This is pretty wild. I figured out how to play this song all the way through. And I've been playing it for years. But, if you look at how I play it, it looks totally different. And this is why... I play it with standard drop-D tuning. It never occurred to me that the lower 3 strings were tuned differently.

I've always been a bit confused as to why this song was so difficult to play. Yet, your method sounded better, and seemed easier to play.

It was the bass parts I notice were different first and they make quite a noticeable difference when they're not played. Also, the chords during the strumming part are different from the guitar pro file and yours seems easier and still sounds right. I'll definitely be watching the video a few more time to try and figure out what's going on.

No matter how I eventually learn it, you are right it's a blast to play (as well as most Days of the New songs are).

I found the correct tuning online (which I demonstrate at the beginning of the video for y'all!) then yes, I learned how to play it all by ear.  I've also figured out a way to incorporate a bit of the bass line into how I play it so it sounds more complete.
