i only learnt to touch type in Grade 8 (2006) and now i can reach around 100wpm :D

I learned how to type with Peter's on line system,it's perfect and it's free, I think I can type 100wpm and it's been like 4 mtns that I been doing it.

I started learning how to type wtih the "Mavis Beacon" crap. It didn't help me at all and then i started playing online games and now type around 80-100 WPM so all this learning stuff is crap. All you gotta know is home row, and even that is subjective.

All this color coding stuff is stupid. It is less affective to try and force someone to use certain fingers to type certain letters. If you just use the key board and go on he computer a lot, you will learn to type fast in the most comfortable way for you.

Yeah, it is important. O__O'' I learned to type (not touch type, but just basic typing) in fifth grade writing some 6 month long document on word. It improved writing, reading, grammar, spelling, and of course, typing faster than anything else could possibly have done simply because I wanted to learn to write that thing fast and good and when you want to learn things come quicker. get ur kid interested in it and he'll learn a LOT faster and don't force him. =,='' Never works.

I learned to touch type on a coloured (blank) key board only that was 30 years ago when i was 14 in private lessons on a manuel typewritter it strenghthened my fingers because you had to really press rather hard and fast , especially the little and ring fingers so using a computer keypad is a piece of cake now LOL
