  • The way Miles works with the piano, bouncing off those chords, I love that...I'm sure this is Wynton Kelly.

  • Miles and Trane compliment each other and the band work as one. Strong African and middle eastern vibe in with the jazz here. Beautiful.

  • OMG THE FIRST FIFTH OF COLTRANE'S SOLO. I think god is a saxophone player.

  • Amen everybody--there will never be another Trane. Been in love with this piece for over 40 years and can never get enough! Miles was genious as well--saw both these guys live at a jazz spot called the Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach, CA in the 1960's--amazing!

  • it's 2011 and i'm still listening to it. im 71 year old.

  • Coltrane's solo destroys Miles...much love to both tho

  • so good.

  • and ot prove it - bloody hell, genius on every level, geez..

  • Jazz....in its perfected form........one of the greatest pieces ever performed...

  • Coltrane's unmistakeable sound has never-ever been replicated after all these years. I'm sure he's giving Gabriel some pointers. :-)

    RIP John.

  • It's like you know Coltrane's note is coming @ 3:42 and you're scared and ecstatic at the same time. Like a foghorn that blasts.

  • @Guitar76er Man, tell me about it- he's been scaring me & my bro for nearly 50 years like that- I'm still scared!

  • incredible

  • Every Comment is the truth. Eye See You.

  • @claybornwilliams I remember hearing this for the first time. I was at jimmy Mcnair and Fred Busby spot at the Villa West. Fred put this on the turn table and 'Trane blew me away. I later saw it in your stack back at home. I remember playing just the sax solo for an hour over and over and over again!!! can't get enough one hit is too many and a thousand ani't enough!

  • Love this sooo much. genius.

  • THIS IS HEAVEN TO ME! CASA

  • Introspective...sweet jazz melancholy!

  • 1955-1965: The Golden Age of Jazz.

This is pure artistry and genius.

  • @hombrequemiralaluna I see your appreciation. Don't interrupt this cut nor John Klemmer's "Touch." Miles at Carnegie Hall first 2 cuts are still priceless. 10 years of technical mastery..

  • Two of my Musical heroes...Miles Dewey Davis and John William Coltrane

  • This is my favourite single tune of all time

  • ...now,i can drink my wine properly! :-D

  • @sofiacarvalho3 This is weed music!

  • labeled as" neo" on "in person friday night at the blackhawk" 4-21-61

  • coltrane make me K.O. after 2 notes!!!!miles is great,but coltrane...stratospheric!!!

  • @marlondavis1000

Coltrane has a better vibe, as does Miles when he's with Trane.

  • coltrane just occupied this physical space(earth)that dude harmonic sound was genius

  • So soothing & playful. Love the matadour stilo @ the end section *

  • @eyesrdeeperbrown Precious Miles wrote for Teo Macero the Columbia REcords producer.

  • the tune is bad but coltrane's solo,is a atom bomb.

  • Great teo..Miles did it on another LP and, I believe, J.J. Johnson rendered it a Bob Thiele produced Impulse LP

  • Miles killed it at the end. Is this modal waltz?

  • My all time favourite Davis/Coltrane collaboration, it sweeps me away to some far off place!

  • How can I never have heard this before??? Tasty. Need to brush up on my pre-Kind-of-Blue Miles.

  • This is actually post Kind of Blue. It was recorded in 1961 I believe. Its off the album Some Day My Prince Will Come.

  • Absolutely It's one of my favorite jazz songs.

    The best Coltrane solo

  • MILES Y COLTRANE 2 GENIOS

  • riveting.

  • Some things come and go over time. But some things know no time at all.

  • @mahoose6 Miles the Master and his homage to Teo Macero.I love the Carnegie Hall version, too.

  • @mahoose6 In the Carnegie Hall slightly faster version Hank Mobley subs for Coltrane....it is fantastic!!!

  • You're not out of your time. The thing is, this music is timeless. Sure, there's some great new stuff out too, but most of it is made for the sole purpose of making money. This stuff here is from way down deep, and most people have a hard time coping with it's depth.

  • what you say is fantastic.there are people like you and me that have a hard time dealing with stuff that is opposite of miles and coltranes depth.dana

  • This is Coltrane's best solo with Davis, no doubt.

  • I think I am alittle behind in my time because I enjoy this more than the stuff thats out now. I am 25 and I wish I had a record player so I can hear vinyl instead of CD's

  • It's all in the name

  • Miles's last recordings with Coltrane on Some Day My Prince Will Come. Both tracks specifically chosen to showcase Coltrane - Some Day itself is a waltz and Teo a modal waltz, which reflects Coltrane's unexpected mainstream success with My Favorite Things.

  • The album is: "Some day my prince will come"

  • Producer Teo Macero was a very intelligent and creative person. Trane sounds like he's reaching deeper into the realm of spirit, and parts of the music sound remind me of Sketches of Spain (thank you Frances Davis).

  • This is one of the best songs of Miles and Trane I've ever heard from this period. From what album is this? Thanks.

  • Someday my prince will come- Miles Davis is the album.

  • Thank you; I'm going to look for that album. I think it has Frances Davis on the cover.

  • Ultra Smooth...

  • Coltrane's sax is naughty (in a good way). You can feel his soul with every breath he takes. Like there's a longing. I wonder if he ever found what he was looking for.

  • davis, coltrane, mingus, monk

    all musical geniuses

  • fantastico !!

  • pure energie, know this since 35 jears,

miles and john : was the best in music

  • This is a great cut by Miles , Trane and Canonball. Mostly unknown, but one of their best.

  • I got into jazz a lil over a year now, and i just LOVE IT!!!!!!!! TAKE ME AWAY JAZZ, TAKE ME AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I like Sonny Criss style of jazz too.

  • Miles's modal period was the best ever.
