  • The interface, graphics, and balance were horrible, mechanics barely had a chance to be worked out in 1999, but despite that, Everquest had character and and depth that has yet to be replicated in modern MMOs IMO

  • I remember my first trip to freeport. Running all the way from Qeynos and getting killed multiple times along the way by bandits and lions. But we picked ourselves up & kept on running. It took ages, but finally we made it. And when I went shopping, for the first time, I discovered that jewelery HAD stat's. Up until the huge journey to Freeport (from qeynos), I thought you bought jewels that looked pretty regardless of stats, cos what were they anyway?

  • EverQuest was life, we ate, slept (yeah right) and breathed this one of a kind game, aanytime we ran, we actually ran through the forest or city, we ate the food greeted new people and shared our adventures with many others. None can compare to EQ. *bows*

  • I tried this game again a couple of years ago, and couldn't believe all the changes they made to the original landscapes. I know they thought they were improving the textures and maps, but it just wasn't the same 'innocent' EQ anymore. :p

  • Everyone head over to project 1999! It is a free to play Everquest server. It recreates the classic everquest experience up to velious. Kunark just came out 3 months ago!

  • No one can ever fully get over Everquest. /Shed tear; how I miss you... ROFL @ Qeynos spelled backward btw (Qeynos = SonyEQ)

  • I started in Summer of 1999. It was such a big part of my life at the time. I will enver forget EQ. Thanks for posting the original. My Erudite Mage quickly went to Qeynos and leveled up from there. It was a home to me.

  • I love the slightly-off drum beat

  • This was my very first MMO (first found it in second grade >.>, but I still played it none the less :D) eventually I went on to other games like RS, IRO and WoW, all having some great elements in their own right, but I don't think any of them can live up to my first moments wandering outside of the Everglades, especially when I was a kid and was so easily impressed XD

  • I miss EverQuest so much. I remember when I was younger I swore I would never give up Norrath, ever. I can't wait for the Time Locked Progression server they are releasing in Q1 2011.

  • @L2Phantom Progression in 2011???

... I wish I never saw this, because now I'm going to put life on the back burner and play EQ all day like I used to :O

  • @LukeShetler Yep! Check out the newbie zone on the eq players forums and there is a 10+ thread of people dying to come back for the Time Locked Progression server in Q1 2011. A dev confirmed they are working on it for its release in Q1 2011 as well :) We're going home buddy!

  • Uhg im having EQ withdrawlszz :((

  • project 1999 google it

  • qeynos was my favorite place :)

  • Hey anybody remember that little tune when u would run by that merchant house in the middle of qeynos hills? When I re-subbed a couple years ago just to check things out I would stroll by that shack and sit in there just to listen to it again haha.

  • Ah...listening to this makes me feel like I've just come home after being away for a long, long time.

  • I have a fond memory of a druid friend of mine helping me and another as iksars to eventually reach Qeynos's gates, and this music sounded amazingly triumphant.

  • Miss old Everquest ? Type project1999 in google if you want to play classic Everquest again! Classic, Kunark and Velious! No Luclin or further...its AWESOME! :)

  • good lord this... I miss this game... this makes me want to cry....

  • One of my many homes. Requiscat Im Pace.

  • HOME!

  • EQ emu - project 1999- 700+ people primetime, as classic as it gets

  • lmfao, i remember killing beetles in qeynos and then that fuckin Fippy Darkpaw would run by and whoop my ass.

  • I love you for putting up this music

You really brought back the memories :)

  • I miss EQ so much it was such a great game : (

  • Everquest is THE best game that was ever made. I'm soooo nostalgic... Waa...At least Vanguard looks like it a bit. :)

  • EQII turned out to be such a disappointment. =/

  • Man I miss this game... all the new shit sucks. This was like the only game that ever truly made the world feel dangerous and massive. All the new shit sucks cause they just copy WoW, where travel is near instant, nothing is a real threat and theres 0 risk factor.

