I think wifi should be free for the world! We all share this planet , We should all share the internet too. It is in fact called the world wide web is it not ?
6K a year and your focus is to pick up long range wifi connections and post videos on youtube. If you came on here promoting how you were running bio fuel that you brewed up to save a buck or how you managed create free energy then I would be entertained.
But to broadcast here is how I pickup free internet from 2Kms away..........
@Cjudd001 Thank you for bringing that up; in order to offer you videos such as my diesel WVO/WMO/WTF, etc., genny conversion & other propitiatory projects this Oct. including subvocal RS one must maintain a medium to connect.
@Cjudd001 Not comparable. One locks his portcullis on his adobe to keep kleptomaniacs at bay. But the WiFi penetrated my property so I tapped in. Wifi can cause ill health effects for some so here one could have a case for emf intrusion. I rather chose to recycle that bane to my benefit.
Besides I use very little; far less than 250gb mo. allocated by the cable company.
@Cjudd001 You are right in one way, that "Yes" I'm a secondhand Joe off sorts & procure a modest living of the waste of others hence my $6000 per year income requirement.
I seldom use a cell phone (& then at a distance of several inches with the earpiece turned up) as it's a radioactive device however slight, as well as a homing beacon for imperialism.
TV & radio signals operate on another bandwidth that usually doesn't wreck havoc as it's WiFi counterparts do.
@Cjudd001 Besides, I tap in usually at night when most have drunk their eggnog & are tucked in awaiting another day to possibly foot the bill for someone's else's penurious renaissance.
Although my target is the greens. In this way I never had a complaint.
@Cjudd001 It's not stealing per say as we have a golf course about 1/2 mile off thru woods, several houses, across streets, that invites this activity although likely more for patrons.
Besides open networks are open of this very reason: ~ To share the internet ~ If they prioritized security, they would be encrypted wouldn't they? As for a $200 investment to save $550 per year for some 25 gigs mo max. on something as free as the air we breathe, I have no qualms or reservations about doing so.
@bender1011001 If it's a mostly clear line of sight then it should be fine, if it has to pass thru any building then atleast mine you'll drop 1-2 bar per structure this passes thru. You should determine your transmitting point & how it's located.
@bender1011001 I purchased mine on eBay, just type 38.5 Dbi (more power full 50 Dbi is also available for about the same price of $160 I paid for this 2 years ago, 160448651691 or 150598630370 respectively.
This is used to draw a signal from far away & plugs directly into your computer if you have a spare USB port
I have a 13 or 14 dbi antenna it will pick up a good signal about 2miles away, I think anything over 20dbi is overkill if you live near the city. I live in the country about 1mile from a network, 13dbi is good enougth.
@js111410 Oh certainty, urban locales are virtually immersed in a bubble ~ Pun intended lol but here in the Semi-Sticks power is required to penetrate the bush, In fact I'm eying over the latest 49.5 Dbi creation with also works with "N" networks.
I used to take advantage of wireless networks that were open around my area. But then we got a new internet provider, which was a good deal. I think its like $100 for phone, tv, and internet. But I would do things differently if it was my choice...
A lot of my neighbors have since protected their internet, and I found it was not generally fast internet anyways.
@clubcar98 Yes the 3 way plan has it advantages & disadvantages
Personally I'd have a FTA Satellite w/4000 {many local from the aureole of the alternate viewpoints, Free To Air (FTA) stations but you have to endure a 33" white dish like that debuted following the 10 foot C-band. or Direct TV for 2 Receivers. $35 or so a month, next this with a Nettalk or central Magic Jack ~ though Nettalk seems more reliable hooked up on the Wifi Antenna to be (Free broadband Internet & Phone or nearly free)
@eviltrucks101 No but I have seen those, this works on a similar principle though. I can get a usable 2 bars, thru 3 houses, across the street (or 2 inc a driveway off sorts.)

Golf course 1/2 mile off for patrons...
Open networks, Older or less computer savy people that dont know any different.
So lets say, I forget to lock the front door to my house. You walk by and check to see if its unlocked.. It is.
Does that make it right to go in and take anything you want?
Businesses that have free wifi have it to atract customers, not free loaders.
You answered my question in your first paragraph.
Your a smart parasite.

How does that make me a groveler?

@Begbucks You can make all the excuses you want and dance around the truth...
And that is that you didnt pay for it. Someone else is and its chewing up their bandwidth.
As for the intrusion, what about Radio and TV? What about mobile phones..
The airwaves are full of radiowaves. I bet you have no qualms about putting a mobile phone upto your head..
You do know that you transmit as well with your wifi theiving antenna.. What about the noise your making onto others?

You lose some precious DB-Gain with that many Plug Connections and the thin cable

@MrTalmud Yes I know but the 2.5 ft stock just failed to offer the PC to antenna range for my application. Sometimes one has no choice.

is this stealing internet?
DoctorAoki 11 months ago
@DoctorAoki Define peculating, yes if you hack ~ no if it''s an open network such as a public hotspot at the library or golf course in the area.
