  • In english..............YOU TWAT

  • It doesn't f***ing work! My music sounded like if it was in water!!!

    Mariana Erwin

  • I can still hear the vocals in the background, they are definitely quiter tho ?

  • rats, i'm doing something wrong and cant "export" ... any advice would be appreciated.. I know its me, cause the stuff is all greyed, where just before it was all available...

  • that's AWESOME!! thank you!! first one out of the box, works great.. vocal was double tracked, at least, but its in the bottom enough to work out the backing vocals which was my goal anyway... thank you!!

  • Cool tutorialll it works good:D thnx

  • 2 tracks does not make stereo. You ALSO have to pan them left and right. Thanks

  • hey man can you remove the tract from the song The greatest gift of all by KEnny ROgers. pls

  • @Vicioussama hope this will help you chacadwa.com/foh/mono-to-stereo-in-audacity

  • thank very much :)

i think it works very well on Mono audio file. in my case I want to remove the voice from my record sound that I record myself on my mobile phone. i use your method, but it doesn't work.

Do you have any idea for me?

  • ur the best had this fucking program and didnt know i could do this

  • hey man i love you ths vdo is outstanding 4 private singerzz........thnkuuu so much....:)))

  • what if it's not stereo?

  • @Vicioussama you should change it to stereo

  • @karisalf how

  • when i cliick the effect button, everything below it or inside that button is invisible, why is this happening?

  • @abc0sprach if your audio is going, press stop. Then select the audio you want to change (click and drag). then click effects.

  • ok I give up now I tried about 20 different programs now lol

  • doesnt work.. at all. I guess for certain songs where the difference is very obvious the volume could be lowered but as it is, its not a useful or effective method

  • it go's to fast.

  • I didn't know this was so easy.. I could start a business :D

  • When i import the song into audacity from itunes it only imports less than 1 second of the actual song?? Suggestions??

  • @stacykornis Open the file rather than import. :)

  • Not only does this video lack an example of what it should sound like but unless you have the separate vocal track, you cannot completely remove vocals from a track with vocals already mixed in. You can only filter some of it out. When you fry an egg, can you revert it to it's original form? No. Maybe in the near future there'll be very smart programs/algorithms which can truly make an accurate distinction between a human voice and other sounds like we can but it's just not the case right now.

  • @monimelody agreed

  • It's still not working!!! Please find another way to help us!

  • You sound like Edd from Eddsworld.

  • Thanks. It works. The voice track is still there but so low that when you sing over it no one can tell. The final result is always mono? It also sounds with some distortion. Is it possible to correct it?

  • It worked for the first half and in the second half of the song the vocals were there again :(

  • doesnt work. no sound

  • it dosent work

  • it helped me alot.

  • Haha, I can still hear the vocals, it sounds like she's singing in the shower!!! xD

  • Comment removed

  • @canewtf dude nobody can actually remove all the vocal becuz we are spiltting it amaturely. Only producers who made the music can do it becuz they were the ones who combine instrumental nad vocal and they have probably saved it.

  • not working :(

  • wheni do this it just mutes the whole song can anyone help!!

  • not working at all.... more software to download grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • thanks~!

  • you slow to type

  • lol that video .....fucker

  • instead of splitting can i then combine???

  • It works great, the vocals are greatly reduced! Anybody have any tips for reducing them further?????????

  • it removes the vocals, but the audio gets all messed up!!

  • Thanks, it helped me! =)

  • hey steve please ineed your help about setting leangue when i download soware wasnt in english ineed to be in english any help? .

  • I don't hear shit. the song won't even play

  • @OtakuDances51 woww same here. it wont even play the damn song

  • why is it necessary to split the track ??

  • Is there any cdc-rom software out there that almost totally removes the vocal and not just a little?

  • works but bad audio

  • that don't working by me.

  • ***Fuck up songs by Removing the Vocals in Audacity

  • Thank Youuu

  • my song only has 1 audio track

  • i <3 yhur accent!

  • I know how to do this but when I import a song from Itunes it like speeds it up so I can't tell what I'm doing. How do I fix this?

  • thanks!

  • when i import the song its already mono. i tried making it stereo then splitting the stereo track. then i tried inverting the second one and putting each to mono but that only ends up taking away ALL sound... i have no idea what im doing wrong

  • Got rid of the bassline...

