that guy was lucky that the giant/big show is a nice man in real life like andre the giant because if he really got pissed off hed only have to sit on that guy to kill him
Smart kids. The tough guy mark got what he wanted, which was to see how tough Wight really is. Pushed him and pushed him until he defended himself and cleaned his clock.
see why its not all peachy being a big man..my uncle was a big man 6'6 285lbs. he could never go out on a night on the town without someone with more testosterone than brains wanting to try him..just because he was so big. he stopped going to bars because of it..he hated fighting all the time..
@motorhead1964 I hear you man. I'm not a big man, but from my barcrawling days there used to be fights all the time. Never got what drives people to start fights with total strangers, often for no reason or at best, trivial reasons. Like you said, more testosterone (along with alcohol and who knows what else) than brains.
He only jabbed him, and he managed to break his jaw. Imagine what a full force punch would have done. It's a good lesson, don't try and mock a 7'2'' 500lbs man.
poor guys, the giant was just trying to be to himself adn cause he tells the moron to leave him alone, the moron gets upset and makes big deal, yea real smart!
@mattbjrs Depending on the force you use, the question will be "is it reasonable"... Here, it is because he just punch once, a bit too strong but... It was not something totally unreasonable like it was awkward ;) You know, if someone insult you and poke you with a finger, you could slap their hand and say "stop right now!", not unreasonable, but it look awkward... It's a fine line, and Paul Wight was just at the limit, but he did not cross it (however how awkward and stupid it look).
@therrydicule correct me if i'm wrong and i usually am but isn't assault when you physically threaten someone and battery when you actually make contact...so technically it should be self defense because the guy was obviously assaulting him...and i think it doesn't matter how big you are you should be able to defend yourself and shouldn't be held to a higher standard just 'cuz your big.
@therrydicule if its an adult knocking out a little kid then yes size should factor in to crime and punishment, but this basically just a drunk douchebag who needed some humbling...i try not to get caught up in this stuff because the crime and punishment system in all countries sucks...except for Singapore a friend of mine from there was telling me they have alot of tooth vs. tooth laws there. You rape a girl they cut off your....America could use some laws like that lol
@The79Machine Well, it's a bit the same principle between adult - a person in defense have to use reasonable in force. In other word, if a trained martial artist (wrestling is a martial art) of 500 pound start beating the crap out an untrained idiot, there is a problem. However, he give one punch so it's really hard to say he abuse his right of defense. Plus, it seem like the drunken idiot was kind of abusing of his own...
@therrydicule I hear what you're saying but I just see things differently. All these laws and rules made by some people who have never been in fear for their lives or under threat and have no idea what its like...sometimes you need to finish a guy off while he's on the ground because he's just going to get up and keep pummeling you or stab and shoot you...some judges and lawyers have no idea what its like to feel threatened...if you punch a guy just once because of "reasonable force" then you.
@The79Machine Yeah, but they been make by hundred of years of experiences in the commonwealth... They are not ideal, but they kind of work ;)
The question is than, does there is enough reasonable ground to think, in that situation, that this drunken idiot will try to kill someone? In some case, it might pass for two different reasons (one being paranoid troubles, which mean one need treatment... The other being the jury think it was reasonable to think like that in the situation).
@therrydicule I know I'm actually not trying to argue against you but my argument is the circumstaces wherein we've made it possible that an innocent man can go to prison for a judges arrogance or a jurys ignorance it's scary to think that a mans life can be held by his peers who could cast off a quick vote without thinking that their decision will ultimately affect the rest of a mans life just because they are in a hurry to adjurn. I hope that I'm never in that situation.
@The79Machine Are you american? If so, I kind of agree... In strategies, there is an idea that punishment for cheating should be as small as possible, as long that it's have the deterrence researched
If someone abuse self-defense, in some case, a couple of hundred hours of community service is enough. If the situation is clear cut, there is no question to be asked - the problem is when it's in the gray area, than... Sometime, question of reasonability and doubt.
@therrydicule Yeah in America, I know everythings not black and white plus you have to factor in witnesses and evidence and camera evidence and how clear it is (the crappy cam from this vid is a good example) Yeah a one punch knockout is perfectly fine to me...also you have to factor in how much he was drinking and not knowing how hard he was actually punching. I'll always be on the side of the guy defending himself even if its over the top. Thats my law =)
@The79Machine I think it definitely is battery if you make contact (I think if you spit at someone it can be battery too), even if it's a chest push. Assuming the news story is correct, Wight had the right to hit back once the guy made contact with him. Especially considering the extenuating circumstances of Wight just minding his business checking into a hotel and a hopped up, big guy accosting him for no reason. That's unnerving no matter how big you are.
