This is wonderful. As far as the spelling goes, its "baiana". The word "baía" (bay - after the bay of São Salvador) was spelled "bahia" in the past. The spelling changed in 1942 (I think) but the name of the state remained Bahia. Baianas and baianos (withiut H) are the people born in Bahia (with).
