I have to say the most enjoyable concert I ever went to was Tom Petty because you can tell he truley loves his craft, as well as he has mastered it! I believe he and the band loves to preform it is still all about the music, not the crap the artists of today think it is all about!!!
im 13 and tom petty and the heartbreakers are my favourite band of all time i can play most of his songs on guitar i dream to be like him tom petty will live forever!!!!
I have discovered Tom Petty&Heartbreakers lately and I can't get enough of his unique voice. Nobody can sing like he does. So let's put all other famous musicians to the plastic black bag together and Tom Petty is better than this whole plastic bag in Total.
i really really wish why i idolize him so much, his songs have gotten me through so much, when i heard him one day...i just knew that this was gonna be a favorite band...i didnt know it would be #1, and his songs have affected me and changed my life so much...and i dont know if i could ever explain it...and of ocurse his amazing attitude and personality...i just LOVE him
What a wonderful thing to say and share with everyone!! Thanks very much!! I sat through the 4 hour documentary twice, and I could watch it again and again and again!! I love him so much too!!
I'm 25 and Tom Petty is probably my favorite musician. I grew up listening to him; his lyrics taught me lessons. My parents always had Tom Petty playing. I've only been to one concert, Tom Petty; Black Crows opened for them, down in West Palm Beach, FL. There are very few who could come close to topping him as my favorite. He is timeless and truly genius. I thank God for Tom Petty! :D
ever since i was a little girl like of the age of 5 i idolized him
i knew ever song by heart on his greatest hits album by the time is was 7
and the very fist cd i ever bought was saving grace
if i met him today im pretty sure i would breakdown
i know i would
he was one of the main persons who convinced me to pick up guitar
and now at the age of 14 i know what i want to be just because of him. he is what i listen to everyday when i walk to school. im proud to call my self a tom petty fan.
im twelve years old and i have been to 5 of his concerts. second row everytime. i love tom petty. nobody plays music like he does these days. i would do ANYTHING just to meet him in person.
Bloody hell! You are into your retro rock! Good taste, young man, but remember to get into stuff of your times, too- as it is important to live in the moment as well as enjoy the old bands.
saw this on a Sundance Channel by chance. WONDERFUL! Now Tom, Joni MItchell and Leonard Cohen are a few of my inspirations. Would love to work for someone with such perspective, perseverance, talent and intuition.
I finally sat down and watched this and it is amazing. Like a good book you start and just can't put down you just can't stop it's that good. Glad someone finally covered this bands career, and all the people Tom Petty has collaborated with.
Well the documentary that this preview is for has a live concert at the end and the set list includes American Girl so you can get the video from there.
i have that running down a dream on dvd the biography is sooooooooooo COOL!!!!!! OMG!!!! TOM PETTY!!!! YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!! NO FREKIN' JOKE!!!!!! I HAVE EVERY ALBUM!!!!!!!!!!!! IVE LEARNED EVERY SONG ON THE GUITAR!!! KEEP ROCKIN MAN!!!!
This film will be watched again and again...you come away with utter respect for Petty...he is a true poet and class act in every sense of the word. Just got the tour dates today for summer 2008 summer! Gotta see this bad ass one more time while he's still rockin'...oh yeah!
Performed by: The Rolling Stones (or at least Keith Richards) and Tom Petty
If you like that you might wanna check out the Rolling Stones song "Paint it Black" or the Bob Dylan Version of "Like a Rolling Stone" from his album The Essential Bob Dylan or his 1965 album "Highway 61 Revisited" if you prefer his nasally lyrics.
Yeah I do, I just wanted to point out that there's more than one version by a major artist. Sorry for the confusion. I posted that a bit 2 fast. Wish I could edit it.
You're absolutely right. However, everyone has different tastes so I don't think we should discredit cover versions. I like the stones and Dylan versions.
Should come to Portugal, Tom. Regarding Best Buy. Guys: you should be happy enough cause you can get it. God knoes when will it show up on a portuguese shop
Will you please make music video Running down a Dream available for mobile. or anyother vid for that matter. loved you in The Postman as yourself

Album: Stripped (1995)
Performed by: The Rolling Stones (or at least Keith Richards) and Tom Petty

I'm just saying, Tom Petty and his management should be supporting independent stores. Best Buy doesn't need any help.
