The tune for the weather is called North Wind composed by Ron Cornel. That weather segment is not from The BBC. It is from Earth TV which has cameras dotted around the world. Many tv stations use the Earth TV weather as one minute fillers. Contact me if you want more info.

@gedebage Earth TV is not 'used for weather' ,you are confused. The concept of Earth tv is for us to have a live look at the rest of the world, see what's going on etc. It has statistics at the top to give the viewer more of an insight into what they're looking at.

I was on summer holiday in Casablanca to watch it all the time news, business report, but I didn't see the weather theme tune and I went in northeast Belguim.

In 2002 I watch it all the time for arest in syria Dimashq (Damascus) and 2003 Singapore.

The BBC world programme was verygood the weather theme tune and the Programme news because I there all very good than new programme.

I do like this because if you are travelling abroad to another country in Europe or travelling to Canada there is always a possibility when you get into your Hotel room, you check the TV channels and there you have it. BBC World News is on the TV plus you also get the likes of CNN as well. But in America, BBC World News only goes on for half an hour and most annoyingly there's too many sponserships afterwards.

This was THE best theme music for BBC World. I first heard it in 2003 while staying at the Hotel Armenia in Yerevan, sipping coffee in my room and watching BBC World. I wish they would go back to the 2003 version of the theme music. I especially like the "B part" - so calm, almost meditative. Thanks so much for posting this!

BBC's breakfiller from 2001 also was available on a CD composed on demand for BBC by David Lowe (and sold by BBC finally because of heavy request for the music), which I also have bought. The Theme behind the Live Pictures originated by BT network comes off the CD named "Earth grooves" (last track 'North Gate by Ron Carnel).

The 2003 theme is unknown, but sounds also like being composed by David Lowe.

You know what really pisses me off? I live in the UK, and we have loads of different BBC channels, except one... BBC World. We don't get it here! Everytime I visit my family in Canada I watch that worldwide weather report with the live pictures. It's so cool! Come on BBC, show it in the UK!!

The whole thing is a "mock". I collected all those clips, put dem together and made one whole vid. Earth TV shows on BBC World every 4 hrs weekdays. It use to show back in the day also(if i remembered correctly)
