@redslayer93 If your looking to ride on one tank for a month then get a scooter. But for a sport bike its not bad. With a reasonably easy throttle it can probably do around 200 miles to a tank.
Why on earth would anyone dislike this guy's video????There's gotta be at least one lowlife for every video on youtube, I guess.Like maybe some unwritten youtube rule or something??????
@Ericuno Hi there, nice bike. Have you tried a SV650N to make a little comparision? I have tried de SV650N and R6 I feel better in the R6 but I havent tried any of those for a long time.
@aruekca18det Ive only sat on the naked version and it was more comfortable because i was sitting more upright. On the r6 i feel weird because im looking over the front of the bike rather than over the windshield. Its all what you get used to i guess.
@brian1321 i think you will be fine. i believe they make lowering kits if needed, but your not gonna find a shorter bike than this in the 500cc-650cc range
@KYLEmann35 I would only say get a 250 if you think you will feel overwhelmed or scared of the bike. Otherwise i think they are too small, underpowered, and dangerous on busy roads. a suzuki gs500 and ninja 500 as well as the sv650 are decent if you think you will be a decent learner. 250cc are what they have at the course so that should tell you what rider ability they are mostly used for
@KYLEmann35 The only thing i can really say is to take it very easy on turns for a while. The handlebars dont turn much because the bike is meant to be leaned with so if you go to fast while taking a turn you will find yourself going in the the other lane. the saftey course will go thru all the basics so you will be fine
@ylism The bike is very quiet at idle. Its nice so when i leave early for work i dont anger neighbors. it only gets loud about 5,500 RPMs and because its a v-twin its a very unique sound. Check some of my other vids to get an idea (its a cheap camera though)
@Ericruno Thank's you for the info. I have a Kawasaki En500ltd now, I am looking for a bigger bike, Like the one you have. Sounds like a bike I would like. Thank's again, yl
Would you recomend this bike for someone who has his licence, is taking the safety course and has alot of practice with turning and over taking on a Yamaha R15? (learned the R15 in India, where you kinda have to overtake and handle it and balance it)
its a 2001, 30,000 KMs (About 18645.12 Miles) its has some upgrades (LED/HID lights, after-market exhast).
@MadDogMeh Yes its a perfect bike....but i think that price is way too much. I got mine for $2600 USD with 10,000 miles. I bought it at a dealer too as a used bike
I found this exact year and model but the chain and the chain holder thing (basically the whole chain system) has to be changed and the tires are almost gone. how much would it cost to buy and install these parts?
@SoldierCyfix Last year i went to the dealer to get new tires. They told me its a hard to find tire so it would cost me $350 for two tires and almost $100 to mount them. So i am still riding on old tires. If i were you i would buy tires off a website and then get them mounted somewhere. As far as the chain goes im not sure the cost but if you are the least bit mechanically inclined you can do it youself and save money. Theres most likely a "how to" guide for it on the internet.
Hey dude, never mind all the douchebags,in my book it's still a sportbike. Some people only consider a bike a sportbike if it's 2000cc's and makes 500 h.p.,but who cares? They do have a class where they race sv's.Don't see any dyna wide glides or victory's on the track do you?Case closed.Btw,you speak extremely well and sound intelligent beyond your years.I really enjoyed your video.Ride safe my brother!!!
@500erider Thanks man. i appreciate that. I have no interest in a bike with too much power. Id rather get good gas milage and have a light machine to throw around. plus the insurance is ridiculous on those bikes
Hey I am debating between this and the ninja 650r but my problem is the riding position... I sat on both and realized the sv650's "forward lean" position gave it more characteristic to it. I haven`t rode any of them yet. But I felt comfy on the sv650 just by sitting in it but will that change when i ride? Also is there an advantage to either riding position besides personal comfort? Thanks in advance!
