Great instruction. As a southpaw, I've rolled under the straight right, pivoted and using the inertia, thrown the straight left. What sometimes happens is the opponent gets committed so far forward, you could accidentally foul with a hit to the back of the head. Just an FYI for southpaws using this excellent technique.
I love the Philly shell style but I have somewhat long neck, so its hard for me to do he shoulder roll sometimes, but I can pull my head back farther thus making up for the slight neck length problem with my shoulder roll.....do you think I should increase my shoulder size with weight lifting or will I be ok with what I am doing now?
"Philly Shell" are you kidding me....Wow I get so tired of people in the north taking credit for shit they didn't create. NY claimed to be the creator of the 52 block fighting system yet brother's in the dirty south were doing that shit many many years earlier....Now this...I can remember my grand father showing me this back in 84 and his great grandfather taught him and he wasn't from Philly...He was from Mississippi.
this is retarted, mayweather is a right hander. pacquiao is the lefty. that righty shoulder roll dont work on southpaws. ask judah and demarcus corely. lol.
Although this defense can be used its not advisalbe for a southpaw to use vs orthodox and vice versa. A Traditional high guard is your best bet and safest also.
man...u pacquiao fans are funny...like someone mentioned on here, floyd's shoulder roll is a masterpeice, you're out of your mind if you think pacman can beat floyd... dude is a straight up technician all around. Now, i realize everyone wants to see the fight happen and yall think floyd is duckin him, but lets be real...floyd has nothing to prove, as u can see it doesn't really matter to either of them. They're both eatin good..
@jacob3432 - well..by now you've heard he wants pacman after ortiz....but both of their legacies are set already. that's what i mean by nothin to prove..boxing is already on the decline, those two fight then that's it...lol.. -
shoulder roll? pacman will break floyds shoulder...i dont know if floyd can handle the speed and power punches of pacman...as boxing experts would say SPEED KILLS!
Shoulder Roll in a southpaw stance CAN work. Whitaker occasionally used it. Cory Spinks was probably the best to study and how he used it effectively....
Roach's plan was to break Mayweather's shoulder so bad that the force transfers to the clavicle and breaks it... that is why Mayweather is scared of Pacquiao... no fighter can fight with a broken clavicle...
hey charles thanx for this ive boxing for 5 years and i use the philly in the southpaw stance people didnt think it was useful until they sawme fight but you did good. everything u said is correct if u wud like using it for so long i can show u sum things i kno in the stance with the philly. i just made my new channel so i will put my videos up soon
any chance of doing an updated version of this mate showing me how you would block all types of punches in Philly Shell Defense while in the southpaw stance?
@PureMetalBrute i tryed the counter with you're talkin about and it works is long is you relocate after you land it. But if the guy is fast i counter it with a 2 to the body roll under side step and then a 2 to the head. I only been able to do this in sparing, Ill get my chance to try is saturday in a fight.
there was nothing easy about Marquez' fight against Pac. He trained 14 weeks for that fight and still couldn't come out with a W. He also got caught right on the tip of the chin in the 3rd and was also on queer street in the 10th. We're talking about a prime Marquez at super featherweight, not this 135lb bloated Marquez that we have today . To say Marquez timed his lunges with ease is ignorant. If he was timing Pacquiao with ease, he would've dominated Pacquiao and probably KOd him.
pactards pay attention. this guy forgets about floyd's parrying skills against the jab. floyd's reflexes are so good, he can throw over that jab with the lead hand. nice vid
@meyoutoobthem Pac's left comes so fast and he moves so quick that by the time you duck under he's already on the other side throwing another combo. Pac will also throw that hook to the body. His timing is so good you can't just see it coming and duck under.
@philhaj2 : watch the 12th round of pac's 2nd fight with marquez and see marquez duck underneath pac's punches with ease lol. Pac's timing looks good when he fights slow, stationery or come forward sluggers with zero lateral movement and who don't know how to move their heads.
lol. remember hbo commentators saying marquez definitely won that 12th round, and they gave it to pac. one of a few rounds in that gift decision. the clinic that fight was obvious, and pac had loser written all over his face the whole fight and at the end. no wonder he cried.
@meyoutoobthem: That round shows how easily pac can be exposed by good eyes and good head movement. Can anyone remember seeing cotto, hatton or margarito ducking a punch in any fight ever? These pacturds don't know anything about boxing. That's why pac has been deliberately kept from slick boxers
yeah, and marquez doesnt really move his head a whole lot, he uses footwork and timing to keep pac off balance, then its easy to clobber that big ass dome with combinations because pac cant fight backing up worth a shit.
@meyoutoobthem: true...plus the little bitch doesn't have much of a jab either. He looks good against guys who are there to be hit. When (or if) he fights a guy who gives him nothing to hit he's going to look like a clown cos he doesn't have the tools like a solid jab to set up any punches. That's exactly what the 12th round with Marquez showed
@philhaj2 'his left isnt all that fast, marquez timed his lunges with ease, even his jab is c level. Pac might get off on stiffs and look good, but a mobile fighter gives him fits and always will. right hand dominant fighters touch pac on the regular. pac will be hitting shane right up the middle with lunging lefts all night, yawn.
he's like that to flat footed fighters. He cant play that squared up flurry in the pocket, nor will they fall for side punching and blind straight lefts. sorry, gotta disagree because mobile fighters he used to fight had no problem timing him. cheers.
Get off Mayweather Dick... Stop using his name to get people to watch ur video
