This is a gospel song written by Robert Randolph and origonally record by him and the Family Band. The term "Jesus is Just Alright" meant Jesus 'is cool' with me, or Jesus 'meand alot' to me. This was the language of the 60's subculture. Main-stream secualr bands of the 60's and 70's also covered this song, because its a good song all around. And a few Christian bands (DC Talk etc...) coverd it as well, because its a great gospel song as well.

The song is a masterpiece, there's such faith in the 1970s, I used to be a Christian, and was full of enthusiasm when faith had meaning. It went corrupt and I lost faith, the Christians turned to complete arseholes.

I was 11, had my first pony that summer this was playing heavily on the am; the oldest girl at the barn would hang her radio from the door & it would be playing as a bunch of us kids groomed our horses, saddled up, rode for hours through the hot afternoon. This tune brings back so many memories. LOVED that these rockers were 'alright' rocking out to Jesus! Ahhh. if I could 'go back' for ONE DAY, knowing what I know now, just to CHERISH those golden days!
