I'm starting to watch Andromeda Season 3 now. I watched and loved Seasons 1 and 2, but people tell me it's all down hill from now.
Is it really worth watching the rest? The CG is already looking better now, but I'm already not enjoying this as much as before... Tyrs arms, for instance, just seemed messed up.
Anyway... I'm going to keep trying to watch Season 3 and see how it goes :(
@cantorock all the seasons of andromeda were great, except for season 5 with all the bar room fighting BS. it was like it went back in time, not like an advanced scifi time, so season 5 sucked. the final episode was good thou :)

actually, go back and re-watch it, in the ending, they say it was destroyed by a rogue comet. Sabotage was what they were thinking because the first officer was a Nietzchean who's pride was renowned for betrayal.
The Lancers Hope was from the last episode of season 3. It was commanded by an admiral of the fleet, and was destroyed in the same episode. It was the episode that tyr actually betrayed the commonwealth.
How about if the Andromeda being relocated to the timeline of Star Trek Deep Space Nine by Q and encountered Picard and the USS Enterprise-E during the Dominion War ?!
the andromeda would only launch tir in an armored assauld capsule and the enterprice would be finished even a borg cube wouldnt stand a chanze against the andromeda (if they want to asimilate her she only would blow up the cube with her mind XD)
I wonder what would happen if Dylan Hunt met Picard ? lol I bet Andromeda would lay waste to the Enterprise. haha I would like to know if the Andromeda design was Gene Roddenberry's design? If it was, that was by far the most beautiful of all ships. Not to mention the avatar :)
dunno....quantum/photon/phasers would rip through the Andromeda.....has no shields, just armor on the hull....and the enterprise has shields against the missiles....that is just my thought through......
But you have to think that the armor of the Andromeda is more powerful than any shields (remember Voyager with the Batmobile deployable armor? it was stronger) in Andromeda shields has no use cos the weapons are a lot more stronger, and they would be depleted in minuts. Photon torpedos have a fictional 50-60 megaton range. In adromeda the megatons are out of scale (too heavy the weapons I think)
The design of the andromeda is very roddenberry. See the two red lines in the rollbar? bussard collectors. they mention them in one episode of the 1st season XD , with the need of "photon missiles" , that says Tyr in a dialog XD very much trek here ..but in the 51st century..

"They" wanted to be more open to casual viewers... which tends to conflict with the loyal fans. Personally, I'm not at all convinced that a large random audience is better than a smaller loyal one...

In my point of view most of the episodes is about how many women captain H. met.... It just lost the spark of the previous two seasons. If only they had never done the change.
SG1 could easily have gone longer if it hadn't been for the damn network assholes. Same with SGA as well. I am glad we got stargate back. But seriously, the Universe is kinda annoying with all the crappy drama.
I really am not interested in whom that damn 'senator's daughter' is sleeping with. I will give them one thing, the actress is attractive.

Though it did suffer from two incompatible visions. the Season 1 &2 being good and the rest (IMHO) almost completely horrible in comparison to it's potential. (Dillan became a actual God on the show again!) In some ways better if you keep thinning it was canceled.
@RahdeTheFine Agreed the first 2 seasons were the best.. The others became odd and were losely attached to the main stories of the first 2 seasons. Thats because they fired the main story writer after season2. He was the real creative head for the episodes in the first 2 seasons.
They also had less budget available for the other 3 seasons. The producer studio vanished after the end of Andromeda.

Not quite true. Andromeda worked on a lower budget than Babylon 5 and did spit out considerably higher quality visually. Especially in season 4 and 5, where they received a new CGI crew.
The reason it was canceled was rather a whole series of misconceptions by the studio, which fired their brilliant creative showrunner half way through the series. From that point forward, the show degraded and continually lost viewers. In the old times, it was the #1 syndicated series (season 1+2)
