There is one weird diet, i heard apparently its gaining popularity and the way it works is that someone puts a parasite into your body and all the food that you eat is consumed by the parasite instead. Heard it from my friend a few days ago apparently it can only be in the body for a certain number of days..
I know this is old. But I was 150KG. I started riding my bike more and watching what I eat. Now I am down to 130KG. But my goal before I move to Japan is to be down to 113KG.
I did the HCG diet and lost 25 pounds in a month. Lol, I gained it back though (university student forced to eat the cafeteria's fatty food). I felt full the whole time and I could do it again if I had to, but I like eating whatever I want too darn much. So now I'm just supplementing exercise in but still eating what I want. The weight loss is slow, but it's because I'm mostly gaining muscle mass which will help me more in the long run. :)
my friend tried coal diet once, the idea behind diet is you eat just green vegetables in raw form and eat pill of activated carbon which is supposed to clear out the bad stuff, she lost 6 killos in 2 weeks, then she fainted and we we faorced her to eat
the soap diet is borax and you drink it - i dont remember everything about it but just read an article about 3 months ago on it - its something about acid etc - i can send you the link if you wish to read about it :)
The thing I'm scared of about going to Japan is that I'm 300lbs...but I'm not huge per say, just quite a lot bigger than the average Japanese person :p
@Gimmeaflakeman I'm not that much bigger than a "normal" person though, people are always suprised and always guess about 75lbs less...but in Japan it'd be much different haha
no sodas,no alcohol, 30 mins cardio 3-5 days per week an lots of water u can lose like 10 kg per month! thats how i lost weight i was 124kg now im 93kg.
just try to increase the cardio time! min. by min. every new day if u feel up 4 it GL
That apple diet is a stupid idea, just like most "diets." Avoid grains (carbs), juice, sweets and alcohol. Eat fresh vegetables, animal protein and fruit. It's called Paleo.
you can eat how much you want if you move your body the whole day. To lose about 50 kilos it will take about one year. Fast losing weight is not so healthy.
Especially lipids should be avoided and calculated the normal demand an calories for adult people consequentelly, which is approximately about 2000 to 2500 kcal. Eating big amounts of food like potatoes not fried, to get the response fro m the expanded stomach being feeded up. The feeling of not eaten enough comes always from the stomach.
For a diet I had a guy in my school that went on a water diet. The only thing he drank was water. And ate some protein and vitamine. But this is dangerours! You can get water poisoning but you lose weight fast.
The best way to lose weight is NOT to lift weights. the simple reason is that when you do that you focus on building muscles which will make you lose weight until the muscel buldnig takes over. The best way to lose wieight is to run or swim. But then ofcourse if you want to lose weight and build muscels you should mix them and train 5-6 days a week with more focus on the runing and swimming parts. You need 1-2 days of resting!
well what i did was i'd just only eat when im hungry and drink alot of water instead of snacking, cut out the soda, eat small meals and walk alot everyday also hit the gym if you can, i lost a hell of alot of weight but i just need to get rid of the extra fat left over lol
I lost 60 pounds in a 9 month period. Basically there really isn't a special diet or secret. All i did was exercise and eat generally heathy. special diets like the apple and the banana one are just stupid and don't have long lasting good results.