@plehdehgame Its all personal preference. but generally the kawi 650 would have a better position for longer rides, however the SV will feel a little better at speed and in corners because of the leaning position. Ive heard the SV has a little more "snap" in the throttle, but these bikes are kinda similar so it probably just comes down to which rider position you like.
1 person doesn't like mac and cheese. awesome bike man, i'm lookin at getting one, never owned a bike before, and am considering either a gsxr600, SV650, or a GS500. thanks for the review.
Dont take the GS500. A Friend if mine got it. The sittingposition is AWFUL! BTW the Fork is very cheesy - if you break hardly your frontwheel could stop and you'll drop.... Ive bought a 2001 SV650 yesterday and Im so satisfied, there is a fair amount of tuning aviable(e.g. fairing) and its not to strong and not to weak.
yeah i spent some time thinking a lot about bikes.. with no experience on one what so ever i got ahold of a co worker who has a 1982 honda GL500 silverwing for sale for 1000, has 12k miles, almost immaculate condition, has a cracked exaust pipe and a few scratches on it from being knocked over, but hey, it's a starter bike. gonna pick it up from him here in a few days, got to ride it today and it handles pretty damn nice.
How do you feel about the weight and stability of it? I had a BMW K100 for a while, but it was so tall and heavy that I never felt comfortable on it. I'm after something with a lower seat height (around 28 inches) and something that's light. I had knee surgery about a year ago, and one of my knees is pretty weak - I don't want to end up dropping it when trying to maneuver at low speeds.
@drewdude320i I thought i already replied to this but guess not. Its extremely light even with a full tank. about 400 pounds wet. Low center of gravity too. its a low seat but its not 28 inches. maybe 30-31, but its a soft seat so it will compress. If you have a week knee you may find it annoying how close the pegs are to the seat. in other words you need to lift your feet quite a ways to get in position.
@drewdude320i a ducati monster 696 would be a good choice also, i dont own one but ive rid on it a couple of time, it feels pretty comfortable for medium height/weight guys like me
I'm going against my own personal ethic and have been leaning towards getting a sport bike over a cruiser for my own bike, but my problem is me being short (5 foot 4) and it seems every sport bike I've tried has been to tall for me. Could I get both my feet on the ground with this one? The seat seems low enough.
@RowanEmbers. Im not sure if you can flatfoot but its about 2 inches shorter than any other sportbike ive sat on. And it has a softer seat which should help. I myself wanted a suzuki m50 cruiser but ended up wit this and i love it
@RowanEmbers Yes, you would. I am 5ft 6, and I had a bronze 2004 SV650 that wasn't lowered at all, and I could get both feet down. Now got a '06 ZX-6R 636 >:D :) :D :)
im 18 and just and just passed the msf! saving up for a bike for college and i was just wonderin, is there any problems starting with this bike compared to the 250s we had at msf?? thanx alot!
btw. i have a kawasaki ninja 250r. it is the fastest bike i am allowed to ride in denmark. i am very happy with it, but i can also feel that it is a small bike.
but anyway, it is way better then what the other with a small licens are riding. the kawasaki 250r is kinda expensive in denmark. so i am happy that i got the money to be riding something that at least feels a bit like a real racer motorcykle.
@EchoNatek just so u know it, u can ride a bike bigger than the 250 ninja in denmark -even with the small license that u got.
yeah i know that you can put in a limite that makes the motor perform less then 34 horsepower.
i am just saying that it is illigal for the small license to ride anything higher then 34 horsepower.
i did think about getting a bigger bike and then just limite it, but the insurance is still higher then ninja 250r, and i can sell it for almost what i payed 2 years later. (i did not buy it brand new.)
but anyway, 16 years old kids on big bikes in USA, thats sick.
