  • Fucking phenomenal song! Has anyone heard Destroyer's version? I think it's pretty damn fucking phenomenal as well. Thank Christ for New Order!

  • This is the first time I heard this song ....I never thought New Order could get any better ♥ So glad I was proven wrong.

  • these guys ripped interpol off totally

  • @koilikethefish where around way longer than interpol idiot

  • @ThaMuzeekEnthuziest ""Where" and you're calling someone else an idiot? Well, well...

  • @OldEchoes1 oh my god i spelt were with an H im such a fucking dumb ass

  • @ThaMuzeekEnthuziest Yes, yes you are.

  • @koilikethefish get your facts right, all you have proved with that statement is your utter lack of music knowledge

  • @koilikethefish they're old enough to be Interpol's parents and existed decades before them.

  • new order, bauhaus, Joy Division...i'm 36 and i listen this band when i was 11 years...great moments with this bands, thank you for the upload!!!

  • this aint punk its sub new wave

  • @thrashman2001 I think it's more post punk since it was released right in early 80's. New Wave happened in the mid 80's.

  • I don't consider New order too much of a Postpunk band, but this is def their best post punk song.

  • This is my life anthem!

  • interpol is the poor man's New Order

  • @CANADA5UCKS

Interpol and New Order (and Joy Division) are all wonderful

  • I'm 16 and this is the soundtrack to my life <3

  • @dorkjls5 I AM 29 AND NEW ORDER IS THE SOUNDTRACK OF MY LIFE

  • Brilliant.

  • awesome tune

  • best album closer ever - take that Stone Roses!

  • @314159caomhin I see your point as i know for a fact that there are millions of people who go through so much worse than me but it is the way in which my mind works which makes me feel this way, not because i think i have it worst but because i dont see the point. And no one please reply by trying to tell me the point to life, i know you are trying to help but as i said, its the way my mind works and it cant be changed. I am not saying you are wrong, just wanted to voice my opinion.

  • 13 people were left alone

  • my all time favourite new order tune. just love this one. i've loved the tune 25 + years and i ain't getting bored with it. anyone who dislikes this is a bloody moron.

  • @gotthesuss Too true mate!

  • Love this song so much!

  • long live the wave..XB music lives in our heart as times goes by.

  • @314159caomhin but knowing other people have it worse doesn't make you hurt less... it doesnt help at all...

  • @ShoutingParalized actually it does it lets you know that there are people in this earth that have gone through worse yet they still stand triumphant over their sorrows it lets you know your gonna be ok because someone who went through worse pulled through so why cant you...it gives you hope thats been long overdue

  • @ShoutingParalized deal with it

  • Best New Order song eveeeer!

  • How can u possibly dislike this.

  • im glad my friend has this album....great song...

  • ceremony was origininally written by ian curtis, it was one of the last songs he ever wrote (R.I.P) its my favouite song and the new order version of it totally beats it.

felt like being a smartiepants there

but i agree, ive always thought of jd as a band who punches a depressing or deep message and softens it with carefree instruments that kind of sounds happy almost nostalgic(pre closer, where they go all out sadistic) and you can see that in this song

    @kwanza6669

  • Amazing!

  • EPIC!

  • I love the beat of this song,love the group too!Cheers! (=

  • awesome. best track on album

  • 10 people didn't leave New Order alone

  • MI GUSTA

  • whenever i listen to New Order i can always here so much Joy Division in them. (of course being 3/4 of JD) i think a lot of it has to do with Hook's bass... but their still a completely different band, they evolved into something great... this particular song reminds me of 'Ceremony'

  • The music of my death

  • wow thats a real freakin long intro :/

  • @emokanda Don't you? it's so amazing, i slowed this song down 15x looped the intro about 3 minutes longer so amazing..

  • best song ever

  • all memories fly in this destroy song...

  • i take it you live in Mandaluyong area of manila, alot of my relatives live within that area

  • An all-time favorite...

  • im waitng a minute for it to start!

  • Lovely to listen to these songs and feel the depressing athmosphere of the '80s back again. The pre-internet stone age.......

  • this kinda sounds like a fast version of little motel by modest mouse or little motel by modest mouse sounds like a fast version of this hahaha

  • Youtube needs a repeat button.

  • i never understood the first two verses from this song.

  • i want this beautiful picture!!

  • today's kids need to hear this

  • @jamesedwardtheobald they do. 80s are back.. at least here in germany ^^

  • Edwyn Collins & The Drums - In Your Eyes seems to be an actual version for this incredible song,,,from an absolutely amazing album.

Specially when heard on vinyl format

  • generic comment relating to how only justin bieber fans would dislike this

  • @soldat182 haha

  • ever notice how beautiful those flowers are?