  • NONE OF THESE VIDEOS FUCKING WORK. I've literally tried nearly all of my 2000 songs, and all of them give the same results; removing the beat and muffling the vocals. Not removing them, muffling them (it sounds like their hand is over their mouth).

  • @TheCataIyst YA I KNOW I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM SO I GOT A SOLUTION... FIRST SAVE THE EDITED MP3 FILE(THE ONE U THINK THEY R SINGING LIKE A HAND ON THEIR MOUTH) AND THEN EDIT IT AGAIN AND ANGAIN IN THE SAME MANNER UNTIL VOCALS R COMPLETELY REMOVED.....WORKED FOR ME! THE LOUDER THE VOCALS...THE MORE THE NO. OF HANDS(LITERALLY, THE MORE TIMES OF EDITING). HOPE THAT HELPS!

  • @bornforeducation Agreed!

  • @TheCataIyst One of the ones i tried worked expect the music after was shit quality.

  • this is random and has nothing to do with the video but i love your voice. You could probably call me the worst things and i'd still be fine with it haha

  • a big "?"

  • Don't work, but i love ur voice ;)

  • I still hear audio. Every video says the same thing and it doesnt work for me!! :(

  • But it did not working. But i removed vocals by using vocal remover tool

  • this actualy got rid of the music and left the vocals....i've tried this on a number of songs it never works

  • I don't have an "Export as mp3" selection.

  • @greenorange75 it only does wav just export as wav and use another program to make it mp3 :)

  • @MindRushTv Under the file menu it should have "Export As MP3", when it does it will ask you to find the lame_enc.dll, you need to download this and save it somewhere that you won't delete it. Then you can export as MP3

  • thanks. uhmm.. but for other songs like.. Jessie J - Price tag and E.T.-Katy perry.. well.. i tried pink - perfect it works... but! i hear a little bit voice of pink 0.o

  • @erikkakkire115 it doesn't really make ALL of the vocals disappear. If you listen closely enough, you can hear it on every song phahaha

  • THIS DOESN"T WORK!

  • Thank you..! I needed that for my graduation song. Thanks a lot!!! :D

  • shit mouse

  • FAIL <3

  • no way dude

  • It Worked For Me, But I Cant Save It As A Music File

    !

  • This is shit ! no offence

  • works with me fine, but it will depend on the song, ive got a song that you can still hear the vocals at the start because there is not enough instruments, once they start, it is dulled out.

  • This doesn't work, it just adds an annoying reverb effect to your song and makes it quieter. The same thing for programs like Wavasaur and their Vocal Remove effect. You might as well just turn the volume down and try and sing loud over the vocals part.

  • the audacity logo looks like a hamburger

  • thx you helped me a lot :)

  • It's easier with goldwave

  • fucking nice dude

  • i will try it.. thank you

  • THANK U SOO MUCH! your awesome!

  • THANK U SOO MUCH!

  • how to save??

  • ive tried with dozens of songs and it doesnt remove them at all

  • how do u do the exact opposite? like remove the track to make vocal samples? id love a video tutorial if u can do it on audacity fl9 or cubase le5.

  • wow thanks a lot bro :)

  • @BwoodByMe wat song did you use?

  • As noted by ScreencastCentral it will not work in all recordings. Depends on how the song was recorded. I tried a few older music recorded in the 50's and didn't work. In some, the audio just totally disappeared. Others still sounded like it was - vocal and music. Tried a newer music just a few years old and it worked great. The vocal was still audible but very, very faint. I noticed though that the bass disappeared. Only way is to remove it from the original multi-track recording.

  • @TYunis245 You might have to update then

  • why did 600+ like this video if it doesnt even help?

  • I tried this with three different tracks, and none of them worked!

  • Or you can click Effects > Karaoke and drag the thing to about -20.000 and it does the same thing in two seconds...

  • :))) LOL , It doesn't work even 10 % :))) All the voice is hearing

  • This is a truly dreadful and highly ineffective way to do this. I just tried, and not only doesnt it remove vocals very well, but also makes the song sound horrible. The search for a proper method continues.

  • @eggbertsmith yep

  • When I do Mono for both, its just silent when I play it. Did not work I am afraid!

  • BRITISH <3 AHHH~

  • I play the song there's a bit vocals on it... what should i do?

  • your a british?

  • didnt work

  • when i play it, it fast forward. what to do?