@EchoNatek Hey EchoNatek, u say that the insurance is higher for a bigger bike? well, that can be true, but i have not yet seen that, (when i asked my insurance company, it was the same price for all machines with engines cc between 175-999. ) i was also looking at the 250ninja at that time :D -but im almost 2metres high, so its a little too small for me :) plus i like the fact that i can pull the "plug" after i get the age of 21 (soon)
@rsskalle i can see your point, and a agree. i just dont want to buy a bike that i can not try out before buying it, and also i am very sure that it will still be more expensive in insurance. also please thing about that i can sell my bike for almost same price as i did buy it for. so when i want a bigger bike i can actually try different kind of bikes.
what to you pay in insurance?
btw. i am sorry to inform you that you are NOT an elite driver. takes 5 years. you have MAX 2½ years so far.
@EchoNatek hey again :) (dont take it like i'm flaming on you, -its not :D )
about being elite driver- your right about the time it takes. Before i got my machine, i was just a minute from buying the ninja250, because i could have a sporty bike for a small amount. Then i saw that i could buy a suzuki (bought a used) and then be elite driver (well, i pay what an elite driver pays) -suzuki and bmw have a speciel deal with an insurance company :) thats how i can be possible :)
i am from denmark, and it takes 3 weeks AND 2 exams, 1 practical and 1 theory exams.
also you have 2 be 21 years old in order to ride ANYTHING over 250cc.
(exept if you did take the licens at the age of 18 and wait 2 years it will be upgraded to a big MC License automaticly)
i am 20 and did take my licens 3 month ago (i was also 20 at that time) so i have 2 either wait 2 years or take a single exam at age of 21 in order to get the big licens
@EchoNatek yeah from what ive gathered its a lot easier to get qualifications for operating ANY vehicle in the US than in any other country. which leads to people way over shooting their boundaries... however, our punishments are a bit severe. more often than not weve got people having their licenses revoked for a year or more, sometimes permanently depending on the severity of the case. and if you REALLY push to far, you end up dead.
@EchoNatek ...and still it does not come close to the stupidity in Norway. Here you will be doing courses and classes for months. It will set you back around 2500EUR and most people fail there last exam. Taking a new exam can take months, and will set you back even more. 2-300euro each try. I wish i could take my license in Denmark ;/
I'm 5'10" and I have a 2007 SV-650N. I think that 6'2" would be pushing it on one of these, it's a small bike. It does have a great motor, this is a great little city bike; it's light, cheap, good on gas, fun, cheap to insure and requires little maintenance, I used to have aTriumph Trophy 900 that I rode on many long trips; I don't find my SV to be very comfortable and it would be tough for touring.....it's just not that kind of bike but you could do it if you wanted to.
The SV650S is a sports bike, don't let anyone fool you. The inline 4 are classified as "supersports" or just "superbikes", and are way more at home on a track than on the streets.
@jbehm33 hey, Im 6,3 and 19 stone, no problems, Ive had some big old bikes but this fits really well! handles great! upgraded front forks though, springs and thicker oil :-)
@jbehm33 I'm also that tall and do not have any problems with it, allthough a little bigger would not be a bad thing, it does not bother me. After 2 hrs a stretch is welcome though :P
@ericruno Hey I have a question about obtaining a motorcycle license. In order to get my license I'll need 30 days of practice with another licensed motorcyclist. I don't know if you had to do the same thing but does the other person just sign a sheet once saying they rode with me? Not sure how that works? Thanks
i finally got my bike license. at msf 2 day course, i stalled shit out of a dual first day but got used to that clutch on second day. now all i have to do it find a bike lol
@Ericruno thanks i will get a 250r or 500r something really cheap so if i where to drop it wouldn't care as much. i really wanna learn to lean and i think its better to start off light.
@asmith929 i think lower fairings came out in 2003, because in 2001 they didnt offer a full fairing bike. but they might still fit the mounting fixtures
I have a 2001 SV650S, it is an awesome bike, easy to ride, feels sporty but comfortable, great brakes, it only has around 60hp but it is plenty fast and good for the street because of the torque. A few mods I would recommend would be Yamaha R6 throttle tube for a bit more throttle response, new tires, and a slip on muffler. I have read it is not setup for a heavier rider but I have no experience there because I am 145lbs.
