I am not totaly sure as i have not had the a230, but i think they would be the same.. its just the a300 has some extra fetures on it... in terms of quality probably the same..... also alot of picture qaulity comes from the way you take the picture.. and dont be fooled by the mega pixel marketing.. have a good read of articles about mega pixels and you will soon see it is just to sell you the camera as the qaulity is in the lenses, the prossesor, and the way you set the cam up..
No...lol.. only kidding... to be honest i dont really have techniques.. i just experiment and some are crap and others are good... this is a old vidio now and to be honest some of the photos make me laugh.. i am alot better now.
sorry for the late reply, thanks for your nice comment, and no i am by no means professional... the picture you are asking about from what i can remember was just a long exposure shot so i would have had it in s mode and set it to about 2 seconds.. good
mate, u got very good photos .. are you sure u took it from a350 my god.. so professional.. i got a200.. is there any difference between 350 n 200//// do u use any software to edit them.. or they are just raw images.. thnx in advance.. so nice pics.. falling in love mate thnx
it is actually the a300 i have, and no not much differents from the a200... only a few things like live view on the back screen and other little things.. all in all the same quallity camera
Great shots. The 1st one especially. Can you tell me if you processed it or took an hdr? The colours look too good to be true! Such a deep blue in the sky.
for some of these photos i used google picasa because it was free.. i have now brought photoshop and lightroom and wish i had them when i edited these.. still picasa is good and simple.
awesome.... my question am afraid to explore my alph330 and i cant hardly learn how to take those kind of phot of yours..... did u all edit them in a photo shop or just merely the result of using all the modes and function in ur cam..... tips for beginners with no much ,much experience in shooting objects
hi, i'm wanting to get into photography and hope to buy the sony a200. i was just wondering, you know the picture of the motorway with the blured lights - is this achieved by slowing the shutter speed right down and is there any other settings you have to fiddle on with to get that kind of shot?
Hi yes this is achieved with the shutter priority mode, and no i didnt mess with any other settings just trial and error with how long to leave the shutter open, you can also select M on the mode dial and roll the wheel all the way to the left and this will select BULB which means aslong as you have your finger on the button the shutter stays open..
Hi andy.awesome pictures. I have a350 but its like -350 in my hands. can you please tell me how to select shutter priority? can you suggest how to learn these techs. any good website for sony alpha cams.thank you
Hi shutter priority is done by selecting the s on the mode dial. no roll your finger over the little weel next to button you use to take a picture, the number that you can see changing is the shutter speed in seconds, just play around with it.
I learnt mostly of here and just mucking about with the setting
I use the sony 18-70 and the tamron 70-300 lens, they are the cheeper end of the market but as i am new to this i could not justify spending any more. It wont be long before your taking great pictures im sure.
Mr Goodby!! Great photos! Really great photos. I have literally just got back from the shop. I bought an A300. Now I have to wait for the battery pack to charge! aaarrgghhhh One question for you... at 4:14 how did you get only the glass contents to show as red? Is this done on Google picasso? Is it easy to do? Please help...I have been wanting to try colour selection for ages....Kepp up the good work. I look forward to your next set of pictures
Thanks for the great comment. haha,, i remember having to wait for the battery to charge... well done on getting this camera, it is very good. as for your question, yes i did this in google picasa and it is very easy to do. if i do any editing it is usually done with picasa as it is easy to use and dose the job, i do have photoshop but its hard work.... Let me know how you get on. ;-)
i just bought the a300 recently, i was curious as to how you acheived the effect at 4:32 ?? i know it's time lapse, did you just leave the shutter open for long like 30 seconds on shutter priority or what haha, and i'm guessing you used a tripod?
ye i put it in shutter priority and set to 30secs and away you go. The nice effect with the clouds was created because it was a realy windy night so the clouds were moving realy fast and over 30 seconds created this effect. As for a tripod i dont own one yet so i just put the camera on the handrail of the bridge and put my wieght on it and tryed not to move, breath or blink for 30seconds LOL. good luck ;-)
i set the camera up in a dark room and put the camera to shutter priority. then add a shutter speed of about 10 seconds (which if your new to this means the shutter stays open for 10 seconds.) then put a timer on the camera of 10 seconds to give you enough time to get infront of it. Then when the shutter opens all i did was draw a large face in the air with a led torch keeping myself realy still and then shon the torch on my face before the shutter shut, it did take a few attempts to get this
great pics... im really thinking of etting an a300 or an a330? does it have much difference im a amateur when it comes to photography and would love to upgrade to a dslr camera... does the two have much difference on them? i mean between the a300 and the a330. thanks
In my opinion the only big difference i can see is the price and im not sure why. If i was you i would save that extra money and get the a300, as there are some great deals on this now the a330 has come out. also dont be tempted by the 14.2 MP of the a350 as the sony kit lenses and the prosesor carnt handle it and the pictures are not as good as the a300 10.2.
Hope this helps and hope to see your pictures on here soon. ;-)
you mean the lenses that come with the a300, a330 and a350 are all the same? and what do u mean the processors cant handle the 14.2 MP of the a350? does the three cameras also come with the same processor chip inside? i havent gone out to look for deals as the a330 hasnt come out yet here and i dont have any idea how much an a300 costs ive heard its around $500...
No i didn't use any touchup in photo shop with any of these photos, i just used google picasa to ad some shadow and other effects to some of them, its a much easyer program to use and i dont like to mess with the photo's too much.
For most it was my 18-70mm sony lens that came with the camera, for the macro shots and some others i used my 70-300mm Tamron lens. Thes by far are not the best lenses on the market but all i could strech to at the moment and i feel they give ok results. i just try not to use the 70-300 at full zoom as it does loose some sharpness.
Thanks... The photo at 2:35 is a mabel on top of a plant in my window that was about to bloom. not sure why i did that LOL... but i thought it looked intresting..
i just purchased my A300 and been using it for a day or so, so far i'm very happy with it. but seeing your photos it made me happier. i can see now what can it do with little time. thanks for sharing!
Sorry for the late responce. Ye in my opinion this is the best camera for a newbie as i have found it easy to use and it has all the fetures you would ever need and more.
As for the water pics i simply filled my kitchen sink with water turned the tap so that it driped at a constent predictable rate so i could click at the same time as the water droped, i set my 70-300 lens to macro and turned the flash on, the flash seemed to bounce off the metal base of the sink and create that effect. ;-)

Hey mate your pics are great! I've got a few questions maybe you could help with? :)
1. Is this camera any good? I was thinking of getting it so does it have good features and take good pics for a dslr?
2. How did you get those amazing water pictures?? They were awesome especially with the lighting :)
JamesGreen321 2 years ago
By the way it would be the first dslr I buy lol im a newbie too.
JamesGreen321 2 years ago
Hi
Sorry for the late responce. Ye in my opinion this is the best camera for a newbie as i have found it easy to use and it has all the fetures you would ever need and more.
As for the water pics i simply filled my kitchen sink with water turned the tap so that it driped at a constent predictable rate so i could click at the same time as the water droped, i set my 70-300 lens to macro and turned the flash on, the flash seemed to bounce off the metal base of the sink and create that effect. ;-)
