How come you protesters keep removing your comments. It smacks of you not knowing what your talking about in a similar way as the fact that you have no idea who to aim your protests at.
The media chose to show what they wanted and made the whole thing sound like a riot. Where are the video's of the music and dancing going on? or the messages on the banners? or the crazy outfits people were wearing? or the huge group of cyclists who cycled up and down road? or the families and children? there is a report in the new york times which gives a slightly less biased view of the whole thing, just search 'protests coal'. have a read.
I agree the security staff and police did do an excellent job. People have got to realise that we need to act on global warming now for the sake of our children. It was mainly a peaceful protest but a few people decided the only way to tell our message is to try and break down a fence. its only a fence after-all, a little bit of damage for the sake of saving our planet? i personally wouldn't get involved in any criminal activity but some people are willing to take that risk.
you got to hand it to the security staff and the police. allow a peaceful protest, nothing wrong in that. But since those Swampy hippy rent-a-mob types got involved - i decided to put the tv on, make a brew and watch the footy on telly
It is absolutely time the police got tough with these anarchists. Me, like most reasonable people will gladly listen to reasonable protest and debate. This wasnt either, just criminal vandalism. They chose to destroy private property, trespass, assault the police, and breach the peace. Come on british authorities. Show some teeth,
Don't your F'n police have guns? This kinda of shit wouldn't stink very long in the US.
Trespassing, Destruction of Property, Breaking and entering, ...
You'd probably be attacked by dogs, tasered, handcuffed, and/or shot in the head if you tried to take down a security fence around a power plant in the US.
This is funny to watch. Amazing what they let you get away with in the UK. Have you atched any of the G20 vids from Pittsburgh -- hell they kidnapped innocent students.
And those two budding newsreaders with the electric bulb, fed by coal fired electricity, burning in the background ....well, they really give a great impression to the public, who are obviously slightly more sensible than they are.
They havent got my support when they act like this and are obviously just out for a days fun and criminal mischief. The're obviously not as clever as they would have us believe.
There's a lot of comments being removed by the author. How very weak. Those petty vandals ripping down a fence and punching police officers won't make any difference to the environment, they only cost the taxpayer a fortune and ultimately harm the cause they seek to promote.
I can imagine the conversations when these activists get home: "Victory! Lets put the kettle on!"
Can i just mention the fact that the majority of people there were peacefully protesting along the road around the power station with banners, music and dancing? there were whole families there, peacefully sharing their message and at one point there was a 9 or 10 year old girl stood on the fence holding a banner- tell me, is she a thug or a terrorist?
Neither, im talking about the idiots that went there with the intention of entering private property to make as much disruption as possible and potentially putting themselves and others at risk. Theres nothing wrong with protesting as long as it is held in a peaceful and respectful manner. Even in one of the ''tweets'' someone had posted '' yeah lets swoop the shit outta it''.
None of the people from climate camp has even come forward to say they don't condone such actions so what are people to believe. To top it off they're the first ones to cry foul when they get bitten by a dog or such.
Interested parties should Google 'workshop vegan dictators', and select the bristol indy media article on the Welsh 'climate camp' for what I believe is a representative sample of their politics/objectives, however much they may joke about it, or allege to hold democratic considerations. Loved the 're-education' reference.
have you never believed in something strongly? Even if you exhaust other ways first direct action is still an option, if not just a final one even ghandi recognised this. i will not note that the police are not stopping the protest as i am not there. You cannot do anything without your own ideology even if you are apathetical, if you were pushed into a corner and told you could be nothing not even breath would you not react? This is the corner, this ideology is about preventing death.
You guys are complete idiots. Yay lets go and shut the power down yay.. pathetic. That same power is whats running your laptop. Nice one chaps. If you succeded, which lets face it, you had no chance, with any luck some of you would of been electricuted. Personally i'd charge you all with terrorism, as its not far short of that. Idiots, just idiots.
ud be saying the same to the civil rights movement if it hadn't already succeeded through civil disobedience and we are now enjoying the freedoms they fought and died for and comfortably look back and say 'good for them'. supporting the grassroots movements AS THEY HAPPEN is a lot harder. if the crisis is ever averted in the future we will look back at ignorant voices like yours and feel only disgust
The hell are you talking about, by your argument it is fine to break the law as long as your ''doing the right thing'' by your own judgement. The Taliban are doing the same thing in the middle east with hundreds of servicemen lost because of that argument. So rather than protest peacefully, gather support, produce media to spark intrest in the debate you'd prefer to commit criminal acts?
This is the kind of stupid people we have to deal with who have no clue what they are talking about.

CO2 does not cause climate change, it's been proven as a fact. Learn for yourself. Search Youtube for "global warming hoax"

lol exactly. I don't think these people should even be given the title activist, they're nothing more than thugs and terrorists.

An artists impression, distant promises and aid is given in bangladesh.
People are raped, tourtured and flee their country only to be told that they must return to certain death,
all the while our natural world crumbles around us,
it is easy to criticise those that make a difference, us being not accountable.
These people are not cowards they have stood up and done something that pushes a front forwards, it's admirable and inspirational.
Aint nothing gonna change your climate?