I'm feeling pretty lucky right about now. My best friend is getting a new bike and is selling me his 2007 SV650s with 11k miles for $2400. I'm beyond stoked and cannot wait.
well this does not make much sense, many ppl say that sv650 is the best for taller riders. and you say that the seat is too low. how tall are you because i am 6.3 idk what to get
@gaivoron I dont think i ever said the seat is "too" low. But this seat is about 2 inches shorter than most other sportbikes, but you sit more straight up than you do hunched over Im 5 foot 10 and im more than ok on it. You need to sit on them because different people like different size bikes.
how tightly are your legs bent when youre riding? im 6'1" and you said the seat is pretty low so i was wondering how comfortable it is for you legs, especially on the longer rides
@shomean83 Well the seat is lower than a regular streetbike such as a honda cbr or suzuki gsxr. Im not cramped at all and i can ride about 2 hours before getting sore. You can buy a new seat if you need to raise the seat height a little bit
@Omergarcia69 i got my bike for 2600 and it has half as many miles. Just make sure everythink works and the tires are good. If it looks and runs 100% then i would maybe pay that price or a little lower
I put a pipercross filter in mine about 9 years ago and it improved fuel consumption and removed a flat spot at around 5k revs i think it was (it`s been a while)
And no it isn`t running weak now because of the filter.Like i say it`s been 9 years in use and no problems since, plugs right colour etc.I do all my own servicing.
@LigerZero1985 It would be smart to do that, but anytime i leave it at work i can always see it so i dont have a real reason to. But i always use the handlebar lock
I'm considering getting a street bike, nothing too big but I will be spending most of my time wide open on highways being an asshole racing people, but I'm 5'6 130lbs wat do u recommend
@RoyalFustercluck Height wise this is a good choice because of the low seat. So this bike or maybe a 600cc sport bike is best. If you find that any bike is too tall you can get it lowered and put a new seat on. Be careful and dont be stupid. Im still young and know people getting killed on them. Just one last week
Yea man thats a good bike it looks good and since its not a full on sport bike a girl will be more comfy riding on the back. and i'm sure its better on fuel too
Nice bike. I have a 2002 sv650s. And I have to say. It's sports bike. I have larger carbs, k&n filter. M4 exhaust. Its pretty fin fast! Got about 92hp Topped out at 135mph. Did 0 to 60 probably in 3 maybe 4 seconds. It's not a Gxsr or a Cbr. But I can hang with them on highway or the twistys. That v twin engine is nothin to talk crap about. I get the sport bike look and feel. With better gas milage then other sport bikes. But yes it's considered a sport touring bike. Whatever.... It's sport bi
@mikeycat66 sounds like you got a great set-up. Now i am aware that i didnt choose my words carefully, but what i meant was that this bike is way to comfortable and easy to ride to be in a sport bike category.
@LoDMadness Ive seen people your size on 500cc bikes, but you might be pushing it. The seat is much lower than a GSXR for example so you will be cramped a bit. Its personal preference though
is this a good bike for a begginer rider. im turning 18 soon and i want to get a motorcycle. i have no riding experince and i am going to start working on getting my license but i was woundering is this a good bike to start off on or should i look into a 250cc or 500cc
@con3legend Ok if you have no riding experience at all I myself would get a suzuki gs500 or kawasaki ninja 500. Keep that a year or two then get a bigger bike. Dont get a 250. They are underpowered and unstable in light wind.
No it is an actual sport bike they are raced in their own classes and they have many aftermarket parts to make them a true track bike. I do not ride one but I have ridden them and they are excellent.
Done 30k miles on an sv650s and it never missed a beat. You must sit close to the tank, I sit with my ass touching the pillion seat, I'm 6'2" and I'm quite heavy on my wrists. Why is it not a sport bike though? It's raced by a lot of people and it certainly feels like a sport bike after 100 miles or so. I own a triumph tiger now, much more comfy on the long haul :D.
