considering, very weak towards the end, esp. sopranos. the high c lost almost all tone. everything else was pretty good. horrible accompinament though.
A few funky notes in the piano, but MAN, I wish I had sung that! I think "The Promise of Living" would complete my trio of Most Soul-Lifting (Semi-Modern) Choral Works (the first two being, in order, "O Magnum Mysterium" and "Pilgrim's Hymn").
That's the temple its suppose to go I have heard many perform it at that temple including my college choir so yeah its not suppose to be that slow its suppose to be rejocyful it will drag if it was any slower and we did that for the phrasing and breathing properly
Haha. I learned this for All-State choir in 2003 (Soprano II). I'm so glad we didn't have to sing this for the qualifying bit. Yeesh. Magnificat was great, though.
We just got this peice for band and chorus's american composers concert, I have to give up singing my alto/tenor part for ten measure of plyaing! I absoultely love this peice though...
my choir sang this piece in Prauge with a czeck choir. I personally am a bass and hitting those high notes were not easy. You gus made it sound so easy and smooth. my chior performed it once and we hit those notes clean but let's just say that after that piece we never wanted to sing it again. Our guys renamed coplands piece the promise of dying we didn't like singing it that much. Good choir, got any other recordings?
We are playing this for marching band but it sounds nothing like this. I mean it has more moving parts in the piano part which would sound absolutely amazing. Ugh geez I'm so angry now.
OH MY GOD. I was in this!!! But I never got the CD. is there any way you can send me the audio files??? I will be forever ever grateful. I cant believe I just found this.
Back in1979 I was a member of The Texas All-State Choir and we performed this piece as well as Stomp Your Foot.

Ah, we're doing this in our high school choir. Possibly the most beautiful thing our teacher has ever chosen.

I'm actually currently in this opera... not as a lead or anything but this song is still absolutely beautiful.