  • @NyRoNiC Hey buddy try Project 1999! Google it! its a new classic everuqest server just how it was back in the day when it first came out and it produces that nostalgia feeling youre longing for. I started playing a few days ago and its amazing i feel like its back in the 1999/2000 era. Baedar the wood elf druid is on the rise again :D

  • omg that so EQ!!!

I remember one of the player told me qeynos is taking backward of sony eq

and some of the citiy also did this

  • Ahh, yes. Qeynos. Poor Flippy Darkpaw.. he got slaughter countless times and still came back for more. hehehehe :-)

  • This makes me so happy. I had ALOT of fun with this game.

  • Agree whole heartedly!! I'm playing WoW these days...but NOTHING will ever compare to the good ole days of EQ! Hearing this music just takes me back to some amazing memories, heck.. I think I might even miss Fippy Darkpaw.. /laughs.

I tried playing again a few years ago and it just wasn't the same:(( Long live EVERCRACK!!!

  • EQ was my first foray into MMO's. Never got higher than 32 with my mage - but had some great times. Kinda miss it.

  • same here 38 Druid, best time of my life haha

  • I got a chance to play this again for the first time in almost 8 years. It was nice to pick it up once more, just for a day. I didn't care much for the new stuff- I went straight back to Qeynos and took a stroll back in my old stomping grounds. It was awesome in a way that anybody who never played would understand.

  • what music do they have for qeynos now?

  • I'll never fully get over EQ. I think people who have never played it just don't get it.

  • I killed MMO's forever for me with this game. Every one I play is compared to EQ and falls utterly utterly short :(

  • Same.. I can't play any other MMOs after this game. it will never be the same.

  • @Yourgiftisdeath i agree, but its hard to point to any single thing that makes modern MMO's inferior

  • @punyo4u the auction system is what ruined EQ. Because of the auction system in the bazaar, no one really played that much anymore, infact every just went to the bazaar, put their character up, sold stuff and let their computer idle for days to weeks.

  • @lendorama amen

  • @lendorama no doubt. i started 6 or 7 years ago in 2nd or 3rd grade and quit not a year or so later. and i loved the shit out of this game. sometimes i still reminsce on the very few things i do remember of it. like a place called Peludal Caverns? i don't know if i got that right. and i do remember getting the shit scared out of me by some skeletons and penguin looking things in a castle that would hypnotize my guy to following them downstairs and just kicking my ass. good times though. no doubt

  • @jezzon2376 agreed i started playing at age 6 woodelf warrior haha it was an awsome game

  • @jezzon2376 Paludal Caverns, and you were thinking of Kurn's Tower I believe with the Skeletons and Burynai. Unfortunately Paludal Caverns is Luclin Era (where the game started going downhill) Pre-Luclin, (Classic, Kunark and Velious) were the best times of the game. I love listening to the old MIDI's, good memories.

  • @lendorama I understand completely and feel the same. EQ has become a major/pivotal part of online history, and we were lucky to have been at the right time to experience it.

  • hahaha Lastesina, That is almost my exact same story.. lol EQ Forever

  • My first character was a human warrior =) I was like 11 years old and I was so scared to walk out of Qeynos.. I was a noob in the beginning and it took me a couple of years before I really learned how to play x) I miss this game so much!

  • @Lastesina Yup you sum'd it up pretty well there =)

  • my first EQ city as a human wizard... EQ was my religion for 3 years. I wanna play EQ again.

  • ya me too :)

  • Qeynos

    Sony EQ

  • Felwithe

    White Elf

  • Mind = Blown

    Blind = Mown

  • EQ invented sony

  • Ah - the memories.

These sound bites get me all choked up.

  • and realize, EQ was invented by SONY wich was also popular back in the dayz

  • Comment removed

  • Actually, EQ was invented by Sony.

Verant(If you were intelligent enough to do some minimal research on the subject) was a department created and funded by Sony Entertainment.

    Thanks , try again.

  • If you were intelligent you would know that Verant used to be called 989 Studios. Why didn't you include that tidbit of information buddy?