@monkeyboy441 You may consider it a sport bike but i dont. My reason is that you sit more upright than a real sport bike and the bike doesnt need to rev as much as a sport bike. Dont get me wrong its a fast bike, but its a bit more mellow than a gsxr 600
@Ericruno A cbr600rr is more mellow than a cbr1000rr, they're both sport bikes though. The sv650 revs about as high as a ducati 848 but thats a character of a v-twin. I've seen the gsxr600 and sv650 have almost the same laptimes around cadwell. So the difference between sport bike and non-sport bike is the length of the forks? I used to consider it not a sport bike when I had one but I don't know why now, long time ago.
@monkeyboy441 I guess your right. But in reality it doesnt matter what i think....it only matters what my insurance company thinks. Less sporty = less money
@Ericruno That's true, its the same over here. Just for interest when I rode a gsxr600 it was a lot smoother but just kept going and going it didn't feel like it was going fast but then you look down and see 100mph on the dash. The sv pulls hard but runs out of steam quite soon, love the sound and the way it wheelies everywhere though :D. Anyway, nice bike and nice talking to you.
@lukeandjoshua In the classroom we covered what to do in traffic situations and we covered how to actually ride and use the brakes correctly. So if you have common sense its pretty easy.
@Ericruno when you took the MSF course, had you ever driven any 2 wheeled powered vehicle before? I want to take the course but I've never ridden a dirt bike, power scooter, or anything. I'm pretty good on a bicycle though :)
@SpartanG6 I was great at mountain biking and i was really good on a dirt bike so i knew what i was doing, but there were some people who had never been on a motorcycle before and they did just fine...dont worry about that...but if you dont know the concept behind using a clutch and shifting i would read up or get some help with that
hey nice choice, i got the same colour but mines a 2000 model, i gotta black wind shield for it it certainly looks the part, im 18 also, i feel its a safe option for me . how r u handling it
@fapposkid My insurance is 250 a year with full coverage. The age of the bike will affect the insurace a lot. I think that my insurance guy had is listed as a standard/naked motorcycle.
Don't know how you feel about fat tires, but I was thinkin' about gettin' one of these as my first bike and I want to eventully put a 300mm fat tire, is it possible and how might it affect handling?? Thanks in advance -Snowman-
@snowmanii I think my stock tires are 160/60/17. They are awsome unless you plan on dragging your knee in turns. My personal opinion is to not alter an SV just because everything seems to work pretty well already. Dont know about a 300. sorry
I am about to get my license next spring. I have no motorbike experience, I am 43 years old and have been driviung cars for more then 20 years. I like the SV 650 a lot, it´s a real beauty. But I am a bit scared that this bike might be a little bit too aggressive for a total beginner like me.
What do you think? Can a total beginner safely handle this bike? Top Speed is not an issue for me, I want a safe bike where I can start learning safely.
@GabrielKnight666 Honestly, its perfect for you. Its lightweight and the power is predictable. This means that if you rev it a bit too high it wont take off on you. It has enough power to get you out of a bad situation too. This was my fist bike and im only 18. i just took it easy at first and to this day i havent dropped or stalled it. Plus they are cheap to buy and maintain. Either get this or a kawasaki ninja 500. They are ideal bikes.
@snowmanii Thanks for the input man....you and someone else just help me figure out I really want a gsxr750 for m first bike, but now i'm thinkin' about just putting a 240mm on the back to keep it close to stock but with the drag look I was going for

1 person doesn't like mac and cheese. awesome bike man, i'm lookin at getting one, never owned a bike before, and am considering either a gsxr600, SV650, or a GS500. thanks for the review.