@HaydenBye1221 Where did you get that information? I guess it might be a good way to keep weight off, but on its own will do close to nothing for very overweight people.
@Muso992 Dietitian and reading of several scientific articles. Now i forgot to mention healthy diet and cardio vascular exercise is also helpful. It's just I find resistance training and the building of muscle is a oft looked over component to losing fat. Another point is to burn fat with cardio vascular you must do greater than 20 mins of exercise as before that you are burning glycogen stores. With diet the cutting of carbs is most important. The carbs you eat should also be complex.
@HaydenBye1221 Ah, it looks like we're mostly in agreement then. See, I thought you were prescribing muscle training as the sole method of loosing weight.
That's true. The key to losing alot of weight is by setting small achieveable goals. If you set your goals too high, you'll have a very long road ahead.. Most give up halfway because of this.
i lost 4kg in 2 weeks in japan this summer. from 70-66, but its not easy, and most likely bad for health. literally ate onigiri/salad in morning/ lunch, then again at dinner. thats it, also lots of walking as you do on holiday ^^ this was due to budget, but i guess its pretty effective for losing weight fast. just dont eat
Losing a whole Tomoko! I'm becoming quite a fan of her so losing a Tomoko would be a tearful experience for me ;_; I wish there was more documentation of this but I DO know a story of this much weight loss occurring. The ex-drummer of the Japanese band Uchu Sentai NOIZ lost about 60 kilos over four months after being told by his doc that he couldn't keep drumming at his former weight. I need to ask him what he did...
Nice video! I recently saw a Google Talk on youtube by a guy named Gary Taubes who spent 5-6 years going through all the medical literature of the past 150 years concerning obesity and he found that the whole calories in vs. calories out idea is useless. The hormone insulin is what tells the body to store energy as fat. If your insulin levels are high more of your calories get stored. So the key is to KEEP INSULIN LOW by lowering processed carb and sugar intake. Search youtube for Gary Taubes!
The diet he is talking about will definitely allow him to lose 50 kilo's if he sticks with it. I watched the documentary about the diet and it pretty much switches all percentages of a normal diet i.e. wheat, diary, meat, etc. and only uses fruit and vegetables in juice form. Apparently the fruit gives you a big boost in energy after the first 4 days of use due to the high amount of sugars in the fruits. The documentary is really a good film also you definitely can't drink on the diet!
Japan could start by changing its milk. I know they have a low fat milk but it taste almost as bad as their regular milk. In the States I drink 1% but all milk in Japan is like drinking whole. Blah, though without bashing the milk industry, one can adjust to the taste rather quickly. Nothing to do with a diet, but Japanese milk adds up quickly calorie count wise, if you consume as much as I do.
A friend of mine gave me that same one piece ruler... if you look closely right in the round middle there are numbers so you can measure the angles of the ruler as it opens up . The ruler makes a little noise as it changes degrees, you can tell when victor pulls it all the way. It' pretty damn cool consolation prize :)
I've tried drinking yerba matte but I dunno if that was affecting my weight! although i was loosing quite a bit... smaller portions of food also work... <.<
Re "I don't know anything about food..." Recently I've been watching lots of Jamie Oliver videos and looking up some basic info and I've started cooking. Just basic ideas can be so helpful. Like grill a steak in a grilling pan (ribbed bottom). First rub the steak with olive oil, salt, pepper and some herb like rosemary or mint. Grill and flip it every minute until it's done to your liking. Then put it on a plate, sprinkle a few drops of oil and lemon. Mix the resulting liquids to make a sauce.
If the guy's big he shouldn't lose weight too fast or his skin won't catch up and he'll have hangy things everywhere. Losing 3-4 kilos a month sounds like a safe weightloss. After a month or two he'll have a rhythm, and then it's only 13 months to reach his goal. So hell, if he takes two years to lose the extra weight I think his body would be so much more healthy and he'll probably look a lot better afterwards.
黒豆ダエトしとるか? My wife made me do the kuro mame diet. But the trick you need to eat the beans 3 times a day, then you can eat every hour of the day, 100grams per hour. Funny enough it did work..I think I couldn't manage to eat the kuro mame too long...and they were expensive... I will say this, having a japanese wife will make all the difference..Since I we married, I have lost 17kilograms. All I can say, is eat rice, fish, miso soup and make sure to have an 鬼嫁(oni yome) to keep beating you up.
Eat less, it's all about portion control. And yeah, of course exercise. Do cardio one way or another. Swimming, jogging, cycling, hitting the bag for an hour etc.
@4:08 Tomoko's expression is - "WTF is hookers and blow?" priceless.
On the diet tip what I did was control my portion and cut down on soda and switch to water during the day. Doing this I was able to wear jeans I hadn't been able to fit into for, like, 5 years. I lost about 2 pant sizes and 3 shirt sizes. It can be done!
Im from the US and there was a diet my friend tried that consisted of drinking lemonade mixed with cayenne pepper. Supposedly you could drink only that for weeks but it just sounded dangerous to me :(
Cardio workouts like jump roping and eating smaller meals as the day progresses is probably the best bet to losing weight healthily.
A method that I know works is eating specialized frozen meals at about 800 calories/day and exercising 2-hours a day. The type differs and you have to switch it up ever 2-3 weeks. If you're too heavy then swimming is the best bet. Gradually introduce normal food again but this method is hard without someone to motivate you and doctors to check you up every week because it's dangerous. Diets never work, you'll just get fat again. For more information consult your doctor :)
The soap diet might have been Shisiedo; years ago they have a "slimming" bath cleanser and later came out with a "slimming" body lotion to go with it. They said that inhaling the scent in the items would promote weight loss.
Ah, I just reread your comment and realized I misread it as "50キロは無理んじゃない?" If I'm gonna reply to someone I guess I should read their comment carefully instead of cursorily scanning my eyes across it. Sorry 'bout that ;-)
@gtoyas About 30-yers ago, it was very popular in Japan that put powder of konnyaku in various meals and increase the volume when in a stomac. That company was grows rapidly by the popularity, and it still priduce a lot of konnyaku products, it has one of a social problem product which is a child suffocates. It was bettrment by administrative advice.