  • ... who cares? O_o

I was aware of that fact, but it adds *absolutely* nothing to the point I was making.

Verant was always "owned" by Sony right from day 1. Sony never "bought" Verant, which is the point that was being discussed.

    ...

  • Qeynos backwards...

    Sony EQ.

  • Fippy Darkpaw should be in the movie.

  • Fippy Darkpaw.

    Nuff said? XD

  • classic eq would pwn nowadays

  • You have a very, very stupid opinion...

Does the original Mario suck nowadays?

  • Original Mario? Yes.

    Super Mario Bros.? No.

You're obviously retarded but let me elaborate on my earlier point, original Everquest(None of the expansions) was great because it was new, it was mysterious... no one knew anything about the world or how it worked.

Nowadays, players know everything, it eliminated the mystery, the mystique if you will. Therefore, classic EQ would be pretty weak today.

Think before you talk(type) next time.

  • I meant Super Mario Brothers, anyway.

And no, the newness of EQ will not have worn off for a lot of the people wanting the original game back.

  • Obviously you're quite dense if you thought "Mario" and "Super Mario Bros." were the same thing.

Once again, if you've ever played EQ before, "Classic EQ" will not have a draw to non-retarded people, so I guess it's right up your alley. Carry on Junior.

  • Now you're just being cynical. By saying the "original mario" I can only mean one thing. Super Mario Brothers.

To be quite honest, you're quite dense if you do not realize when someone says "Original Mario" they mean the first Mario game. Or you're just argumentative and want to sound intelligent by picking apart something.

  • Oh my lord, you're apparently more retarded than I originally believed.

    I'll quote you briefly:

"If you do not realize when someone says "Original Mario" they mean the first Mario game."

Sorry son, the FIRST Mario game was *not* Super Mario Bros. I guess some chumptarded child like you wouldn't know that though.

Anyone who says "Epic feel" obviously cannot think for themselves... EQ never became "Generic" it set the trend , not only that, it invented the genre.

    Think before you talk(type)kid

  • The first Mario game WAS INDEED Super Mario Bros. The first game that Mario as a character still as Jumpman appeared in was DONKEY KONG.

EverQuest set the trend... And then more MMO's came out that it adapted to and those adapations made it shitty and no longer a trend setter.

  • Also, I have "thought" before every statement I've made. You, on the other hand, seem to be brashly and outrageously attacking everything I say for no intent or purpose other than the attack, despite what I say making sense or being logically placed.

  • I have not read any logic from you. Just hateful opinion.

"EverQuest was a trend starter, child, kid, timmy, blind loyalist, think, junior."

You even are so bold as to start throwing around comparisons of me to a zealous religious nut. Now that's a joke. We are discussing EverQuest being relevant if it was in its original form, and you have outright insulted me several times whereas I have not. All you have done this entire time is make this conversation about me, rather than EverQuest.

  • I fail to see how any of the following statements you made were anything other than foundationless opinion. Nonetheless, I sincerely hope you have -thoroughly- enjoyed harassing and degrading someone on Youtube. I really do hope it makes you feel bigger when you explain how to scroll down. I think you are a hostile and incredibly negative person, so perhaps you should refrain from leaving comments on Youtube, especially if everyone is so fucking "stupid" and so far below you.

  • I fail to see your analogy, also. Enjoying the original EverQuest is something I used to do for hours a day from 1999 to 2000, and I do not compare it to eating out of a dumpster.

  • Also, I have played EQ before, I played the game for four long years, from 99' to 2003. I loved the game in those days, and as more expansions started to be released, my interest and care began to drop because it lost it's "original epic" feel. It became generic. An original MMO trying to become "new", if you will. Say what you want, I'm done arguing with you. It's clear you do not understand my view, even though I find it rather simple.

  • Clearly you have nothing new to say after 3 months.

Maybe you should take my advice and read what I have written again, perhaps after a few hundred times of reading it might sink in, Timbo.

  • Blind loyalist actually. Which, you apparently share.

