The lipo wont always burn out the stock motor i have been running a 7.4v 180mah lipo on a stock motor for awhile now. Just remember to lube the gearbox so it doesnt break or bind :)

The lipo should burn out the stock motor witch is why you also need to get it a brushless motor when you buy the lipo

@tankifycation I've had mine since 2008 and nothing has happened to the motor. I use the Lipo recommended by Losi and it works perfectly.

sorry... I'm a super noob to the car and just bought one off ebay. No instructions. I literally just got it and haven't had a chance to tinker with it.... So don't make fun of me, but:

do you have to take the bottom part off to connect it to the charge box that came with it or do I just hook it up to one of the "sockets" coming from the car? And why are their two "sockets" coming out of the car to plug stuff into?

Sorry, I'm asking such basic questions, but any answers would help. thanks.

plug the two wires together to make the car go. you only plug the wire that is directly connected to the battery to the charge box

i just purchased a green micro t and i replace the battery with the Losi 7.2v LiPO and the difference in the speed is outrageous wheelie every time, i work at a hobby shop and i was thinking about doing the brushless upgrade, but you need the motor and esc which is $50, new reciver, micro servo and servo saver like a 200 dollar upgrade

Yeah, I messed around with these for only a little bit after we got them going this fast. The problem is... they are tiny and their parts are tiny, so when you start to beef it up, everything breaks. The transmissions were ridiculous and we eventually gave up on the Micro T's. I have an Associated RS18 that is AWESOME... best RC car I've ever owned. If you're in the market to spend $200 on a car anyway, get an Associated and upgrade the motor and battery... so much fun!

I just bought a desert micro T the other day... I was impressed with it stock! The lipo upgrade is awesome but if you really want to get nuts, I installed two 3.7 volt Lipo 1100 mah Cellphone batteries on mine and its PISSED. I will have a video soon hopefully. Mine has only HALF that range though. maybe in the house there are too many signals. Need to take it to a parking lot!!! Nice Vid, Nice coarse!

It's just a lipo... the motor didn't burn up really, but the Micro T transmission just is not made to handle that much power and we blew through about 3 of them almost immediately.

I dont know if anyone can help me, but whenever i punch the gas on my micro t (only while driving) the motor cuts out (but the steering still works). I have to turn off the power in order to restore the car to working condition (until it does it again!)I ws wondering if anybody had any ideas of the problem. please respond... thx

This happened on mine in the beginning too. I attributed it to the transmission being broken in. Use the smallest pinion from the 3 you got for 2 or 3 packs that should cure it. Also try to go ball bearing ASAP because your rear wheel bushings *will* wear out soon, especially if you're on lipo and drive it daily. I have more fun with this than my Rusty VXL and AX10 Scorpion put together!

skyline99119 if it is a new micro t, with stock it should go about 11-13 mph. After a while the motor and the battery wears out. I have a micro t and have had it for 8 months and now with stock it goes about 6-8 mph. But now I got the lipo and it goes about 25-28 mph. Maybe even 30.

mine has lasted so far. The pinions have worn a little but nothing actually broken, just try not to punch it too often for the wheelies and you should be fine. Investing in an RPM front bumper will also save your front suspension from head on collisions.

nice i got mine 2 and i figured out how to put like mini drift tires on the micro t! --------- jus take a piece of tape 3-5 inches long and wrap it around the wheel, works perfect!! -- might post vid of it later!!

I did this to mine. $40 bux out the door, the truck is still 100% stock. If you're careful with throttle you get a much longer runtime, but if you hammer it, you can get crazy drift action. I'm already needing to get new tires for mine:) These micro's are so much fun I'm selling my brushless powered half-8

Oh yeah, most definitely. They're kind of a pain to install (everything's a pain on this car because it is so small), but even if that's your only upgrade, you will notice a difference in the way the car drives.
