they went through certain phases...since their inception in the early 80's they were straight up hardcore, around 85-86 they went into a 80's style crossover phase. When the 90's rolled around they got a little heavier than before until they broke up. They came back in '96 with their original traditional hardcore sound and around the mid 2000's revamped into today's metalcore sound that is popular with the youngins.
