  • Pretty sure that was a chair...

  • Adorable.

  • dude....

    srsly...

you should be watching iron chef!

  • I love that clicking noise they make.

  • That's just their claws tapping against the chair and table legs.

  • Did you know, anteaters are related to our human ancestors.

Because one of our human ancestor is a type of four legged "lemur" creature that could walk on all four, climb trees and have opposable thumbs to hold things tightly. This is where apes get their physical characteristic and we all know what apes turn into right? Humans.

  • Anteaters have been around since before primates mostly unchanged but all mammals are supposed to share a common ancestor.

  • mammals supposedly evolved from a reptilian ancestor before the dinosaurs ruled the world n fur n hair come from the scales that have evolved to that ..studies say so that human hair has the same characteristics of scales on reptiles

  • Adorable video, I am sorry to hear about Stewie

he must have been really sweet. I see how much they like each other.

  • It's so obvious how much they love each other....so cute to watch them play. I'm so sorry you lost Stewie...poor Pua.... :-(

  • Ok this was just too damn cute!!! Beautiful little animals.....so sorry to hear about Stewie! :-(

  • I bet you don't have problems with ants in your house anymore!

  • where can i get one of those?

  • I've answered where in the FAQ as much as I will. Link is in the video description.

  • Arent' those creatures dangerous to have around the house? Those claws can do serious damage...

  • Yes but so can a dog's teeth. It's how you handle and raise them but in either species accidents could still happen.

  • they are soo hilarious when they play

  • i cannot find anything on the internet, are they legal to own as pets in ohio?

  • it is illegal for anyone to bring a non-domestic or exotic animal into the state without the proper permits, a health certificate for each animal and a certificate from a veterinarian stating that the animal has been inspected. You should contact the department of natural resources of the state.

  • WHO OWNS AN ANTEATER???/

  • llllllllllooooooooooooooooolllllllllllllllllll

  • i like them :)

  • anteater jiujitsu is awesome

  • are they legal in cali??

  • No they are illegal as pets there.

  • that sucks

that goes for alot of other exotics too...

  • what do you feed them?? ants??

  • They do get some as treats but the diet is a beef mixture with other things to simulate the nutrition of their wild diet.

  • Are you planning on babies?

  • We were hoping but we lost the male to a auto-immune issue.

  • awesome, is it legal to own one of these animal in states?

  • The laws vary by state. You also need to check county and city codes.

  • Thanks for posting this!I've never really seen them at play this way, beautiful!

  • It's the deadly tail noose attack!

  • I was just wondering are their claws sharp?

  • I file them or they can be. Stewie's were very sharp but Pua's seem to stay mostly blunt. I think because doesn't like to claw at things as much. I still need to file so they do not get to long. They could scratch each other as well as me if I didn't keep them filed.

  • may I borrow one just for the summer? My apartment is plagued by ants!

  • they harvest ants, they dont get rid of them completely

  • it ever attack you?

  • no they would only act in self defense

  • Do they actually eat ants all rank like?

  • Yes they will eat ants.

  • Awesome two great things, anteaters and iron chef!

  • i love all these videos.. your awesome for caring for them i read your faq's about them too i like you have always wanted one. one day i will have one!!!

  • Those are tamanduas.

  • Aw so cute! Are they good pets? Do they smell? Are they difficult to feed?

  • Yes to all of the above :) Please see the FAQ. I added the link to the video description.

  • too cute for words. Looks like they love each other dearly, such sweeties.

  • which one is stewie and which one is pua??

  • Pua is the lighter colored one.

  • ok thanks

  • Haha the dog's just sitting there watching.

  • They look like little anteater **people**! D:

  • If a person had alot of acres and a nice sized tree they would do better outside. They may not be well suited for indoor pets.

  • They would DIE outside. They get hypothermic under 65 and overheat over 85. There is nowhere in the US that stays like that. They are also extremely social and would be unhappy and lonely outside. Pua sometimes cries for me when I'm not near. She will also wake me up when she wants food, or to play or to find Stewie for her and can't do that outside either.

  • Thank you for that enlightment about anteaters. I have never had one as a pet and i just thought they were like cats since they played like them. But they are gentle creatures i see. I never knew they could die at temperatures under or above the ones you stated. Thanks for the info again.

  • Pua would love to come and go freely like a cat. But that's not safe. One night she did manage to get a door open but came back an hour later. When I'm able to move will build an outdoor play area with a pet door I can latch if it's to cold.

  • omg! anteaters are like, my favourite animals! what kind are these?

  • Tamandua tetradactyla, lesser anteaters

  • thank you!

  • do they play all day and can u house train them.

  • It depends on the anteater. Pua is strictly nocturnal but will wake up for a walk or something good. Stewie wakes up during the day but mostly just walks around then plays with Pua at night. They do use pee pads but an occasional accident will happen, seems more like marking, and their pee is skunky.

  • Anteaters + Alton Brown = win

  • It's not easy. They're aren't many available. It took me over a year to get Pua. Stewie came from a family that needed a place for him to go after they had some family issues. They also aren't easy to care for. I did 3yrs of research before hand too to be sure I could take care of them properly. There are also state, county, and city laws to consider.

  • how the hell did u find anteaters??? i havent heard of anyone that has anteaters as pets lol rlly cute tho!

  • battle in the kitchen, not only for the anteaters but for the iron chef

  • there soooo cute :D i want one now lol

  • there sooooo cute :D i want one now lol

  • You HAVE anteaters??? now that aint normal lol.

  • Can't get enough of watching these two.

  • how do you acquire an anteater? they seem like amazing animals

  • It took me a year of trying to get Pua and Stewie came from someone who couldn't keep him any more. There's a lot to learn before learning where to get one though. Some seemingly little mistakes could be very bad, even deadly for them. You also need to know if it's legal where you are. Each state, county and city can have laws against it or just making it hard.

  • Is that Hyzzie in the lower corner of the shot, early on? He's getting more confident around the tamandua tail...

  • Yes. That's her. She was sitting in my lap.

  • Oops sorry...she's getting more confident around the tamandua tail it seems

  • So when did you get Stewie? are you planning on breeding them?

  • He arrived May 1st and yes.