Thank you or the video, not a fan of going on a diet, I am good when I am on the diet but as soon as I get off the diet I star putting the weight back on.
If he changes his calories intake he'll loose weight without a doubt. But it takes time. Ringo bull diets is not what he needs that 's the kind of stuff with soup, or rice, melon diets that is for someone who has a party or a holiday coming and wants to loose a few pounds to have a smaller face and figure at the event not a long term diet. If he drops 2kg a month in 2 years he will have secure a new weight without fearing rebound.
Its an aggressive goal but I don't think its impossible for Sam to reach his target weight unless he expects to do it in an unreasonably short time. But he has to change his 食生活 and get into a workout routine to do it. Depends if he really wants it or not.
Japan is full of ridiculous fad diets. All crap. Follow a sensible eating plan such as the Zone Diet or South Beach Diet (moderate amounts of low glycemic index carbs, protein, and mostly monounsaturated fat) and the fat will melt off. For anyone. ちなみにビクターさん、英語忘れ病にかかっているんだね。わかるよ。俺も日本に住んでいたころにかかっていて酷かったw
I remember seeing a newspaper comic strip about that soap diet! A woman goes into a shop and sees "Slimming Soap", buys it, uses it over a week and finds out that it's not HER that's slimming, just the Soap (which all soaps do after uses). I guess the person who drew it was saying that it's a crock of a diet, really. Which I agree, tbh.
Someone's probably already beaten me to this, but "zannen" 残念 means "too bad," like saying 「残念です。」("That's too bad") to someone who didn't win the contest. And yeah, all the best to Sam.
Honestly most diets work (a big one right now is the all juice diet apparently) but all you really need to do is cut out sugary drinks/sweets, eat a fuck load more vegetables, drink more water, and walk 30+ minutes a day. the vegetables are obviously very good for you, but eating the vegetables and drinking water will fill you up, so you eat smaller portions, simply doing this someone of his weight could lose a couple kg a week i would think
I've always just hit the track hard for a few weeks when i notice im gettin fatter than i deem appropriate. Other than that, just cook your meals at home and try to lay off the sugar water and booze...
Green Juice fasting(Drinking green vegetable juice)Is probably the fastest healthiest way to lose weight, but just eating a diet consisting of a wide variety of fruit and vegetables will work.It is more about what you dont eat though.I dont care if you lose 50pounds exercising, if you are still eating crap, you are not healthy.Slim big muscular people still get sick and diseased.Being slim does not mean being healthy.Fruit and vegetables sounds cliche i know but it works.Ofcourse exercise helps
My Aunt-in-Law lost weight by drinking tea, water, and taking supplements. She did this for a month. She dropped 30 pounds. But her didn't did do wonders for her teeth.
I lost 60 pounds in 3 months using the book "Body For Life." You can still buy the book, but I think all of it is now on the body for life website. This was years ago when I did it and it wasn't that hard. From what I remember, 20 minutes of cardio three days a week and 30 to 40 minutes of weight training three days a week. It's eating up to six small meals a day for six days every 2 to 3 hours. On the seventh day, you can eat whatever you want from morning until you go to sleep.
I need to drop a lot of weight myself, even more than Tkyo Sam has to. So I went to my doctor today to get a referral to a dietitian to get some extra support and help because I'm hopeless when it comes to comfort eating. -_-;;
In Australia I think the protein shakes instead of breakfast and lunch are popular. I've tried it and have some at home. I've tried a lot of different things to lose weight, but recently I've started walking daily.
@Gimmeaflakeman its some sort of drink diet, you can buy it in stores here in sweden, tastes like chocolate... only a bit worse but it works very good!
I'm 88 kg 1 year ago, now 65...I eat more frequest than before, having said that what I did is take my regular meal and split it to 6. So I have 6 meals everyday. Eat lots of veggie and meat, less carb. Exercise for about 2-3 hour a week, 60% on cardio, 40% on weight training, and try to be active everyday. Uh oh...do not skip breakfast, banana is good, combine w/ oatmeal. And last...surpress your sugar intake.
I love how japanese people care about their health so much. Maybe too much sometimes. But we (westerners) should learn from it. Me including. T.T (at least in terms of food and exercise).
I read on the package that wakame and such contains lots of iodine and could cause problems with the Thyroid that's why I thought Japanese people were as they are ... not fat - except from sumo wrestlers
I've heard of most of those diets too :D japanese diets are popular in asia too and since I'm asian, I've also heard of them xD lol, I feel proud that I know >:D
I'm male, around 180cm and weigh just above 50kg.. It sucks just like it sucks for overweight people since most tend to think I look like this on purpose, as if I'm anorexic. Just like many people think that every overweight person eats McD day in, day out... Some just gain weight no matter what they, and some do the opposite. They are both problems. And to be honest I really tire by people who think I'm "blessed" for being like I am. Blessed? I look anorexic.
@iShuirin I was not really looking to be 'understood' I was just pointing out and basically ranting a little about how every god damn show is about fat people losing weight. It's never the other way around and *when* it finally is about thin people. It's about anorexics and not people like me, who simply just do *not* gain weight.
But I appreciate it though -- The understanding, hehe.
This was fascinating to hear about the different "diets." I mean, here (the US) the diets are all planned out so meticulously (Atkins, South Beach, Weight Watchers, SlimFast, etc.), but it's nothing like "eat nothing but apples for 3 days" or "just eat a banana for breakfast every day." I hadn't heard much about the Japanese side of fad diets before, so thank you for such an interesting video!
Diets are temporary and by their very nature unsustainable, the goal is sustainability not the number of pounds you can lose in a short amount of time.
Tomoko is sweet for getting extra prizes (^_^) and shedding off weight is difficult you just have to exercise regularly and stay away from the junk, drink plenty of water and a healthy balanced diet, of fruits, vegetables, grains, and lean meats.
There is one weird diet, i heard apparently its gaining popularity and the way it works is that someone puts a parasite into your body and all the food that you eat is consumed by the parasite instead. Heard it from my friend a few days ago apparently it can only be in the body for a certain number of days..