  • Not impressed with the singing, but i love the actual backing track and the lyrics.

  • @EmilyStation1994

I love the singing. It's Bernard finding his way as a vocalist after the death of Ian and his voice is raw and emotional. It really adds to the song

  • 9 IDIOTS

  • @philokiko And their leader... U

  • @philokiko i have to correct you...13 FUCKIN MORONS

  • @philokiko 13 now

  • @philokiko make that 13 :)

  • @philokiko more like 14

  • floors me too, every time...

  • have they ever bettered this, pure fuckin class, just floors me everytime... beautiful

  • The last 30 seconds of this song made me think of Ian.

  • ...You get these words wrong

    Every time

    You get these words wrong

    I just smile.....

  • "For these last few days leave me alone Leave me alone Leave me alone".....wow this lyrics and the final riff T__T

  • I am a huge NO fan. This is my favorite song. NO amazes me day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, decade after decade.

  • @AcmeNewsLLC Gee, how old are you, ninety?

  • i will love my mum forever

  • The Chappaquiddick Skyline cover does it justice.

  • @th1s1sm1n3 Absolutely not. It lacks emotion IMO.

  • when i die i am going to ask Ian if he will sing this for me.....Is that selfish....either way this song needs his voice...it was probably written for his voice anyway.....peace....bye Ian

  • @joydivisionthecure Ian is dead,you pillock.

  • hey ekoeselitz . you arent alone . I love that statement , it completely encapsulates what the whole damn thing is about . I couldnt have said better words about this song if I tried ... thank you

  • modest mouse "little motel" is so similar to this

  • @cadenC89 I thought the same thing when I heard this song some on pandora today! I was like wow, this sounds like a strange mix of modest mouse and the cure kind of, I love it.

  • @blinkmexxx yeah, that melody and some guitar are very MM reminiscent, and the rhythm section is thecureish all the way. very curious observation.

  • 5555*

  • From the first note of this song,... I am reminded of when it wasnt so bad

  • @GZZuS What - New Order, or life :)

  • @TheOldEchoes

    why ?

  • You wont hear this kind of beautiful song anymore.

Truly a classic by New Order, offshoot of Joy Division.

  • @morethanever100 Well done CAPTAIN OBVIOUS

  • cheesy pop what are you on man dont you know a song when you hear one obviously not

  • this got voted the 10th most depressing song ever. Why? This is cheesy pop compared to decade or 24 hours by Joy Division :)

  • @012greenej Don't be a total LARD.

  • uffff....

  • What an album closer this was.

  • Oh how it hurts, after 10 years

  • Best song of a really good album, imho.

  • Pure emotion.

  • Fucking beautiful...

  • spirits lives on...

  • Muito Joy! Muito!

  • this song was one of the best song that i ever heard in my youth years

  • one of their best tracks.

  • It's going to be so quiet in here tonight

A thousand islands in the sea

It's a shame ... a thousand islands in the sea and i am here whit all the hypocritical people

  • excellent tune.could imagine ian curtis singing this. great band.

  • one of my first cassette tapes!!! I used to choose to walk home from Jr high so I could listen to more of it...

  • my fave new order song bar non ,cheers for the upload ,if you was a girl ide buy you half f your a man a pint it is

  • La musique de mon enterrement

  • This songs send chills down my spine.. It cant explain feeling isolated any better!! Wow!!

  • I wish more of this album sounded like this and Age of Consent.

  • we did a cover of this song as an opening back in MTI in 1990. man, there were just 2 us, natz on guitar/vocals using a brit accent and I on drums, but we pulled it off, man. brings back memories, really. we had crappy set but we nailed it. the crowd dint know what hit them. "then a hundred years ago I sailed a trumpet sound to bring me a look. from my head to my toes to my feet to my nose you get these words wrong. you get these words wrong every time. you get these words wrong. i just smile"

  • i lerv it....

  • luv this.

  • Joven chico andalúz

    Erés un genio.thanks you !!

  • Listening to this song for the first time.

As it should, it's making me cry, I know I won't forget this one easily

  • @theravenbard Well said. I feel the same when I hear this song. There's just so much going on in it.

  • @theravenbard You should listen to Your Silent Face - that's a good one too.

  • this is one of my favourite songs of all time, absolutely incredible. i've played this every day since the day i got the album. it is timeless.

  • @UltimateVenom It will never get old and will always mesmerize...

  • For eight solid months after the divorce, every single time she called, at the end of the conversation I'd hang up the phone, drop the needle on this song, and cry.

  • @ekoeselitz damn, you just gave me chills!!

  • @ekoeselitz Ian Curtis :/

  • @ekoeselitz damn... sorry about your divorce. :/ good song though, eh?

