Interesting side note: the serpent told the truth about the tree while God lied. God said if Adam and Eve ate the fruit they would die but the serpent said they'd become like God. After they ate the fruit they survived and gained new knowledge about the world (making them more like God) The only reason they didn't live forever was God then stopped them from eating the fruit of life.

If you are 100 feet tall and know Spanish, then someone 5 feet tall learns Spanish "like" you, you don't say they have become like us knowing Spanish and now they are 100 feet tall too. No, it just means that attribute not all. Actually, he told a half truth which is how people are fooled everyday.
@freemakemoneyonline I'm not jumping to conclusions. I am pointing out that God's description of what happened matched the serpent's promise of what would happen. Word for word. God, on the other hand, told a half truth when he said Adam would die. He didn't die as a direct result of eating the fruit. Rather, he died because God couldn't stand to have another immortal being with his knowledge of good and evil. It says so in the bible, clear as day.
Another interesting side note: the serpent has quite a bit in common with another character in mythology: Prometheus. They both defied their god (or gods) in order to give forbidden knowledge to humans. They were both cursed by their god(s) as a results.
The only difference is the Greeks and Romans considered Prometheus to be humanity's benefactor while Jews and Christians consider the serpent to be its malefactor.

Technically it wasn't an outright lie to say "you will surely die" but it's pretty freaking disingenuous. Also, before they ate the fruit, Adam and Eve had no knowledge of good and evil, correct? This means, by definition, they didn't know right from wrong. They weren't capable of knowing it was wrong to disobey God because they didn't know what wrong was. So why did this allegedly all-loving God punish Adam and Eve (and all their descendants) when they literally didn't know any better?
@MrClickity This is what I'm talking about. You haven't done your Holy homework. They did know right from wrong and consequences because they were given a law to uphold. Right from wrong is not the same as good and evil. A child does not know evil but they understand right and wrong. Also, the word "lest" in that scripture means to prevent. Look it up in a dictionary. They knew better, oh yes they did. Any theologian with a degree will agree with me on this. Even the atheists ones. Ask one.
Something I try to live by is that if your claims are right you wont need to stretch them in any way because what is right will prevail. Why cant you and the people who make these kind of videos stop stretching truth. Yes He knew that Satan would rebel against Him and that man would do the same but God didnt want to reign over things with no will and no desire. @Netwriter God did not create robots. We do not know what Heaven holds for us. Perhaps it's faith that truly leads believers to trust in Him. Heaven is a place we cannot yet understand. What we do know, is that God will be with us. We will be with him. He will care for us and provide. God holds for us true satisfaction instead of satisfaction based on happenings. Read Matthew 5 and perhaps you'll understand a bit more. Faith is a requirement though.

The Greeks: "The gods are petty, vindictive, and jealous" the Norse: "The gods are on our side but they're not all powerful" etc. At least those mythologies adequately explain questions like "why do bad things happen to good people" without the "it's a mystery" cop-out. Interesting side note: the serpent told the truth about the tree while God lied. God said if Adam and Eve ate the fruit they would die but the serpent said they'd become like God. After they ate the fruit they survived and gained new knowledge about the world (making them more like God) The only reason they didn't live forever was God then stopped them from eating the fruit of life.

Another interesting side note: the serpent has quite a bit in common with another character in mythology: Prometheus. They both defied their god (or gods) in order to give forbidden knowledge to humans. They were both cursed by their god(s) as a results.
The only difference is the Greeks and Romans considered Prometheus to be humanity's benefactor while Jews and Christians consider the serpent to be its malefactor.

Technically it wasn't an outright lie to say "you will surely die" but it's pretty freaking disingenuous. @Mad69sur No, sorry. Humanity does not need God. Humans are not weak in any way. The nature of each human is the same. As in, what I can do, you can do. Sure, there are some disabilities but they are taken over by another human sense. What you may consider human nature is most likely wrong. Ask me and i'll tell you if it's human nature. Or just go read how the brain works and what a "blank slate" truly is and you'll be able to tell yourself what human nature is and what isn't.

@CntthnkO15 as humanity prosperes we have less and less fears, in esence that´s why humans turn monotheistic long ago, we maybe stop fearing when we have enough knolege to understand thinks and how to avoid trouble, for example storm, now we have big and strong houses, we sometimes even can´t hear the thunder, even if you are in the midle of a field you know what to do to be safer, that changed many thinks.
But we still have fears, when you lost someone, to pain, to death...

There is a FREE audio Bible online! Google Bible Gateway adds audio NASB bible! There are other versions if you google them as well, such as the KJV, but I enjoy the new American standard version!

@Netwriter God did not create robots. We do not know what Heaven holds for us. Perhaps it's faith that truly leads believers to trust in Him. Heaven is a place we cannot yet understand. What we do know, is that God will be with us. We will be with him. He will care for us and provide. God holds for us true satisfaction instead of satisfaction based on happenings. Read Matthew 5 and perhaps you'll understand a bit more. Faith is a requirement though.