clusterchuck86 6 months ago
@clusterchuck86
HarbingerOfAbaddon 6 months ago
@HarbingerOfAbaddon
yeah i spent some time thinking a lot about bikes.. with no experience on one what so ever i got ahold of a co worker who has a 1982 honda GL500 silverwing for sale for 1000, has 12k miles, almost immaculate condition, has a cracked exaust pipe and a few scratches on it from being knocked over, but hey, it's a starter bike. gonna pick it up from him here in a few days, got to ride it today and it handles pretty damn nice.
clusterchuck86 6 months ago
damn if you live in canada and born 1994 or later, it takes you a full year to get your full licence. DON'T COMPLAIN LOL.
p.s I live in Canada and i am born in 1994 :( if i was born a year earlier i would of saved half a year of waiting...
plehdehgame 6 months ago
How do you feel about the weight and stability of it? I had a BMW K100 for a while, but it was so tall and heavy that I never felt comfortable on it. I'm after something with a lower seat height (around 28 inches) and something that's light. I had knee surgery about a year ago, and one of my knees is pretty weak - I don't want to end up dropping it when trying to maneuver at low speeds.
drewdude320i 6 months ago
@drewdude320i I thought i already replied to this but guess not. Its extremely light even with a full tank. about 400 pounds wet. Low center of gravity too. its a low seat but its not 28 inches. maybe 30-31, but its a soft seat so it will compress. If you have a week knee you may find it annoying how close the pegs are to the seat. in other words you need to lift your feet quite a ways to get in position.
Ericruno 5 months ago
@drewdude320i a ducati monster 696 would be a good choice also, i dont own one but ive rid on it a couple of time, it feels pretty comfortable for medium height/weight guys like me

I'm going against my own personal ethic and have been leaning towards getting a sport bike over a cruiser for my own bike, but my problem is me being short (5 foot 4) and it seems every sport bike I've tried has been to tall for me. Could I get both my feet on the ground with this one? The seat seems low enough.
RowanEmbers 6 months ago
@RowanEmbers. Im not sure if you can flatfoot but its about 2 inches shorter than any other sportbike ive sat on. And it has a softer seat which should help. I myself wanted a suzuki m50 cruiser but ended up wit this and i love it
Ericruno 6 months ago
@RowanEmbers Yes, you would. I am 5ft 6, and I had a bronze 2004 SV650 that wasn't lowered at all, and I could get both feet down. Now got a '06 ZX-6R 636 >:D :) :D :)
roflepiclol 6 months ago
@RowanEmbers you can probably lower the seat yourself, my dad did that to all my bikes when i was a kid, took 2 inches off it

btw. i have a kawasaki ninja 250r. it is the fastest bike i am allowed to ride in denmark. i am very happy with it, but i can also feel that it is a small bike.
but anyway, it is way better then what the other with a small licens are riding. the kawasaki 250r is kinda expensive in denmark. so i am happy that i got the money to be riding something that at least feels a bit like a real racer motorcykle.
EchoNatek 7 months ago
@EchoNatek just so u know it, u can ride a bike bigger than the 250 ninja in denmark -even with the small license that u got.
rsskalle 7 months ago
@rsskalle thanks for replying
yeah i know that you can put in a limite that makes the motor perform less then 34 horsepower.
i am just saying that it is illigal for the small license to ride anything higher then 34 horsepower.
i did think about getting a bigger bike and then just limite it, but the insurance is still higher then ninja 250r, and i can sell it for almost what i payed 2 years later. (i did not buy it brand new.)
but anyway, 16 years old kids on big bikes in USA, thats sick.
EchoNatek 7 months ago
@EchoNatek Hey EchoNatek, u say that the insurance is higher for a bigger bike? well, that can be true, but i have not yet seen that, (when i asked my insurance company, it was the same price for all machines with engines cc between 175-999. ) i was also looking at the 250ninja at that time :D -but im almost 2metres high, so its a little too small for me :) plus i like the fact that i can pull the "plug" after i get the age of 21 (soon)
and a little trick, im elite driver now:P
rsskalle 6 months ago
@rsskalle i can see your point, and a agree. i just dont want to buy a bike that i can not try out before buying it, and also i am very sure that it will still be more expensive in insurance. also please thing about that i can sell my bike for almost same price as i did buy it for. so when i want a bigger bike i can actually try different kind of bikes.
what to you pay in insurance?
btw. i am sorry to inform you that you are NOT an elite driver. takes 5 years. you have MAX 2½ years so far.