P00P0STER0US 6 months ago
just exercise + smaller meals every 2-3 hours, as well as making a calorie deficit is one of the only safe ways to "diet"

Swimming, jogging, cycling, hitting the bag for an hour etc.
elsamuraiguapo 6 months ago

MrAwesomeMember 6 months ago

Green Juice fasting(Drinking green vegetable juice)Is probably the fastest healthiest way to lose weight, but just eating a diet consisting of a wide variety of fruit and vegetables will work.It is more about what you dont eat though.I dont care if you lose 50pounds exercising, if you are still eating crap, you are not healthy.Slim big muscular people still get sick and diseased.Being slim does not mean being healthy.Fruit and vegetables sounds cliche i know but it works.Ofcourse exercise helps

In Australia I think the protein shakes instead of breakfast and lunch are popular. I've tried it and have some at home. I've tried a lot of different things to lose weight, but recently I've started walking daily.

/rant, done. Lol.

iShuirin 6 months ago
@iShuirin I was not really looking to be 'understood' I was just pointing out and basically ranting a little about how every god damn show is about fat people losing weight. It's never the other way around and *when* it finally is about thin people. It's about anorexics and not people like me, who simply just do *not* gain weight.
But I appreciate it though -- The understanding, hehe.
pinglauwa 6 months ago
This was fascinating to hear about the different "diets." I mean, here (the US) the diets are all planned out so meticulously (Atkins, South Beach, Weight Watchers, SlimFast, etc.), but it's nothing like "eat nothing but apples for 3 days" or "just eat a banana for breakfast every day." I hadn't heard much about the Japanese side of fad diets before, so thank you for such an interesting video!

It's not a diet but a rule, the "70% rule".
It takes the brain like 20 minutes to send the message that you ate enough.
So you can safely eat 70% of what you are used to and you won't feel hungry.
I was 106.9kg in november, now I am 88.9kg.
Recently I started going to the gym and it stopped me from losing weight a little bit because I am trading fat for muscles.
My goal is to get to 82kg beeing fit and a bit muscular.
One good thing is that you get used to feeling less hungry with the 70% rule.