  • Listen guys- removing vocals ISN'T AN EXACT SCIENCE. It all depends on how it was recorded. If you're trying to remove vocals from a MONO track, then please just leave the room. You can only COMPLETELY remove the vocals if they have been recorded on their OWN in the CENTRE channel. Songs which have been recorded live for example, will have some of the vocals spill over into the guitar drums and bass tracks (so you will still hear a little bit of the vocals) so use high quality, multi track songs

  • @Rafterman123 So if you try to remove vocals from a 64kb/s stereo song that you downloaded from Bearshare, Kazaa, Limewire, it is like trying to remove a particular drop of water from the ocean - from outer space, with tweezers.... USE A MULTI TRACK SONG, WITH THE VOCALS IN THE CENTRE CHANNEL and then this will work. Otherwise.... Not even Albert Einstein can help you....

  • lol instead I removed the music instead of the vocals.

  • It work really well for me! Thanks!

  • it never removes 100% the vocals.

  • of course it won't remove the vocal 100% ==a

well, if the vocals of the song is pretty loud, than it's kinda impossible to do this.. :S

  • OMG THANK YOU SOOO MUCH THAT WORKED SO WELL!

i admit i can hear the lyrics VERY slightly if i strain my ears, but awesome man!

  • it barely works..

  • i still hear a very noticable echo. why is this and how can I fix it?

  • its work... but not 100% huhu

  • 120 people couldn't get justin beiber's lyrics off his tracks

  • Worked fine with my music, so thanks! As userfriendly22 stated, it only works if the vocals aren't in separate left/right channels.

  • It's not going to work if the artist recorded vocals in both channels. It only works if the vocals were recorded in the middle.

  • i can't get it to remove any of the sound

  • How u want to make it sound good if one is inverted ?

  • its bolocking never ever works shittt

  • it didnt work for me , the vocals are still there like i done nothing. please help

  • it dosent work for some audio..

  • Omfg, i cant find Invert :(

  • Thank You Thank You Thank Yoou!!!

  • HMMMM nope nothing changed

  • it sounds like crap and i can still hear vocals!!

  • This is not very good at all, the dynamics of all other parts get completly screwed up too =[

  • IT WORKS!

  • it dosnt work

  • @zendy0 it only works with some songs

  • its all mufled!

  • It doesn't work......whats wrong with you Hicks are you retarded?

  • @fr44ed loooooool , hhahahahahahahahah .

  • this works.. thank u.. bal kela set koribo najaney..nasibo najaney sutal khon beka!! hah

  • bal neki bey.. set kela it works.. thank you

  • I actually inverted both tracks and it removed more of the lead vocals but it created more distortion, which I tweaked with the gain levels and got it to be more palatable. I think Adobe Audition 3.0 is probably a better way to go to remove all lead vocals.

  • If you invert the first track it occasionally works much better

  • sh it......didn't workkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!

  • My audacity does not have Menu option "Project" instead it has an option "Transport". I tried to remove vocal part from the song and successfully did it, except one thing: I wanted to save the karaoke song in WAV format, but my computer did not have such option. Should I download a particular program? Please help.

  • @prostojazz After you stop recording click on FILE in top left corner ....menu drops down..select EXPORT ...export file window opens.

In the export file window see the lower window> ..it says "save as type" click the little chevron on the right end of the window and a menu of file tyupe will open....select WAV (Microsoft) 16bit PCM.

Right above is the window where you give your file a name so it can be found.

  • @fr44ed

In the window at the very top of the Export File window is the little window where you tell the computer where to save it to.

  • This reduces the vocals, but in most cases doesn't actually remove them. There's no amount of processing that you could do to remove the vocals without killing some of the music at the same time.

On most songs that I've tried, this method just makes it sound as if the vocals were recorded in an echoey, tiled bathroom.

  • YES IT WORKS!!! but not at 100%!!!

  • @Tsubasa0926 If it ain't 100% it don't work!! Dummy!

  • This works!

  • this really doesnt work. how come everyones solution to removing lyrics is the same but still it never works. massive con

  • doesnt work

  • tysm :D

  • hey do you know how to make audio levels in sound the same sound level? i have a track where it goes quiet sometimes and i'm trying to level it

  • Nice, it worked.