EchoNatek 6 months ago
@EchoNatek hey again :) (dont take it like i'm flaming on you, -its not :D )
about being elite driver- your right about the time it takes. Before i got my machine, i was just a minute from buying the ninja250, because i could have a sporty bike for a small amount. Then i saw that i could buy a suzuki (bought a used) and then be elite driver (well, i pay what an elite driver pays) -suzuki and bmw have a speciel deal with an insurance company :) thats how i can be possible :)
rsskalle 6 months ago
@rsskalle ahhh. i see.
some kind of special deal.
nice.
so how much is it in dkr.
i am paying 4500kr a year and 5000kr in self-responsibility (repair only 5000kr no matter the damage).
EchoNatek 6 months ago
does in only take 3 days to get a MC licens????
wtf.
i am from denmark, and it takes 3 weeks AND 2 exams, 1 practical and 1 theory exams.
also you have 2 be 21 years old in order to ride ANYTHING over 250cc.
EchoNatek 7 months ago 6
@EchoNatek yeah from what ive gathered its a lot easier to get qualifications for operating ANY vehicle in the US than in any other country. which leads to people way over shooting their boundaries... however, our punishments are a bit severe. more often than not weve got people having their licenses revoked for a year or more, sometimes permanently depending on the severity of the case. and if you REALLY push to far, you end up dead.
mrnoobJI 6 months ago
@EchoNatek ...and still it does not come close to the stupidity in Norway. Here you will be doing courses and classes for months. It will set you back around 2500EUR and most people fail there last exam. Taking a new exam can take months, and will set you back even more. 2-300euro each try. I wish i could take my license in Denmark ;/
znoop72 3 months ago

I'm 5'10" and I have a 2007 SV-650N. I think that 6'2" would be pushing it on one of these, it's a small bike. It does have a great motor, this is a great little city bike; it's light, cheap, good on gas, fun, cheap to insure and requires little maintenance, I used to have aTriumph Trophy 900 that I rode on many long trips; I don't find my SV to be very comfortable and it would be tough for touring.....it's just not that kind of bike but you could do it if you wanted to.
pt23220c 7 months ago
The SV650S is a sports bike, don't let anyone fool you. The inline 4 are classified as "supersports" or just "superbikes", and are way more at home on a track than on the streets.

@Ericruno thanks i will get a 250r or 500r something really cheap so if i where to drop it wouldn't care as much. i really wanna learn to lean and i think its better to start off light.
gaivoron 8 months ago
@gaivoron either a suzuki gs500 or ninja 500 is ideal. the 250 is dangerous because of lack of power and the wind blows it around too much
Ericruno 8 months ago
How much did you pay for it and do you recommend it as a good starter bike, as far as the relationship with power and handling?
BladeofDoom75 8 months ago
@BladeofDoom75 $2600, great starter. if new to riding take it easy and you will be fine. handles like a dream
Ericruno 8 months ago
hey dude just wondering have you seen lower fairings available for that year ive only seen then for the 2003 +?
asmith929 8 months ago
@asmith929 i think lower fairings came out in 2003, because in 2001 they didnt offer a full fairing bike. but they might still fit the mounting fixtures
Ericruno 8 months ago
@Ericruno cool thanks ill look into that!
asmith929 8 months ago
I have a 2001 SV650S, it is an awesome bike, easy to ride, feels sporty but comfortable, great brakes, it only has around 60hp but it is plenty fast and good for the street because of the torque. A few mods I would recommend would be Yamaha R6 throttle tube for a bit more throttle response, new tires, and a slip on muffler. I have read it is not setup for a heavier rider but I have no experience there because I am 145lbs.