@peterp21 hey i totally agree man i'm a fim believer in "what goes around comes around" im tired of this political answers like "oh he's too big" those are the same type of people that put marines in jail for kicking butt defending themselves saying "well you're a marine you should have determined reasonable force" its like "hey if a guy is outnumbered or defending himself or his girl he should be able to use all the force he wants" put me on the jury and an innocent man will never serve time.
Punk ass deserved to have his jaw shattered! Now if he didn't physically provoke him, that would be different. If I was the judge in this case, I'd arrest the man who started it with assault. Sadly today there is no such thing as "self defense". You have to go running to the cops like a petulant school girl "Teacher teacher, this guy hit me"
also I've had lots of large male friends(one of them is a wrestler) and I wouldn't wanna see the result of a man who is dumb enough to piss one of them off. Most big men are peaceful until provoked then the monster is unleashed and hell on wheels to get under control. So if u don't eant to be brutally mauled by an angry big man respect his space and everyone elses cuz it ain't just the big guys who will knock u the f**k out.
dude had to be crazy I don't know how or why he thought bigshow or any other person was supposseed to react any different. I mean If someone is in my personal space I would knock the f**k out of their a** too (has happened) and I'm a female. I've seen fight with men on men and girl on girl and its usually do to an invasion of personal space and it gets worse when the idiot just keeps pressin your f**king buttons. Bigshow did what anyone would do if they were being insulted, and annoyed.
MAN ALL THIS WAS IS A GUY WHO WANTED TO FIGHT THE BIG SHOW AFTER PROBABLY DRINKING WITH HIS BUDDIES AND SAYING HE COULD TAKE BIG SHOW AND WIPE THE FLOOR WITH HIM.WHO ELSE WOULD DO THIS KNOWING THAT IF YOU TOUCH SOMEONE OVER AND OVER WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO DEFEND YOURSELF AND I ALMOST GOT MY EYE POKED OUT BY A MAN WITH SAUSAGES ON HIS FINGERS POINTING IN MY FACE FINGERNAILS HIDE BACTERIA AND CAN TEAR YOUR RETNA SO WHOEVER THINKS POINTING A FINGER IN ONES FACE WATCH DIS VID
If some guy pushes me, I consider that an attack and that my life could be in danger should the agressor continue his assualt with punches. The Big Show here was perfectly within his rights to defend himself. Of course every state has its own laws on the subject.
Fact is, Paul Wight is universally regarded as 1 of the nicest guys in the buisness and this guy must have verbally pushed him pretty hard for Wight to hit him.
Some idiot always thinks they're brave by poking the bear. Big guys get that a lot; then when they react, the asshole who STARTED it always plays the victim.
Paul shoulda known better than to do permanent damage though, he was obviously upset; he's a shy person because of his size, and it's easy to agitate him. His mistake was asking the guy to stop, the asshole took his for weakness... to his own demise.
This is awesome......a punch to the jaw was well deserved for provoking him to.....punch him in the jaw.
If someone asks you or provkoes you to do something, and it happens....then the person doing the provoking should get charged with wasting the court's time.
@seikogoldwatch2009:Just because he isn't built like a bodybuilder doesn't mean he isn't powerful or all muscle.Big Show's more stronger than most bodybuilders & that's from muscle mass, not fat.
@mattbjrs No. The point is don't push somebody in the chest. You have no right to lay a hand on anybody unless they want you to. If they do you can act in self defense. Most..most...MOST of the time you will get away with it.
There is no reason normal people should have to put up with assholes.
What kind of dumbass walks up to a wrestler that's 7 feet tall and 420 pounds of freakin muscle?! He's lucky he even walked away with a broken jaw! This dude could have torn him apart!
@seikogoldwatch2009:Let him punch you.Bet he'll split your DNA.Big Show is a massive & incredibly strong person.Just because he isn't defined as a bodybuilder doesn't mean he isn't muscle. The idiot who got his jaw broken learned this firsthand.
@seikogoldwatch2009 This is back before paul started gaining a lot of weight. He was mainly muscle in that era, 7ft 420lbs of monster is what he was. Shaq wish's he could beat this guy. Also, Paul Wight was on a basketball team throughtout High school and has slammed a genuine 500lb Viscera before. He is a man of monstrous strength just like Andre the giant. The man he punched is lucky all he received was a broken Jaw.
@mattbjrs I wouldn't label it self defense, but if somebody puts their hands on you, then I believe you have the right to forcefully persuade them to never do it again.
