You did great!! Most people could not even build what you did!! I use bamboo for my darts, I just clip them and they sprout out thinner shoots. Those thinner shoots make great darts, with alot of flex!! I grow mine in my back yard, so they are there when ever I need new ones. the atlatl is the grandfather of the bow and arrow. the throwing handle should be curved downward like a parenthesese on its side. and your head should be made of antler. also put some goose or other large feathers on the dart (not called an arrow). and if your losing your darts. put some green or orange tape on the shaft. if your dart isn't going as far as you'd like tie a stone to the handle to add some extra push. don't give up on the atlatl you may need that skill some day

awesome I hadn't even seen this vid yet......I've used lighter versions with the spear...not nearly as well but mainly because I don't get to run about in the wild like some people :P
though I'm working on doing that...running about in the wild I mean.....
i amke my spear out of dowl from teh hardware store with three flethers on it

i have putting regular feathers on, but there not big enough to made much difference.

havn,t seen that design before, nice. i use cane for my darts also. have you tried fletching them.
