Chickenfoot was in the works well before Anthony left VH. Eddie made Anthony rich in VH. He wasnt gonna keep feeding him dollars after he left the band. Thats why Anthony and Hagar are all butthurt.
I just came across Chickenfoot. They are great. They have the classic rock vibe. Which I love. As for Michael Anthony not in Van Halen no more, I say to bad for Van Halen and great for Chickenfoot. Also has for them doing old Van Halen, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Satriani or Hagar stuff. I think you would loss that classic rock vibe.

I think you are right..the new Van Halen album is going to BLOW. Eddie better be ready to blow somebody since his guitar idol days are long lost in the past. Nobody really gives a shit how many notes can be played, or that an amp is wired differently than everyone else's. Those days are long gone. All he has left is a partial liver. I have to admit. The band sounds really awesome and contains the two ingredients that MADE VH, Hagar and Anthony. But the song writing wasn't great at all. It was a huge weakness for the band. Looking and sounding COOL isn't enough. Write some timeless 70ish or 80ish songs and record them using analogue equip like the old days. THEN you will be doing something in high demand that all the jerkoff studios arent doing. It is shameful a trend for legends to come together and write shitty music today

Honestly, Michael Anthony is a damn good bassist but it's always turned down so it doesn't drown out EVH's virtuoso guitar riffs. That has to be EVH's doing. Even, the albums have the bass turned down way too far. "running with the devil" has two bars of bass and then it's all EVH. What they'll never get is M.A's awesome back-up vocals. Today, Van halen, is just a sad parodyof himself.

Micheal Anthony has been with the band and recived writing credits on the CDs. Sammy Hagar can like wise preform any song his co wrote. That pretty much covers the entire catalog. being kicked out or quit makes no difference when it comes to royaltys and being able to play songs you helped right
well technically music is not owned by anyone. u cant be sued for performing a song written by another bad. ther's no law that stats that you cant. so they can legally play any song ever written with no rights. how do you think cover bands do it and shit. as long as they dont say they wrote the song and take credit for it then they're good.

@SirRembrant Personally, I don't think Van Halen needs or wants a bass player. Honestly, Michael Anthony is a damn good bassist but it's always turned down so it doesn't drown out EVH's virtuoso guitar riffs. That has to be EVH's doing. Even, the albums have the bass turned down way too far. "running with the devil" has two bars of bass and then it's all EVH. What they'll never get is M.A's awesome back-up vocals. Today, Van halen, is just a sad parodyof himself.

I've always liked Mikey and I thought Sammy wasn't horrible in Halen; but I bought the new Chicken foot CD and I was disappointed. I've always liked Satriani too but I really hoped the CD was goin' to be good and I have only listened to it once. Wish I could get my money back, sounded like the guys were holdin' back.

I know roth's age is up there, but the crowd was flat from dlr standing in one place all the time with that goofy grin. Entertain us dave! And without Michael Anthony its not complete. I like Joe & some Chickenfoot songs but I always thought that if this band wanted a more wider audience they should have got another singer like Chris Cornell to front it. His work with Audioslave was amazing!! Sammy is outdated, no wonder Van Halen had enough of him!! Who would have though that Van Halen started to sound middle of the road? Thats what Sammy did to Van Halen, like it or not! Thank god Dave & Eddie are back together; the humour & cutting edge of the Van Halen magic is back!!

Just look at who the new generation dig the most when they discover the classic era of rock. Diamond Dave is far more popular then Sam could ever be. If they formed this act in the 80s when arena rock was in its prime, then they'd be a top billing act. But nowadays they sound like any local LA act. They may do another album, but they will surely fold due to lack of fan support in months to come. Great band members, just not the right mix for a band as a whole.

Micheal Anthony has been with the band and recived writing credits on the CDs. Sammy Hagar can like wise preform any song his co wrote. That pretty much covers the entire catalog. being kicked out or quit makes no difference when it comes to royaltys and being able to play songs you helped right

Sammy wrote all the lyrics when he was in VH. Michael Anthony had credit on the albums, too. They can play the songs whenever they want. I think that other bands are supposed to get permission or pay a royalty if they do covers in concert....nobody keeps up with club bands, though.
