The media chose to show what they wanted and made the whole thing sound like a riot. Where are the video's of the music and dancing going on? or the messages on the banners? or the crazy outfits people were wearing? or the huge group of cyclists who cycled up and down road? or the families and children? there is a report in the new york times which gives a slightly less biased view of the whole thing, just search 'protests coal'. have a read.

I agree the security staff and police did do an excellent job. People have got to realise that we need to act on global warming now for the sake of our children. It was mainly a peaceful protest but a few people decided the only way to tell our message is to try and break down a fence. its only a fence after-all, a little bit of damage for the sake of saving our planet? i personally wouldn't get involved in any criminal activity but some people are willing to take that risk.

There's a lot of comments being removed by the author. How very weak. Those petty vandals ripping down a fence and punching police officers won't make any difference to the environment, they only cost the taxpayer a fortune and ultimately harm the cause they seek to promote.

I can imagine the conversations when these activists get home: "Victory! Lets put the kettle on!"

Can i just mention the fact that the majority of people there were peacefully protesting along the road around the power station with banners, music and dancing? there were whole families there, peacefully sharing their message and at one point there was a 9 or 10 year old girl stood on the fence holding a banner- tell me, is she a thug or a terrorist?

Neither, im talking about the idiots that went there with the intention of entering private property to make as much disruption as possible and potentially putting themselves and others at risk. Interested parties should Google 'workshop vegan dictators', and select the bristol indy media article on the Welsh 'climate camp' for what I believe is a representative sample of their politics/objectives, however much they may joke about it, or allege to hold democratic considerations. Even if you exhaust other ways first direct action is still an option, if not just a final one even ghandi recognised this. i will not note that the police are not stopping the protest as i am not there. The hell are you talking about, by your argument it is fine to break the law as long as your ''doing the right thing'' by your own judgement. The Taliban are doing the same thing in the middle east with hundreds of servicemen lost because of that argument. So rather than protest peacefully, gather support, produce media to spark intrest in the debate you'd prefer to commit criminal acts?
