  • best music. 8 bit will always have a special place in my heart

  • funny how these games are still in my head.

  • "This is me beating the final boss with Chin at full health alone."

Yeah, he's at full health because your cheating with game genie. It's quite obvious you'd be dead without it.

  • This ending makes so much more sense. I know Ranzou is a versatile guy, but a ninja chieftain AND an emperor? Come on..:D

  • fake easy and gay

  • the game wasnt that hard. It was just very annoying how some enemies that throw spears or how some bosses could knock off a fourth of your health occasionally. It was a bitch when that happened. Still, you got to play as a fucking ninja. Ranzou was definitely my favorite. Ranzou walking was slightly slower than Chin running.

Favorite combo with chin: Punch, Punch, Kick, Standing double jump-kick. Knocked enemies across the screen. Weak, but funny as hell :D

  • ppl say dd3 sucked i think it's a great game only hard part last boss it's as good as 1 and 2 just harder

  • didn't know there's a playable chinese character in the game LOL

  • erm I take it the best ending is Billy and Jimmy ?

  • dd3 is the best among dd1 and dd2

  • lol.. and what an exciting epic battle.. it was. i use to play this when i was about 5 years old. now am 23. still remember playing with my friends on saturday morning. sure brings back alot of memories.. now i wonder how we were able to complete the game without saving it lol.. i really like the ending track..

  • i always thought it was halarious when marion would use the force and slam my character on the ground

  • RANZOU!!! my favorite

  • now, this is a real fight... very smart doing the trick 2 in 1

  • i'd have to say that d.d2 was way better than this game. pretty much a better ending i guess

  • where can u find the music of Double dragon? nice vid

  • i wish i could find this music without any noise of the battle, is very epic.

  • the final boss really gives you a rough time

i get so depressed from that magneto stuff

  • Not that I hate this game,I bet everybody say:

How can this game be so bad and hard and to have good music? I enjoy Double Dragon III soundtrack music in every stages, opening, and the ending. But I wish they have not to make any differences between America version and Japanese version back in the beginning of the 90's.

  • Didn't know there was an ending difference from J to U. Thankx

  • Hiruko's nowhere to be found, ending actually affected by character death, there's a screen with the 3 stones (wonders if someone will translate)...I already like the japanese version better.

  • And if you wished this game could be easier, fear not. The Japanese version is somewhat easier. All four of your characters start with an extra 10 HP (Billy/Jimmy have 94 instead of 84, Chin has 110 instead of 100, Ranzou has 84 instead of 74). And you fight slightly fewer enemies per scene (I'm not sure of the exact count, but it seems to be 1; but enemies still come in waves of 2). Oh, and the story is in this version is more like the arcade version's story.

  • I have this illegal copy of DD3 where the characters have only half the life of what you listed (the ones that have +10). Also, the ending just shows the three stones.

Still, I played and finished it countless of times!

  • @hayabusakun alot of ppl get whiped by final boss and cry about too hard game it's not that hard very fun

  • My best guess is people think it's too hard because of the "one life" rule, but overall this game is nowhere near as hard as people say it is.

  • @hayabusakun

I found it really difficult at first because of the one life bit, but once I passed the first stage, the game gradually became manageable. It's overall a game I'm proud to say I stuck with until I achieved victory.

  • Here's a rough translation of the ending.

"After battle was the over, our heroes decided to donate Cleopatra's treasure to a worldwide charity"

Billy Lee = With his elder brother Jimmy, he continues to spread the Sousetsuken style around the world.

  • Chin Seimei = Returned to his homeland in China to learn Shaolin Kempo.

Yagyu Ranzou = Returned to Japan to challenge his enemies, the Koga Ninja.

Jimmy Lee = With his younger brother Billy, he continues to spread the Sousetsuken style around the world.

"When the three stones are found, their power will change the world."

  • Now THAT sounds a lot better than the US ending. The only things that still tick me off is the storyline, in general. It's still a bad storyline to begin with, but at least it's a little improved here.

But they should've shown Billy and Jimmy ON THE SAME SCREEN instead of basically saying the same thing twice.

  • As I said, only your surviving characters are in the ending. So, let's say Chin dies, but Billy and Ranzou survive. Chin won't even be mentioned, but Billy and Ranzou will. If you won't use the trick to get Jimmy, you're supposed to beat the game in 2-players AND without dying to see the full ending (since you need Jimmy to see what becomes of him).

  • Interesting. I thought the NES one had a different ending from the arcade, but this video and translation shows that the NES one was just changed for the US, and that the original Famicom ending has very similar text to the arcade ending.

  • The whole script was actually rewritten for the English localization. The Famicom version was closer to the arcade game and had nothing to do with rescuing Marion., which is why she never actually appears in the ending.