  • @ekoeselitz You have the heart of a lion my friend, don't forget that please? Have listened to this as well, the moments past and present weaving some sad tapestry. If anything, I understand, more than I could tell you in a simple reply. May all good things come to you.

  • @ekoeselitz rofl!! loser!!!!!!!

  • @potchoker Go fuck yourself.

  • @ekoeselitz this comment made me cry :(

  • omg this song is so beautiful

i fell in love with it the first time i heard it

  • I feel lots of emotions coming to the surface when I hear this.

  • Incredible, incredible lyrics combined with intoxicating sounds just make this a very perfect song.

  • love the bassline sounds sooo meaty!!

  • After 27 years I still get goosebumps from this song. They were such a great guitar pop band that all the synths took away from this fact!! Procession another beautiful guitar song, but synths were the state of the industry and New Order were State of The Art!! Tom boyle Chicago 09/19/10

  • One of my all time favorite New Order songs.

  • This song brings out so many emotions inside me that I try to hide from everyone else!!

  • I think about the time and I must say: it was nice!

  • My favorite finishing song.

  • In these new days of Biebers, Britneys, and bozos, oh, how I long for a new band with that 80's influence sound. There is nothing quite like it. It's a ghost of yesterday's past that I thirst for...

"On a thousand islands in the sea

I see a thousand people just like me

A hundred unions in the snow

I watch them walking, falling in a row

    We live always underground

It's going to be so quiet in here tonight

A thousand islands in the sea

    It's a shame..."

  • Very reminiscent of Joy Division...

    What year?

I'm almost embarrassed to admit I think this is my first time hearing this track.

    Heartfelt melancholy.

    Thank you.

  • @KControlz it is Joy Division but without Ian!!!!

  • @bernhardsart

    Yeah,I know.lol

I meant in comparison to their sound after this album. You know, when they really started using more synths and drum machines.

It's all special though.New Order are amongst the greatest. +

    Rest in Peace Ian. +

    New Order Forever...

  • @KControlz Actually the two albums after this one were heavily guitar orientated, both Low Life and Brotherhood.

  • @figurehead1971

    Yes,I know.Good point,but I didn't mean literally after this album.

    You get the picture.

  • @bernhardsart --oye!

  • @bernhardsart Correct, in so far as New Order ARE jOy Division without Ian. They are NOT different bands. Jaysus, this adolescent drivel JD vs NO drives me up the fucking wall!!

  • @liamevans

I hate to disagree, but New Order could never be the same group without Ian.It's true their music would have never evolved in the way it did if it hadn't been for Ian's death, but if Ian had lived this precious gem we call New Order would have never been. With all due respect no one's comparing them in a competitive way. That would be wrong.Absurd even.

  • @KControlz You're right but then again, a lot of NO early stuff was very reminiscent of JD due to them just coming off the back of losing Ian Curtis to suicide. If I remember rightly, this entire album is a tribute to Ian Curtis; or I could well just be forming my own opinion on it

  • @PhilSupernova88

Oh,I don't think I ever got around to replying, but yes you're absolutely right.

I didn't know that about the album either.Thank you for sharing.I often enjoy these conversations with my fellow youtubers.

  • @KControlz 1983

  • To me, it always brings back memories of wanting to be left alone. We all have those moments in life. Mine were usually after a funeral - especially if I was a pall bearer. Fortunately, I had very good friends who knew when it was time to engage and comfort me.

  • Big New Order fan here yet 1st time I ever heard this song

  • @cyprixx

Me too. how did I miss this gem?

  • One of my favorite new order songs.

  • super hella fukn cute i fukn love this song! ;)

  • i agree thats what i was just thinking mate....

  • This must have been right after the breakup of Joy Division....still sounds so much like them....rest in peace Ian Curtis

  • I heard this song yesterday for the first time. Great song.

  • I love you tube, for years i would listen to this song and sit and think is it just me or does anyone else think this is a superb beautiful song. One of my absolute favourite and thats not at all easy.

  • @TheJimbo720

  • chingona rola!! me encanta

  • This is one of those songs that reminds me of Ian Curtis.

  • intimate song, but somehow I have to turn up the volume as I listen to it, even now at 2:16 in the morning. pure wonder.

  • Never felt so happy feeling sad, this song always makes me feel a bit mellon collie.........It's absolutely beautiful and still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!

    Amazing track!

  • New Order can remain detatched and still be so very sad ....music is for the listener as much as the musician and this song ....well....it damn makes me cry almost every time......props to merritime law

  • Take me away, everyone when it hurts thou...

  • love the guitar in this song.

  • @Crazydguy I think it's one of the greatest guitar riffs ever
