It must all be different on mac? I hate IE, Safari, and Chrome on PC. If you have a PC, then Firefox is the way to go. I will just have to try them all with the exception of IE when my mac gets here. I'm not sure how I feel about Opera either way.

Haha wow. I've used all of these browsers for many lengths of times. I used IE for about 2 years. Firefox for about 7 months and chrome for about 4 months. I just recently got a MacBook about 6 days ago and I already can tell that safari is the fastest web browser I have ever used.

I use Firefox, too. FF has a very neat add-on called FoxyTunes, which allows me to control my mp3 player from the statusbar (play/stop/next/prev etc.)

this saves me switching from Firefox to foobar2000 or Winamp and then back whenever I want to skip a song.

I just click on the statusbar and keep on browsing.

does Firefox load a javascript-heavy website slower than Iron? yes. but... one of its add-ons has just saved me 5 seconds.

I timed from when the content starting loading. IE 8 appeared somewhat quickly, but it took a long while to load anything for me. I cleared everything out and ran the test quite a few times and that was what I got.

Despite your methodology, you have to question your results to come up with a launch/load time for IE8 at an avg of 13 seconds. Do you understand that if your launch results are skewed for one reason or another, then the results of all your other tests come into question. If possible, you should try repeating these tests on another computer. Because I cant get over that 13 second launch/load time.

I can understand where you are coming from. I did say that these results weren't scientific, as I could only test on the one computer, so perhaps that test could have been off. However, even if that's the case, all of the rest of the tests had very little to do with the computer itself (not to mention that most other browser comparisons have agreed with the general order).

Not really. There is a developers release of it that you can download, but it's still missing a lot of features right now. I'd probably bet on it being released as at least a normal beta in a couple of months or so.

I think part of the reason is that they really didn't focus on working on Chrome for anything but Windows for a while, but it also has a lot to do with the fact that Windows, Mac and Linux are all quite different OSes.

I use Chrome 3.0.183.1 , and it is the fastest browser. I also have Firefox 3.1b3 and without addons it is also prety fast, but still slower then Chrome. I checked latest Opera, it were fast almost like Chrome.
