythm guitarist)...the one on da left of him is craig "screamer" powell...he is da lead guitarist....does that help?

  • Yeah, it does hes the one with the black guitar so im guessing that would be Tony Christian, omg i wonder if hes still gorgeous like that?...lol lol thank u for responding

  • Ha! Very funny I must say. But an great old school track

  • These clothes look like they were bought at an old woman's garage sale.

  • It was either that or skanky clothes and jeans and sneakers...

  • Oh, by the way, Terri taught me how to play poker!

  • OMG!!! I almost started to cry. I haven't see the guys in so long! I am probably in the crowd. I miss following them around and going to all their shows. Wow, Terri, Romeo Blue, Bruce....miss you guys!!!

Thanks so much for posting this!

  • hey you didn't mention tony christian....he was kewl too, lol.

  • Actually I loved Tony, that's who I was referring to by Bruce. That's his real name and I forgot that he went by Tony. His brother's name is Vernon and I was friends with him. We both worked downtown so I would go and visit him during my lunch break!

  • Thats COOL! So you were THERE in the mid 80's MPLS Funk scene?! Tell us more!

  • I was definitely there. I saw them play where ever I could get in (I was only 17-19)! I also worked with their bodyguard Joe at TJ Maxx so I saw them other times too! So many awesome memories. The night I played poker with Terry & Joe, they called my apartment at 3am to invite us over and I was asleep. I answered the phone and the person on the other side said, 'Hi, this is Sir Casey Terry!' I almost died!!! Their shows were so much fun!!

  • Do you ever get the feeling all of these Prince spin offs would have done better if they just acted a little bit more masculine?

  • I don't know, the heavy metal acts from around that time looked just as feminine with the tight jeans, long hair and eyeliner.

  • Great Song!

  • its been said some of the members was accused of some kiddie porn shit ...is that true?...if so then maybe thats why no flashback radio play, but then again what about r kelly

  • where did you hear that from?...tell us please...you are among friends now...i work in radio and i never heard of that...yeah kelly is pathetic....guilty or not...peace

  • What??? That seems like a rumor. I NEVER heard that. Where did you hear that?

  • Love this vid. their all choreographed, wit they bad asses. What happened to all the really tight r&b performers?

  • i think the reason why the kick dance looked so tight was because of the angle of the camera...lol...it's a simple dance, but the shiot look tight as hell...peace hahahaha

  • That little kick step they do is awesome! Man gotta love that Minneapolis(sp) sound!!

  • yeah it goes right with the song....all minneapolis bands danced like no other...lol..peace

  • We practiced that routine at home so we could do it with them, which was hard when it was crowded but it was fun!!

  • good song--bad look. only prince could get away with dressing like that.

  • with all due respect, you are so wrong, lol...back then all minneapolis protegees' could get away with that look because that is what they did...now anyone else outside of that cult, helltodanaw!!!!

    peace

  • maybe its just me. i liked mazarati but i just never thought the look was rite. but it was the 80s and i remember a few looks that I rocked that i think were not rite either. respect.

  • Well look at it this way, 20 years from now the way we dress now will look weird to others...things change maun...but back then that look blended in with all the other stuff we wore...peace

  • agreed.

  • there are thousands of old school videos on this website bu this may be the most classic because seriously, i can't think of any radio stations who play this song....or even 100 mph anymore...this is a lost video....peace

  • thats why we love da tube.

  • i know thats right! It would take me years to find all this music in record stores!