  • Those of you criticizing should understand this only works with stereo songs that have centered vocals and non-centered instrumentals. A lot of songs are not recorded this way and you're simply out of luck. Some have centered vocals and non-centered echo/reverb and others still have some centered instrumentals. Results may vary - there's no magic bullet for stripping vocals.

  • damn you

  • Notice you don't to hear the finished project because it is impossible to fully remove the vocals and usually the sound quality of the recording you have is crap. There will be softarwe available soon which will totally remove the vocals or shadow vocals over. About maybe another 5 years time. otherwise don't bother

  • @yawroc

Your human kind will never see that kind of software in your lifetime.

Your only hope is if the songs of the future are encoded as multi-track recordings.

We have this technology now, but not everyone wants their music dissected.

  • @AppleRepairNewOrlean

Then You shiw me software that can do this and i will show you a pink elephant! And i mean everything removed and not even a tiny echo! The software i have seen which is not cheap can almost get it perfect but there is still a very slight echo. I know all about studio mixing and the way tracks these days are mixed it is not easy to get out the parts you want to.Audacity does not do it quote! Prt2 >>>

  • @yawroc Prt 2. If Audacity does it then you are going to have to show me physically. But notice that most of the videos on here from dummies who show you how to do it but do not show the finished article running are lying to you! I have used this software and the finished result was bloody awful if you want to use that at home fair enough but for Karaoke in public you are having a laugh!. Don't waste your time people!!

  • @yawroc

    Re-read my comment, peasant.

This feat simply cannot be done. Not now and not in the future.

  • @porkypiggypig

Firstly apology for not reading your post fully. Secondly i am no peasant so talk with respect. Thirdly no you are wrong. There is a piece of equipment which will do this and i have the evidnce of this in my collection. However the unit i am sure was software but cannnot recall the company. But the software was very expensive. You would not expect to get good results on something which is free. I have tried it and it is rubbish.

  • @yawroc

Audacity is what i am saying was rubbish. The track i have which this unit i cannot recall was used with had a perfect stereo image and it was the best i have ever seen or heard and manged to take out nearly all of the vocals. When this was put through a PA the vocals were very quite hardly audible. You could still make them out but if you were singing over it nobody would have picked this up. Best i have ever seen.

  • thanks

  • Actually... it does work. You can hear the lead vocal slightly, but your voice should drown it out to where it just sounds like reverb on it. I am amazed at this. Just what is "invert" doing?

  • yea it doesnt work. i just use my computer options xD

    Control Panel>Hardware & Sound>Sound> Choose Your Speakers(RealtekHDA-Default- for me)>Enhancements> check Voice Cancelation.

just gotta toggle it on and off is the problem :c

no bother for me tho~ :D

  • Cool it works! Bt you can hear it just a liiiiiiitle tiny bit.

  • noo it dont workkkkk

  • Notice he didn't play the result? Because it doesn't work.

The only trick that moderately works is the one where you take a song and the a'cappella version of the song (if you have one) and invert the channel of one and overlay it on top of the other. Then there will be a fair amount of cancellation (in this case, the vocals), so you'll be left with an instrumental-only version that contains SOME vocals.

  • But bear in mind: this deals with FREQUENCIES. Any instruments in the same frequency as those vocals will also be affected. You can't just pull frequencies from, say, a vocal without it affecting a guitar or synth-line sitting in the same frequency.

And the song originally has to be made with the instruments over a wide sonic spectrum and the vocals primarily in the center; otherwise, they'll be too much bleed.

There is no elegant solution to creating karaoke tracks. Except buying them.

  • Comment removed

  • @freakyafronaut Wrong dumb ass, this doesn't deal with frequencies. you don't see him dealing with frequencies.

  • @freakyafronaut your a dumbass. has nothing to do with frequencies. you're just an attention whore looking to sound smart.

  • @freakyafronaut

Agreed. That is the problem with attempting to cancel out a voice that if you have something in the same range of frequency you will lose a margin of quality. That margin to me was bloody terrible. You could not use these tracks professionally as you would get laughed at. The quality with Adacity is rubbish. I do admit maybe with some pieces it will be better but it won't be fantastic.

  • I did from first time with She drives me wild \ MJ

  • and where is the result? >_>

  • Tried this and it did not work.

  • whenever i hit the effect menu, you cant select anything. the hell ?

  • you suck!

  • dose anyone know of a program what is actually removing vocals???

this one sucks it never remove it %100