  • If you didn't understand already, further explaining would only waste time on both our ends.

    That's pretty much it.

  • Lashun Novashine shouts: End this ceaseless conflict!

  • Poor Flippy Darkpaw. He's been killed millions and millions of times yet he still doesn't give up trying to protect his people's lands.

    Gotta hand it to him.

  • Holly Windstalker, that's who this music reminds me of!

I remember killing a bear with my Half Elf Bard and out of nowhere I'd find myself near Surefall Glade again. Augh! I finally got my revenge on EQ2 :D

  • I haven't played this game in ages, can't even remember when I first played it. I never really saw what was so special about it during its time (besides the fact that it had amazing graphics for an MMO for its time), but I do like the music :D

  • Ahh, I remember coming here every day on my Froglok Shaman, camping the Klicknik [roflsp] Prince and Princess in order to spawn the Queen.

Thank you, good sir, for bringing a tear to my eye. <3

  • You REALLY need to upload the fixed version, the drums in this one sound absolutely awful in comparison.

  • I'd rather maintain a purest mindset and keep the originals. Thanks for your input though. :)

  • The fixed version IS the original, only with the soundbank glitch corrected; the drum bank is supposed to be "Orchestral," but for some reason modern soundcards default it to the standard drumset if the bank is not set to the exact number. I didn't call it "Fixed" for nothing :P

I really need to update the deluxe pack

  • hehehe lol would u guys believe that my druid Saippwin is KOS in Qeynos for some odd reason dont know why ive killed like alot of gnolls and im still hunting them

  • If you kill the animals and wildlife, you become KOS to some of the guards or other NPCs. Maybe you did that?

  • heh in eq 2 holly is an epic x2 and so is the rivervale dog hes now a ghost dog epic x5

  • Didn't mean to post that as a reply

    "ht tp:/ /w ww . laurasmidiheaven . com/00-MIDI/2/001177732254/Qeynos (Fixed)"

    Remove the spaces before Qeynos

  • Just been browsing your eq music vids. Lots of great times with that great game.

You are doing great and bringing EQ players back to the game I think :)

  • Mmm, you used the bad version for this sample. In the one you used the drums are all messed up; I'd post a direct link to the fixed version, but youtube won't let me post links

I'm the guy that ripped the Everquest midis by the way :D

You can find an even more complete package I made (25 more songs than the Fileplanet rip and includes the fixed version of Qeynos) at mirsoft's game music database.

  • everquest 2 should be everquest 1 remake but 10 times as big with alot more room to grow everquest 2 killed it =(*****

  • I only had one real EQ character, a Qeynosian Human Warrior. I got him to level 52. When I had to quit right after Scars of Velious came out, I sold everything I had (or gave it away) and was only left with my no-drop items. I ran him back to Qeynos practically naked with the exception of a couple Indicolite armor pieces. I took one more stroll around the city, then engaged the guards at the gate. When they killed me, I never looted my corpse. So, he died at the footsteps of his home.

  • thats seriously almost brought a tear to my eye. best eq story ever.

  • Thanks. :)

I can honestly say that I've never seen such a great online community in any MMO. Back in those days, people had to work very hard to get to high level, and you could almost hear people saying "ooh" and "ahh" when someone had a rare, epic item. I don't think any game could be as special again. I'll never forget my time fighting High Keep's goblin infestation, exploring Blackburrow's winding caves, or helping out people by the "newbie log" in Nektulos. Ahh, and Cazic-Thule trains! :D

  • @Warghost1000 i had a wood elf warrior who died like that in lower guk. thought id never play again. then kunark came out and i made an iksar!

  • Ahh God. I can't take it. Every time I hear EQ music I want to play again. Especially Qeynos - my home town :o. Five years of that game and you never fully recover. Sighhhhh.

  • i just started this week after a 3 yr abscence. all the fun is still there with a thriving community after allllll these yrs, albeit a much smaller one then back in the day but still a niche of great players still runnin around

  • EQ's the best

  • i love everquest

  • oh god, resubscribing