EugeneF15 8 months ago
how much do you think one of this would be worth its a 2001 sv650 a little dent in the rear rim and the front blue part is broken with 11k on it
babyboymalo 9 months ago
@babyboymalo If its just a tiny dent and the rest of the bike is in good shape then i would say not to pay more than $2500.
Ericruno 9 months ago

Theheavyweightable 9 months ago
well this does not make much sense, many ppl say that sv650 is the best for taller riders. and you say that the seat is too low. how tall are you because i am 6.3 idk what to get
gaivoron 10 months ago
@gaivoron I dont think i ever said the seat is "too" low. But this seat is about 2 inches shorter than most other sportbikes, but you sit more straight up than you do hunched over Im 5 foot 10 and im more than ok on it. You need to sit on them because different people like different size bikes.
Ericruno 10 months ago
@Ericruno yeah i think you are right i would just have to try it out, because i am worried my legs would be too cramped. do you have enough room
gaivoron 10 months ago
@gaivoron I have enough room, plus i sit really close to the tank. So i have about 4 inches of seat behind me so you might be ok
Ericruno 10 months ago
@Ericruno thank you man, i think that bike might the best looking thing off 650s, i like yzf600 too but it seems too cramped. anyways thank you
you should do more videos on your bike or get like inhelmet cam
gaivoron 10 months ago
how tightly are your legs bent when youre riding? im 6'1" and you said the seat is pretty low so i was wondering how comfortable it is for you legs, especially on the longer rides
shomean83 10 months ago
@shomean83 Well the seat is lower than a regular streetbike such as a honda cbr or suzuki gsxr. Im not cramped at all and i can ride about 2 hours before getting sore. You can buy a new seat if you need to raise the seat height a little bit

RoyalFustercluck 11 months ago
@RoyalFustercluck Height wise this is a good choice because of the low seat. So this bike or maybe a 600cc sport bike is best. If you find that any bike is too tall you can get it lowered and put a new seat on. Be careful and dont be stupid. Im still young and know people getting killed on them. Just one last week
Ericruno 11 months ago

I own a triumph tiger now, much more comfy on the long haul :D.
monkeyboy441 1 year ago
@monkeyboy441 You may consider it a sport bike but i dont. My reason is that you sit more upright than a real sport bike and the bike doesnt need to rev as much as a sport bike. Dont get me wrong its a fast bike, but its a bit more mellow than a gsxr 600
Ericruno 1 year ago
@Ericruno A cbr600rr is more mellow than a cbr1000rr, they're both sport bikes though. The sv650 revs about as high as a ducati 848 but thats a character of a v-twin. I've seen the gsxr600 and sv650 have almost the same laptimes around cadwell. So the difference between sport bike and non-sport bike is the length of the forks? I used to consider it not a sport bike when I had one but I don't know why now, long time ago.
monkeyboy441 1 year ago
@monkeyboy441 I guess your right. But in reality it doesnt matter what i think....it only matters what my insurance company thinks. Less sporty = less money
Ericruno 1 year ago
@Ericruno That's true, its the same over here. Just for interest when I rode a gsxr600 it was a lot smoother but just kept going and going it didn't feel like it was going fast but then you look down and see 100mph on the dash. The sv pulls hard but runs out of steam quite soon, love the sound and the way it wheelies everywhere though :D. Anyway, nice bike and nice talking to you.

GabrielKnight666 1 year ago
@GabrielKnight666 Honestly, its perfect for you. Its lightweight and the power is predictable. This means that if you rev it a bit too high it wont take off on you. It has enough power to get you out of a bad situation too. This was my fist bike and im only 18. i just took it easy at first and to this day i havent dropped or stalled it. Plus they are cheap to buy and maintain. Either get this or a kawasaki ninja 500. They are ideal bikes.
